Is that the Darth Vader plastic model kit figure gracing the front of Ep 5?

The studios break our balls about making custom covers and they peddle THIS garbage off on us

FUKC THEM!

Actually I've been lurking around DVDTalk since early-mid 2002, but didn't register until June 2003. However, since then I've only posted about 30 times... I'm not very talkative...

Calm down - bunch of uptight cry babies. Dag - I didn;t know I needed "permission" to post links - what - You own the internet? Now you secured your site, so you're better off for it.

JuptierPrime - if you're gonna offer your covers for free - why are you so pissy? Are you sure you are not going to charge "credits" for them? George Lucas would like to know - oh and by the way - I'm sure lucasfilm already has set of "your" covers.

And BigAl, I'm out of order? You're out of order! Dag's out of order! Jups out of order! This whole cover site thing is out of order! (I loved "and justice for all" didn't you?)

why am I so pissy.....it doesnt strike you at all that what you did above was just wrong? I had episode 1 and 2 available currently, but 4, 5 and 6 were deliberatly set to be inactive until closer to the actual release date - meaning that you didnt intend on doing this just to help people out in getting covers that are under a subscibed membership at another location, but BECAUSE they were not readilly available at this time, you did it as a deliberate act of "FUKC YOU, DAGON". Thats why im so pissy.

Personally as far as Im concerned, yeah you're right - I am going to be offering my past and future works on a free based system (to a limited degree) but that doesnt mean that I was going to have Eps 4, 5 and 6 out to the public at this time either....AS THERE IS STILL WORK THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE TO THEM so you only succeeded in getting something that will be obselete when I finally officially release them. Still even though possibly giving you the benefit of the doubt in letting Dag know about a loophole, what gets me riled is that you did it in the wrong way - you could have told him that privately, instead of being a jerk.

If it was your intention of of being a kind spirited person and letting dag know there was a possible back door that he hadnt forseen, well then hey....a private message to him and/or email works, whereby he would have graciously thanked you for your effort....but no - thats not what happened here.

You deliberatly spent time and effort to get a hold of something that wasnt inteded to be ditributed at this time (of which respectible members were perfectly willing wait for) and get it from him outside the premise of his site operations (of which respectible members had no problems with) and proceeded to let everyone inside the scope of this forum know about it hoping you would come off like some kind of loveable pirate.....sounds to me that you have some serious "hey everybody, look at me!" issues and inadequacies, not mention lack of respect for others and personal integrity, and just another "the internet should be free" crackpot.

JupiterPrime - what are you talking about? Wrong? Wrong to post links to covers to movies that are 20+ years old? Wrong to post links to covers that feature copyrighted artwork to which you have no right to use? Just where is your head, JupiterPrime?

How do you justify your contempt for me when you steal real artists' work to make these covers? Do you think the owners of the original work (lucasfilm in this case) might have the same contempt for you? Why is this point lost on you and your band of cover "artists." The work you put into these covers is obvious and you feeling of ownership is understandable, but let's not get carried away here. These are DVD covers after all, destined for someone's media shelf, with only the spine exposed if that.

As for Dagon's sloppy coding skills, that is not my fault nor my responsibility to alert him about it. If you can't take the hits then don't put up the site, I'm sure he understands that. The internet is the wild west right now- don't stake a claim if you can't handle it - which is good advice for you and your new website endeavor.

As for your personal remarks speculating about my "look at me" and inadequacy issues - all I can say is take a look in the mirror my friend. You put design copyright by G***** H******** on the DVD covers you throw together (pretty ballsy) and don't miss a chance to berate noobs on the boards with crap like this: http://novastation.com/images/weird/stfu_noob.jpg
Who wants the attention now?

You're damn right it is. Solid brass. I put in the time and effort and it is a practice adopted by several other cover artists that many people know, for reasons that even many more have had to deal with.

Don't like it? Then don't use it. Makes no difference to me either way.

I dont have a particular contempt for you - just what you did - Im sure that you probably thought you meant well, unless you're one of those sorts that gets off on letting the world know you were able to beat a system...one of the sorts whom personal private glory is simply just not good enough - EVERYONE needs to know.

As far as the covers getting out, I dont care - I'm going to be getting them out to whomever wants them soon enough, but to do what you did to Dagon, deliberately in here and in other forums as well, for no good reason - thats where the contempt comes from - it was just plain unnecessary and a sh!tty thing to do, on many different levels that probably didnt even occur to you, and which you obviously couldnt care less about even if they did occur to you, but are important to Dag and mean sometihng to the people whom he supports, as well as those who support him.

Hope you're proud of yourself.

Jupiterprime,

LFL is only one whois look up away from getting all the info they need to send you something in the mail - that's what I meant by pretty ballsy - but if that's a risk you want to run...then more power to you. You must really love making covers if that is the case.

As far as Dagons concerned - I found the links here: http://forum.ru-board.com/
(the post has since been deleted) and in my excitement for finding decent covers, decided to spread it around, as others would have. Again, it's not my fault that his site was not secured - a working link is a working link - what did I circumvent exactly? And if your covers were not supposed to be out yet as you said previously, why was their a link to them?

Regardless, the deed is done - Dagon fixed his site and now will go on to have a much better site than DVDCA ever could have been, most likely (if he sticks with customs only that is.)

Worst they can do to me is send me a Cease and Desist, which they more than likely wouldnt bother with over a single person who isnt making money off of any of it.

I'm not selling them - I only designed them using art already available all over the internet...for free...on all sorts of websites that will also have to be tracked and told to cease and desist, becuase they arent making any money from it either. I havent done anything that anyone with talent and skill and time couldnt make on their own and do the same thing and pass out themselves however they liked - So the only thing a Cease and Desist would do, (if they could do it becasue there is no money involved) is spoil it for anyone else....I still have them, so unless they plan on knocking on my door and taking my custom made covers for my legally purchased DVDs (when they are finally available) and making me put the originals back on, I dont think that anyone who has downloaded them (including yourself) has anything to worry about.

and by the way - it wont stop with just me....once they are are totally aware - which they probably already are since you posted them on the Star Wars forum - then they'll also look to all cover sites and all cover artists and give them the same cease and desist.....then no one will have anything but the "canned" studio art that is attrocious....boy - wont the person who causeS that fiasco be real popular....much like the one who put the kabosh on DVDCA - now there's a person that a few thousand people would like to get into a room alone for 10 minutes.

Not to mention that there is nothing for me to be able to cease and desist about anyway...

1. Its not my site, it's Dag's
2. They're not available anywhere else (except for the places where the links have been broadcast for as long as Dag leaves them there) - they're not even on my site.

Come to think of it, there's NOTHING on my site yet

Money has nothing to do with it in reality. If they want to keep their trademark and/or copyright intact,m they must enforce this by sending the cease and desist order. Check up on your copytight/trademark laws.

If you do not enforce a mark, you risk the chance of losing such mark.
