Oops, sorted.

Don't bet on it. No one even knows what the extras will be (if any). It's going to be 1 disc with DTS and DD5.1 PLUS, that version is being handled by Paramount. It's a Columbia title over here.
I'm guessing this is R2 Japan as it is handled by BV in the UK.

How is the American version better when scenes are cut from it that explain other things in the movie? I could see if the cut scenes were meaningless, but they actually served a purpose, which is why it's so stupid they were cut in the first place, just because censors like to tell us what we're capable of handling.

And I said we can expect an SE version of the film down the road because I believe R2 recently got one or will be getting one soon.
Personally, I disagree, the 24 mins doesn't make it any better (or worse), just longer.

I love the uncut version and was just about to order the superbit version from Amazon when I found out about the DTS problem.

Do people think Amazon will now only have the new fixed version ?

I'm confused now. What's wrong with the dts version, and do they have a fixed release now?

There is no "fixed" version of the DTS track. None.

They never fixed the Superbit...only the regular release which did not have DTS.

Hi, I'm kind of new here. I was registered here a couple of years ago, but never posted since then. So I re-registered and have a question.

I recieved the Leon with the 06196 UPC from DVDEmpire. But what was strange was that the package looked like it was re-sealed (it was suppose to be a new copy). So now Im worried that the disc inside may have been switched to the defective copy. Is there a way to tell the difference on the disc itself between the defective and corrected version?

Thanks

1217 I cannot answer your question directly but in the past DVDEmpire used to open suspected defective discs basically as a courtesy to the consumer.

They definately did this during the Jurassic Park DTS debacle.

What in the world are you babbling on about? What is "American Version?" The original cut of Leon (aka The Professional) was what EVERYBODY got, all around the world. The longer version was released later in France as a gift to Luc Besson's fans. It is NOT a directors cut and he has stated he prefers the shorter version.

Get your facts straight before you tell somebody they're making ridiculous comments.

Thanks for the quick reply taco. I just found a link to the HT forum stating that the defective disc is blue, with 'Leon' in silver and the 'professional' in red.

Guess what, thats exactly how my disc is. I hope those people in the HT forum are wrong, but can anyone confirm this?

I remember the original print also had "24 minutes cut due to extreme violence!" on the back cover and insert, which is hilarious because the added scenes were ALL character moments.

Uncut International for me.

What is it with soundtracks and this film? The original Uncut International release had the rear channels reversed and had to be corrected

No, you're thinking of True Romance, This film had inaudible rears at first.

Dang...just bought a used copy of Leon and I think it's the defective one; from the above description. What is the defect exactly? It sounds fine to me. Then again I have a sorta mid fi 5.1 system. I have heard worse sounding soundtracks from dvds with a higher rating in the audio dept. Can anyone point out where the defects are on the disc...what to look out for?

Thanks!

I believe the defective version has an over tamed rear surround in the 5.1 soundstage.

1217. Definitely call DVDEmpire and raise hell. They shouldn't have sent you an opened DVD without your consent, and add to the insult they sent you a defective disc in a supposedly a corrected version of the keepcase.

The first press of Leon had a low LFE track, or something to that nature.

Sup, i called DVDEmpire and they were nice enough to email a prepaid mailer form to ship the dvd back. Great customer service, and they were already aware of the Leon problem. Now its just the waiting game. Hopefully they dont mess up again.

Its just that how can they ship me a re-shrink wrapped dvd with the correct case, but wrong dvd?? I felt something was fishy when I started ripping the really thin shrinkwrap, and it was suppose to be a new dvd.

Yes. Universal corrected the disc. The corrected disc says D2R2 in the inner ring while the defective one says D2R1. The defective disc should have depleted from stores by now, so it should be safe to buy now. In the worst case, you can go back to the store to exchange, or exchange it directly with Universal.
