Milestone numbers in your DVD collection

For those of you that have reached certain milestone numbers in your collection such as #50, #100, #500, #1000, etc Did you plan on making a purchase to state the exact movie you wanted at that number or did it just happen? I'm always keeping track of my DVDs, knowing exactly how many and when I bought them. I knew when I was coming up on a certain number like this week when this certain title comes out it will be my #100th DVD. But now I'm closing in on my #500th DVD and I'm kinda thinking I'd really like it to be something important. I know it sounds lame and trivial but hey that's why we are here. Have you planned a purchase for a milestone number in your collection?

I always mark the 50 milestones in my collection but about the closest I've come to what you are saying is picking which one of a group I get about the same time I pass the milestone I want to use for the milestone.

I never know exactly how many I have, so this wouldn't work for me.

I only have about 185 titles, but for #100, I wanted to make sure it was special. I chose "The Decalogue"

Not sure what I'll choose for #200 though.

Me either. I noticed last week when I was entering some I purchased that I had gone over the 100 mark, but since I entered a bunch at the same time, I don't know which one was actually my 100th.

I'll give a third vote to this one. Aside from keeping a fairly accurate count in the Profiler, I usually buy more then one at once, so the exact milestone is never really noticed by me.

I didn't even start keeping a record until I already had about 130, as it wasn't a true obsession of mine until then. Now I am at the 274 mark according to Profiler.

Honestly, if I actually noted all the milestones, it would probably scare me into not buying as many. Because right now, I am thinking:

"Damn, I spent the money to get 274 DVDs? Am I friggin' nuts???"

This is why I do not pay attention to milestones.

I don't bother. Considering that when I upgrade I always sell the older version, my collection numbers change fairly frequently.

I don't do anything special to commemorate a milestone but I do know that the next dvd I buy will be #666.

#1 Leon: The Professional
#100 Fantasia Anthology
#200 Yojimbo CC
#666 Sol Bianca CE
#800 Looney Tunes, Golden
#1000 ?

I try to make the "milestone number" a pretty good title/package whenever the opportunity arises. However, it's been mostly random, especially as of late.

Same here. I remember my first (The Matrix) but that's about it.

As I get closer to #500, I'll have to think about getting something special. Problem is, I buy as they get released so hopefully they'll be something cool released close to when I hit #500. Maybe I'll try and project my target date and see what's being released around then.

Numbers are these things that the Criterion Collection created.

100 was Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, I think. Guzzlefish said I hit 100 with that, but I'm not sure if they really had all the DVDs I owned in their system to acurately count.

nope....and since over time a few will get culled from the collection those that stay will have their numbers bumped down.....so it's a silly exercise to begin with. I love them all, they are all special

Thats actually a good idea...Im going to have to think of one when I hit 50 in my collection. I think I have the lowest amount here...I count it at 33 currently..which is quite sad.
