Details: Goodfellas SE etc
Hey
We've just got the details on the new Goodfellas SE which will be available to own from the 17th August for around $26.99. As well as an anamorphic widescreen presentation and English Dolby Digital 5.1 track, the disc will include an audio commentary with director Martin Scorsese and Cast/Crew, a second commentary with Ex-Gangster Henry Hill & Ex-FBI Agent Edward McDonald and four new cast and crew documentaries. Also available from the 17th August will be the Martin Scorsese films After Hours, Alice Doesn't Live Here Any More, Mean Streets, and Who's That Knocking At My Door? Each of these will feature a Scorcese commentary plus other extras which are to be confirmed. Retail for each of these will be $19.97. Finally, you will be able to own the Scorsese Collection Giftset for $59.92 which includes all of the above. Artwork and menus are here

Awesome news, thanks for the heads up! Goodfellas is one of my favorite movies and I was waiting for an anamorphic transfer + extras and it's finally paid off! I'll definitely be getting this one.

Good things come to those who wait. I knew a special edition would be forthcoming at some point, even when there was no official announcement. There have been many times the past few years where I really needed my GoodFellas fix and almost picked up the current but cheap and no-frills DVD. I can wait a few more months. Yay!

it's too bad, Warner has that strict anti-unrated home video policy, since it would be nice to see the few seconds of grue added back into the film that was cut to garner an R-rating.

The question remains...will Goodfellas be a digipak? A clamshell double keepcase? A center-page keepcase (or whatever its called)?
Excellent news, regardless. Can't wait for the pics.

It's good to hear about After Hours-finally.

That giftset sounds fantastic. Warner is doing good with their recent and upcoming boxsets which are very affordable (Police Academy, Noir Collection, Batman: The Animated Series, and now the Scorsese Box). Warner is, without a doubt, the best studio releasing DVDs.
