I'm not really worried about DVD Profiler anymore, as this downtime has left a bad taste in my mouth.
I'll keep an eye out for a desktop/online DB that works for DVDs (and preferably CDs too).

I might have to start using DVDAf. I've got about 80% of my collection on Guzzle already (I stopped putting my collection there after the 5th disc wasn't listed with them). If I find myself a few hours to spare this weekend, I'll be there... with my buddy Gut

I was at the site a short time ago and saw that feature but didn't try it out yet. I put in a few titles, played around with folders and even did a quick look-see at the forum.
At least it looks like it won't take as long as I thought.... once I figure out how I want to organize

I may be in the minority, but I don't even care if they aren't giving us the "truth" of what has happened. As long as it's back up in a reasonable time (reasonable being a month max, for me), I could really give a flying fish (to put it nicely).
That said, if they are just beating around the bush and they are out of business, or whatnot, they should just say so ASAP. I do not belive that is the case, however.
I'll wait until I find out what the resolution is before I get pissed

Hopefully we'll hear something concrete soon. It's not a huge inconvenience, but it would be nice to have them online sometime soon - especially since I just recently paid the $25

DVDProfiler database confirmed only temporarily down...
We have all been a little concerned because of the sudden disappearance of our collections this past week. Finally a posted note on the problew. whew
Looks like the InterVoactive folks are frantically trying to bring it back up.
For our comfort, here's a copy of Jesse's post:
"Hi, yes I'm the Jesse Slicer of InterVocative Software. I'll cut right to the chase. Our server got hit hard with some strange network resource-consuming something or another. The web is not functioning, our email is not functioning, FTP is not functioning and our remote administration is not functioning.
We are working closely with the very helpful folks at SkyNetWEB and they determined that we need to reinstall the operating system. The good news is that it is on a completely different physical drive than all of our data and you can rest assured that none of the web or collection data is affected.
With response to John St, our server is not co-located with them yet. We have a dedicated server with them but within a month will have a much better co-located server designed from the ground-up to scale very well with respect to the future of DVD Profiler and other products we have plans for.
Apologies to everyone for any downtime and we hope to have everything smooth again in the next day or two. We'll be playing catch-up on a bunch of stuff this weekend, so I thank you in advance for your patience. "
Happy Collecting,
Looks like life is still good.

People, EPKJ just buys the DVDs, he doesn't actually watch them.
Anyway, SkyNet is a reseller - so they may or may not have an uptime guarantee (edit: they do - they have a 100% uptime guarantee!
http://skynetweb.com/) or be at all reliable. I retract my earlier statement that their ISP is a good one and known to be reliable. That's true of their actual provider (Server Beach) but not necessarily true of SkyNet (since I know nothing of them except that they're a reseller for another company's service).

I asked for an explanation of what I did not understand.
That is not productive at all. I think you owe pro-bassoonist an apology.
