Such a thought has never entered my mind, I don't even know precisely how many I have, something like 270 titles, but "Friends" season sets are 4 discs each, "Indiana Jones" is 4 discs, "Sopranos" is 5 discs (isn't it?!), and so on. So, if you happen to buy a multi-disc set for #50 or #100 or whatever, it must drive you crazy, eh?!

When I ran out of room in the house for them I can't get more shelves because there's no more room to put the shelves. I have around 700 DVDs. Now I'm VERY careful about what I buy simply because of the room issue.

boston george, may I suggest "The Omen" as your next DVD purchase ?

As for me, I'm closing in on the 500 mark myself (at 470 right now). But since I almost always buy multiple titles at a time, and usually online to boot, it's pretty difficult to identify any individual title as a milestone. Although I do believe a low-budget double feature of Carnival of Souls and Horror Hotel was the first DVD I ever purchased, about three years ago.

The only one that mattered to me was #1. And that was Ronin.

No special purcahases for any milestones. They just happen.

Well, it's hard for me because DVD Af said I hit 400 (I think the Alien Quad's 4 movies put me right at 400 ) titles a while ago, while Profiler lists 398 entries. I have 3 dvd's in the mail, so if they get here soon then one of them will be 400. If not, it will be Sleeping Beauty: Masterpiece Edition. I guess DVD Af's is the more accurate count with boxsets and such, and if so, the Alien Quad is a damn fine 400th dvd .

Just looking back...
#1 was Swordfish, although I don't have it anymore. The first DVD I actually bought was Joyride, I think.

50 - The Conversation
100 - Goodwill Hunting
150 - Van Wilder Unrated
200 - Spiderman
250 - Animal House

I'll be at 300 in a few days.

The first DVD I purchased was the MGM release of Casablanca. I don't own it anymore, having upgraded to the Warner SE.

I don't remember the first one I bought. There were so many great deals(and freebies) I just started with around 20.

The first DVD I bought was either The Vanishing - Criterion or Rush Hour (that Jackie Chan, he's such a nimble little crime fighter, ain't he?). I'll probably pay attention again when I near the 1 million mark -- maybe pick up a Superbit or some such to mark the occasion.

I stopped keeping really good records at about 500. I don't even update Guzzelfish anymore. I guess I have 1000 give or take a few. I do too many resales and exchanges. It takes all my energy just to keep from buying dups.

The first ever dvd we rented was Twister,The first ever movie we bought was Practical Magic....but I didn't like that. I didn't want to go down in the books for that to be my first DVD..So I traded it for Pleasantville. Then about 3 month last year I had to sell some to make some money. But I did make it to #50 but My sister lost some of my dvds when she moved and I sold some more so my collection went down. I haven't sold any in a while and I don't plan to anymore. I just am trying to build back up to it. I am collecting shows now. Right now I am at the #42 mark. I have 8 more to go before I reach it again. I won't sell anymore DVDs and one of my resolutions is to make it to #100 by the end of the year. the #50 and #100th DVD will be something special.

No milestones or special purchases. I just buy movies I like, I'm not a collector per se.

The only one I remember exactly was my first, Vegas Vacation. I bought it the same day I bought the player at Fry's, back in 2001.

#300-Easy Rider, mind you this number only includes the DVds I have now, not the ones I've gotten rid of
