Looks really sharp. Definitely brighten the logo. It suits the show a lot more, with all the glitz of the casinos.
I should use radial gradients more often. They really add to a cover when it's a simple design.
Is that a variation on the "1979" font? I could never tell. Don't give away any trade secrets, of course.

Been working on something for The X-Files. Previews added to the first post.
Not too sure about the colours though, to be honest I couldn't think of any colours to associate with the show and having a look at the official art didn't really help since they had different colours for each set :-S
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Background image is (once again) something I found on the site of the ESA (European Space Agency)

Might have been making unnecissarily complicated ... if no colour suits the cover, then don't use colour I figured:
Any thoughts on this ?

Scara,
Y'know I'm one for lotsa purty pix... I gotta say, THESE LOOK SLICK! I love how all the series are connected with the basic design. It makes me wanna go out and get Law and Order, CSI and Las Vegas! For now, I'll settle with 24, Alias and The X-Files. Did I already miss when and where we can get them? What sixe cases are they for? 1" spines?
Why don't you pop on my board to show 'em off there too!
Ric

Re: The X-Files.
Another great design. While I like the color in the preview pics, the B/W background looks much better.
X-Files has a really muted pallete, and the best place to find colors to use is in the title credits, or episode specific colors (i.e. the color of the Flukeman).
Keep up the great work!

Thx Ric & Gary !
Keeping em simple because quite a few of the shows that'll be in this collection ain't gonna have any hi-res images around ... now I don't have that problem since I can always redraw the logo ... and finding an appropriate background isn't all that hard.
Covers are all (except ER, which is for singles) for the Nexpak 3/4/5/6-disc cases.
If you don't mind I'll do exactly that

Smallville preview added. Choosing a colour scheme wasn't easy though since there's isn't that much that defines the show, colour-wise that is. For a while I stuck with Superman blue & red, which actually looked pretty good, but then I remembered that Warner is planning to release Lois & Clark on DVD this year. Red & Blue would definatley be a better choice for those, since he really is Superman in that series, in Smallville he is, after all, only Clark Kent. The Superman logo on the front is the only reference I wanted to make in the end.
Any comments or suggestions about the colours would be appreciated (just remember that red+blue is not gonna happen for these).

This gold-brown thing for Smallville is never gonna work ... I guess I'll end up with red and blue after all
... It just works too well to be ignored. (plus the 2nd season retail boxset is also in this kind off blue if I'm not mistaken)

Oh, now you have me really stoked!
Any chance you could add The Avengers to the list? If you don't I'll tackle them myself.
Looking forward to The Prisoner as well (never liked the A&E design).

As a newbie to this forum, I'm certain I'm missing a trick here, but is it possible to download these are they are absolutely superb, particularly shows I have such as CSI, The WestWing and The X-Files.
Being in the UK, the various publishers have an extremely annoying habit of completely changing the style and colour of packaging after one or two matching seasons, and in the case of the West Wing, changing the entire format the dvds come in.
The chance to have matching art work on the shelf above the television would be great.

Anyhoo, A&E labeled each disc by year (or "set") and volume, but I have look at how many discs each season received when I get home. Hope that made sense.

I just had a thought: Clark has yet to wear the blue suit, and the family crest appears differently than the final version we all know and love.
Do you think the Superman logo on the covers should replaced with a high school varsity "S", just to separate the show from it's roots?
Don't get me wrong - I love the cover including the golden version). I'm just tossing design ideas out there.

Millennium preview added.
I only know the show by name so any suggestions for the background image would be appreciated. (or if you think another color scheme would work better, feel free to tell me that too)

For background, for Millenium, I'd almost recommend an alley..if you can get a shot of a back alley, or just some run down looking city street/alley combo...it's been an awful long time since I saw that show, so I may not be remembering it well, but I want to think it was VERY dark/serial killer territory.

An alley would be very appropriate. Millenium was very dark and was essentially an X-Files spin off. Only thing I'm not convinced about is the colour scheme but then I'm thinking of a black base which could become repetitive with the X-Files themselves.
