What November release?

Again, the Extended Edition will be out in SEPTEMBER, not November.

The Ad for the EE says Holiday 2004 for the release.

There is no ad for the EE yet. They haven't even put out a press release.

However, Video Business reported that the theatrical version is due out in May, and the EE in September (technically the beginning of "Holiday 2004") - hopefully it won't come out the same day as Star Wars, since it'll get lost in the shuffle if it does.

I want the EE, and it can't get released soon enough.

I want to have my own little complete extended edition viewing.
Yes, I know it's nerdy...

This should be the first purchase towards the last double-dip I will ever take (hopefully).

Ah, that must've been really early.

They've recently announced a September release for the EE.

I wonder what the source of that image is - it hasn't shown up in any of the video store business magazines.

So I'm guessing by the color of the plastic that the EE book will be blue?
Yep.

I'm sure New Line will add the Oscar wins before May.

But no "Into the West" music video? That kinda stinks.

Looks about the same as the previous theatrical LOTR releases extras-wise.

I'll give it a rent to check them out, and hold out for the EE as I did with TTT.

And great news for y'all anticipating the box set but who have already bought all the DVDs available:

http://www.eonline.com/News/Items/0,...,00.html?tnews

New Line is also beginning work on a trilogy box set, which the studio hopes to release in two to three years for those who prefer to buy all the films at once; however, it is unlikely the set will include any new material.

"What we're going to do with both theatrical and extended versions when we come out with Return of the King is provide a sleeve that will fit all three versions in there to be able to bind it altogether…but there won't be any added-value material [in the trilogy box set]," says Lasorsa. "We don't want to create any buyer's remorse."

I will wait for the EE. Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

if they do provide a box for all 3 to fit in.

I wonder what the Collector's DVD Gift Set will be like. It's covered by a blue cloth in the picture.

Thedigitalbits has also updated with a bit about an LOTR boxset, basically they would want to make it worth the customers money, and if so, would be several years off.

Good to here, let's hope they allow us to buy the empty boxes that they are making to hold the three releases.

Why does every single LOTR thread end up a....

"I'll just get the EE"
"I'll get both"
"I'll wait for the mega box set on super-duper-uber-XDTV that comes out in 2020"

...waste of space?

Doesn't anyone get tired of repeating this cr@p?
