Details: Kill Bill: Volume One

Hey

We've just received official details on volume one of Kill Bill, which will indeed arrive on the 13th April. Retail is set at $29.99. Hopefully this isn't the final spec sheet, as only one special feature is listed right now! The artwork isn't available yet either. Here are the details we have so far though anyway:

2.35:1 Anamorphic Widescreen Presentation
English Dolby Digital 5.1 Track
English DTS 5.1 Surround Track
French Language Track
Behind the Scenes Program with Quentin Tarantino
English, Spanish Subtitles

As you said, hopefully these aren't the final specs. The DTS track is nice.

Doesn't it seem likely that Vol. 1 & 2 will eventually be released as a "special edition" set with a third disc of special features?

That's what QT has already stated was his intentions. a sort of black hawk down sorta example. a pretty skimpy version out first and then a suped' up version to follow.

I'll buy them all.

Screw the 1st release, I'm gonna wait for the special Vol.1 & Vol. 2 version. But the DTS sure's tempting.

Well, Mirimax have just told me that's it for the extra material. Just that one feature.

Well this better not be a waste of a 'two disc release Quentin hinted at,lmao. That would be pathetic.

I guess I was right on my assumption that the many 'different' extras he allued to possibly be on two discs 1 & 2,then a super duper ultimate release was way off course. Not enough material to do that. So I am sure all that material will be saved for the 'final' release.

Sad to see,no uncut option. Miramax could easilly slip by their 'no unrated'/NC-17' policy by including the unrated as an extra feature via seamless branching.

This doesnt sound 2Disk enough, sounds 1 disk, but the DTS is awsome... I will own everything Kill Bill related on DVD (yes, I am a loser that loves QT)

I'm buying it, and thankfully it has dts, but I will buy the big box set. Now, what I think will happen is, vol 2, will come out bare like this one, and then 6 months down the road, we will see the big set.

Sounds good, but I'll wait for both films to snatch the eventual SE with both films.

I've always said that I would buy the first release, day one...but damn, that's all we get for 20 bucks, after a long delay? If that's the final specs, I too will wait for the SE...

I would expect the Uncut.. or should I say color fight scene to be in the 2-disc.. then again, you can always go with a different region for that one.

Both films should be on DVD in the Fall. I would imagine a very sweet box set loaded with all kinds of tasty extras. Hopefully the uncut versions as well. I, too, shall pass on buying this first release in April. Seems like a waste of money to me.

Trailers.

Miramax must die if those awesome trailers aren't on the disc.

This is one of the few movies that I actually will watch the extras, so I'll undoubtedly pick up the mega set down the road. In the mean time I'll be happy with this puppy and the Japanese disc which will hopefully be out around the same time. God, April can't come fast enough. Just thinking that we were supposed to have this a mere 21 days from now makes me .

^That's a cool poster, but Pei Mei isn't in Vol. 1 and neither is Bill--Or his face at least.

But I hope that there's a custom cover for the "super-duper" edition that'll resemble this:

I've seen a bigger version of this poster that also has Hanzo,Elle,Bill,Pei Mei,and Sofie in it. Can't find it online though.

I'll pass and wait for the SE, I'll rent it (probably a few times) instead. Tired of double-dipping, even if this is a great movie I'll save my hard-earned $$$ for a disc they actually put some effort into.

I have the CD, but they aren't in DD 5.1 (at least the one on the GoNY disc is)

I love this movie so much that I can't be pissed at the lack of extras, I'll just be glad to have the movie on disc... and DTS has me really excited for this now... SWEET.

After seeing the first trailer many months before this films release, I was a bit of a skeptic. However, as the release date drew closer and I heard more about the film, it began to pique my interest. After seeing it in the theaters, I really did enjoy this movie!

That being said, I think I'll be holding off for the SE set down the road. I really commend QT and/or Miramax for given the heads-up to their customers regarding the SE edition, prior to releasing any of the discs.

Must resist. I think I'll wait for the eventual boxset, hopefully there will be one instead of V1 + V2 back-to-back 2-pack.
