Fox Home Entertainment have announced the Region 1 DVD release of Predator: Collector's Edition for 20th July 2004 with a retail price of $26.98. Available here in the UK for quite some time now this R1 DVD release appears to be identical in all but standard regional variations (languages) and the addition of the appropriate Alien Vs. Predator promotional material.

Arriving in separate anamorphic widescreen and full screen editions features include:

The only gripe I have on this release is the dumb looking "15" on the spine. I realize it's for their 2-disc special editions, but man, make it a little more subtle please, Fox.

Of course that won't stop me at all from picking this up.

I have the DTS version, but I want features for the coolest cat from the '80s (being the Yautja (the species name of the Predator)).

Mainly for a new transfer, cooler and louder sound, AND the AvP trailers.

Thanks for your replies guys, i guess i got that one rare asshat reply. I've bought other dvds since (Band of Brothers, Adventures of Robin Hood, Simpsons season 1-3, Scarface:SE) but the one i originally wanted the most was Predator.

Anywho thanks for the info i'll be sure to get this one.

It would've been great if they made some kind of holographic cover for this that mimicked the Predator's stealth suit. Look at it from one angle and there's nothing look at it from another angle and you see the out line of the Predator's body with his eyes glowing in the dark.

Or you can have the Predator on the cover and as you look at the cover from different angles you get different backgrounds and the Predator blends in.
They could make it a limited editon cover.

REAL NASTY HABIT YOU GOT THERE

Manco, that would be really sharp if they made the camo'ed Predator on the cover, but without revealing his real view since it comes as a surprise in the movie how he really looks. When i first saw this movie in 1988-89 i didn't know what the heck this was. I was so young i actually thought the Predator were those funny rainbow looking men who are actually the infra-red view of Predators amplified biohelmet. So the cover should be the camo, with those light-bending layers slightly moving as you turn the cover giving the impression of something obscure like a ghost, yet you know it's there!

YES after watching this movie 150+ times, which i proudly admit, i've never watched any other movie over 20 times except for Predator and, like something out of a dream i'll get this. The behind-the-scenes extras are like legendary to me for the reasons of my own...

Well it's official. Nothing special about our Region 1 CE release.

I was hoping they'd surprise us and add additional commentaries from Jesse The Body and/or Ahh-nold, or more deleted scenes. D@mn.

Oh well. Just sold my current dts version the other day, so I'm getting the CE anyway!

I think it's safe to assume this is NOT a new transfer.

A little more reading was called for, friend. IF you had read with greater care, you would have seen that in my post, I was correcting a certain member for two things: lambasting someone unnecessarily; and for demonstrating an apparent lack of spelling skills. The person my post was directed at was the first to use the erroneous word in question, "alot". My responding post repeated the word back to him, in quotation marks, with much intended sarcasm.

All you've done with your preceding post is make yourself look foolish while attempting to make me look the same. This response has now taken ten minutes of my life I will never get back; minutes I could have better spent doing something constructive, and maybe make the world a better place. Now that's all been ruined. Sleep well.

Fox said it will be a new transfer, but as we know studio reps are all damn dirty liars, so I guess we'll have to see when reviews come out.

Yeah, kind of how individual Godfather re-releases were going to be new transfers.

So is it DTS2.0 as per DVDEmpire or DTS5.1?
