By the way, how does someone get a label of "Senior Member" when they've been registered for less time than I have? Or does it mean that they're literally a senior citizen member of the site?
I can see it now...Senior Member is in the DVD section of Best Buy, shaking his cane at all the "young whippersnappers", yelling:
"I can remember when back in my day, DVD's were called 'nickelodeons'! And we didn't care about bitrates and DTS and what-not! We walked barefoot for three miles in the freezing snow to see Al Jolson dancing a jig in that little black and white, non-anamorphic screen...and we liked it!!!"
Sorry....had to get that last of it out of my system.

Edit: For a little extra fun, this very post put me into the "Platinum Edition" level.

The cover art over at dvdanswers looks... eh.. okay. Will be interesting to hear the specs though and eventual release date. Does that look like 2 discs or 3 discs? Cover art reminds me of the new Panic Room set and the M&C CE. Either way I'll probably buy since I still haven't picked up the original.
Congrats talemyn on your new level

Did you read nothing anyone has said here, or are you just convinced that your opinion/viewpoint is the one and only correct one? Or maybe you just like to form opinions about people without knowing all the facts before you attack them.
I will present this to you again: his initial statement could have implied that the original DVD release of Predator was the reason he bought his DVD player. Even if the opposite is correct, and he's purchased a player in anticipation of an edition that hasn't been released yet...who the hell cares?!? Do we, as Americans, not have the right to pretty much do whatever the hell we want for whatever reason? He bought a DVD player for reasons you don't personally agree with with. Oh, my God...ship his ass off to the funny farm. Go find something to attack about someone who's actually done some form of harm to society, and leave alone people who have done absolutely nothing to provoke your kind of inane ranting, ass-hair (that's a term I personally love to use, talemyn).
(I apologize to anyone who may have been put off by my "ranting", but I simply can't stand to see people attacked or put down for no good reason. That, and I also can't stand the word "stupid" when used in that context.)

There is not a new transfer or DTS track. This Special Edition has been out for years in other regions. Many people (including yours truly) has it. Same transfer, same soundtrack.
There are a series of vignettes about the costume work, "old painless" and a few deleted/unfinished scenes.

Keep in mind that the print is very old. I think Predator was released in '86 or somewhere around there. Nonetheless, I agree, the current version is very lacking. DTS is weak, too.

I don't know what you've heard, but Fox has confirmed that the new Predator SE will have a new 16:9 transfer of the film.
Also, I should point out that the current version has a very nice DTS track. Who said they weren't going to include that on the new SE?
