Less is more

the Indy DVDs are great, I agree pointless animation that you can't skip really gets old quickly

MEMENTO was indeed a shit menu. I don't even bother with that disc because it was so annoying.

I do like some creative menu interfaces though...but they get way out of hand.

the LE edition of HALLOWEEN was cool.

Requiem for a Dream...makes you think your watching some crappy late night talk show.

Old School Unrated for the nice topless shot of the cute girl.

It's been awhile since I saw it, but I remember really liking the menu for A Bug's Life.

I like a kind of middle-ground as far as animation goes - static menus are just plain boring, and I'd like some kind of movement. But, too much and the menu becomes truly annoying. I'm fine with transitions, too - as long as they're short, which most of them unfortunately aren't.

Here's some of my favorites:

Rashomon: Criterion Collection
The X-Files: Fight The Future
Memento: Limited Edition (screw the nay-sayers)
Rushmore: Criterion Collection
Pearl Harbor: Vista Series (Director's Cut)
Akira: Special Edition
One Hour Photo
Do The Right Thing: Criterion Collection

...and probably tons more I can't think of right now. I tend to favor menus that somehow tie into the movie itself, and I don't really like those overdone 3-D menus much (The Abyss, Die Hard, etc.).

i hate static menus, im never in such a hurry that i cant sit thru a menu. on the other hand, i dont like the ones that keep looping, play through once and then get static.

as for which ones i love, House Of 1000 Corpses is probably my favorite, House On Haunted Hill (remake) and From Hell are awesome too.

Everything else, IMO, is crap.

Rejected has a really funny menu.

The special features are marked as "WASTE TIME" and you're greeted by the "Mah spoon is too big!" guy when you go to that menu.

I like the Godfather menus.

Reasonable length of background music, and the video, while definitely moving, is never obtrusive. I do not, however, appreciate the spoilers in one or two of the menus.

Fight Club has great menus, including the FBI warning that morphs into a Tyler Durden warning. Godzilla 2000 looks great too, with the big angry green guy roaring at the poor folks fleeing beneath him. Monty Python and the Holy Grail has great menus animated by Terry Gilliam.

I just picked up the Waynes World collection, and these are very creative, I'm suprised no one mentioned it.

Old School Unrated was okay but it was just the topless scene from the movie. Van Wilder Unrated has the best with the nice close up shots of Naomi and all easter eggs.

Having just watched the whole disc through I gotta say the Ed Wood SE menu is pretty catchy... It's a shame must of you won't see it for a while
