I think DVD's will devolve into a simpler technology. DVD's and even VHS tapes will no longer be available. Movies will be solely released written out on paper, and all these pages of paper will be compiled into a device called.....a "book". No special player will be required to enjoy these new inventions. We will be forced to use our imaginations, seeing the scenes in our minds as we want to see them based on our own intelligence and/or life experiences. Each movie/book will be different for each reader. Our modern actor will have to find work elsewhere, naturally, and studios will save MILLIONS on special effects.

Naaaaaaaaah.......that'll never go over.

Interesting no one in this thread is mentioning EVD (enhanced versatile disc), China's new "Super DVD" format. Here are a couple of interesting articles about the format:

You can find many more articles online just by using a search engine on the terms "EVD China"

Any thoughts on this format?

But average Joe might start complaining when broadcasters stretch the 16:9 image to fill the 4:3 screen. Two or three weeks ago, ESPN did a Sunday night game that way at least for a quarter. I am not saying that all the programs will be that way but there is a chance that broadcasters won't be able to do pan & scan or centering of the image on every programs.
