your an idiot if you bought a dvd player just for a SE of predator? The first edition was good and this one isnt going to be spectacular. I hate when people make stupid remarks like that just to wine.

^^ Bit harsh response to the original post, don't ya think?

However, I agree with your setiment though. To use the release of the Predator SE as the sole reason to buy a DVD player is a bit stupid. Not to mention "late to the party".

What stupid remark did he make? He asked if anyone knew when a certain title would be available, and he indicated that Predator was the reason he bought a DVD player. So what? Did you stop and think that maybe he was referring to the original release of the movie as being the reason he bought his player?

If you're going to blast someone, do it for the right reasons, and make sure you sound moderately intelligent. Otherwise, you just come off as being a complete, illiterate jerk. Here's three easy steps to follow:

1. In creating your posts, make sure to check your spelling and grammar.

2. Check your punctuation and capitalization.

3. Pick a legtimate subject to respond to that most people reading would agree with you on.

By the way, I've taken the liberty of correcting your errors:

"You're an idiot if you bought a dvd player just for a SE of Predator. <--- (period at the end of a statement, not a question mark) The first edition was good and this one isn't going to be spectacular. I hate when people make stupid remarks like that just to whine."

Kudos for spelling "spectacular" correctly. You had to look that one up, didn't you?

The Predator SE DVD release will coincide with the theatrical release of Alien vs. Predator this summer.

I'm pretty new here, but one thing never ceases to amaze me...and that's how rude a large portion of people on this site are, especailly when attacking new people. It seems like I read comments like the ones puddytay made above almost every day. What's the reason for it? Is it just to belittle someone to make yourself feel better? If so, that's truly sad.

don't let that get to you. it's just another socially inept person adopting the "no one knows who i am on the internet, therefore no one will ever be able to hurt me when i treat them like crap" mentality. pay it no mind.

besides, who doesn't look forward to seeing their favorite movies on DVD when they get their first player? i know i couldn't wait to run out and get my favorites. i still feel that way 6 years later.

True. So true. That is why I have shifted more of my readings/messages towards HomeTheaterForum.com.

I used to think they were snobish, but after reading countless of nasty responses to simple questions here, I have moved my DVD forum reading over there.

Regarding Predator: SE, I am only buying if it's a new transfer --- which I doubt it will. The current transfer is pretty good considering its age, film stock used, etc.

Oh, c'mon now . . . puddytay's response was uncalled for, but hardly representative of this forum as a whole. Every group has their share of vocal asshats (I love that term . . . almost as good as "tool" ), no matter where you are. For the most part, the old-timers and the regulars are pretty good about taking care of the newcomers, as long as they are not trolling.

Plus, c'mon man . . . bad form to plug another forum in here.

OT - D-Ball is probably right about it coinciding with Alien Vs. Predator. I'm looking forward to it . . . I've been holding off on picking it up ever since I heard an SE was coming.

WHile puddytay's response may be over the top, it worth mentioning that you should use a question mark in the thread title when you're asking a question.

That way people don't get excited and click into a thread thinking they're going to get information about a long-awaited title.

I didnt mean to sound hostile sorry. But I think my post is still warranted because his statement was just stupid. By his logic he bought a dvd player just for a SE dvd that hasnt even been announced. Hmmm... that makes alot of sense.

Well, judging from all the posts that subsequently followed your initial diatribe, I would say that you're the only one who feels his statement was stupid, and it was your post that didn't make "alot" of sense. Did you read nothing anyone has said here, or are you just convinced that your opinion/viewpoint is the one and only correct one? Or maybe you just like to form opinions about people without knowing all the facts before you attack them.

I will present this to you again: his initial statement could have implied that the original DVD release of Predator was the reason he bought his DVD player. Even if the opposite is correct, and he's purchased a player in anticipation of an edition that hasn't been released yet...who the hell cares?!? Do we, as Americans, not have the right to pretty much do whatever the hell we want for whatever reason? He bought a DVD player for reasons you don't personally agree with with. Oh, my God...ship his ass off to the funny farm. Go find something to attack about someone who's actually done some form of harm to society, and leave alone people who have done absolutely nothing to provoke your kind of inane ranting, ass-hair (that's a term I personally love to use, talemyn).

(I apologize to anyone who may have been put off by my "ranting", but I simply can't stand to see people attacked or put down for no good reason. That, and I also can't stand the word "stupid" when used in that context.)
