T2: Extreme vs Ultimate?
Could someone explain the differences between the "Extreme" and the "Ultimate" versions of Terminator 2?
I just picked up the "Extreme" version tonight. I was enticed by the price at Best Buy - $14.99. Only after I got home did I realize the yellow sticker was covering up the original price of $13.99. Damn them!
I went to read the reviews, but it looks like they refer to the "Ultimate" edition, not this one.
Any info appreciated.

I guess you would be bummed to find out it has been only $10 at many places lately.
It has a different transfer and totally different extras. I have read many picked up both, but I'm cool with Ultimate only.

Yeah, you got ripped on that price. You can get it for $10.63 shipped, with no tax from DDD.
The Extreme edition that you have contains the best picture quality of the 2 sets. And it also has some cool extras.
The advantage of the Ultimate edition is that all of the extras (and there are a TON of them) are unique to that edition.
Personally, I have both...

I started a thread about this awhile ago, what I found was.....
For extras... get Ultimate
For transfer... get Extreme
Can't make up your mind... get both.
I haven't gotten either of them yet, but if I had to choose, I'd take Ultimate.

Yup, just saw on Deep Discount it's $10.63. Total.
Now I gotta wonder - do I be cheap and return this to Best Buy and buy it from DD? I haven't opened it yet.
According to the DD description, theirs is in the metal case. Best Buy only had it in cardboard cases. But I read that the metal case often damages the keepcase inside.
AND the 2 for $20 deal?!?? Now I gotta do something. I even asked about the price - because of the signage, I thought $14.99 was some special markdown - and NO ONE mentioned the 2 for $20 deal.
But of the ones they offer, I don't really want any of the others. Already got Breakfast Club. Maybe Dead Poets. Maybe Ice Age. No other "must haves" for me in there.
Damn them!

Interesting. I haven't noticed a non-metal version cover. I commented on the "Limited Edition" sticker recently while stocking them at my Best Buy cuz of this. I'll have to look again tomorrow.

^^^No, I noticed my Wal Mart is now selling a cardboard cover version of the Extreme Edition.
However, I got the metal cover, and fortunately, I got my off without very much damage at all, maybe just a little tear or "pinch" of the cover-art cover plastic.

Which cut is on the Extreme version? The Ultimate has three different versions through seamless branching and of the three I prefer the longest hidden version. If the Extreme version has that one on it I might just get it for $10.

The "Extreme" edition has the theatrical version and the "Director's Cut" version...it doesnt include the hidden version from the Ultimate collection.
Personally, I own both. Ultimate for the extras, "Extreme" for the commentary (which i thought was pretty good).

I own both, but I would stick with the Extreme for picture quality. I haven't watched a lick of extras on the Ultimate. What are you going to watch more often, the movie? or the features?

I had to hunt through about 2 dozen Extreme DVD's when they first came out to find one that wasn't scratched to hell. They damage VERY easily.
But the main differnece is extras. Extreme edition has virtually nothing, I bought it for the commentary track. I think of it more as a companion to the Ultimate Edition.
