Police Academy boxset - June 2004!

http://www.zetaminor.com/whatsnew.htm

Comedy fans are in for a treat with Police Academy's 20th Anniversary Special Edition along with The Complete DVD Box Set of all 7 films!
Hooray!!

Ephemeral_Life 12-16-03 01:31 PM

I remember enjoying about half of the films when I was a kid, especially the first one. I may pick this up for nostalgia's sake.

This might also be the boxset including the most films on the IMDB "Bottom 100" list ever.

SFranke 12-16-03 01:34 PM

That's an R2 site. Maybe we'll get something stateside (IE individual releases priced at $15 each).

jmj713 12-16-03 01:35 PM

Seems logical that we'll get it here at the same time. They're getting My Fair Lady at the same time, for example, and the Oscar Winners in February too.

RyoHazuki 12-16-03 01:36 PM

I doubt many people here will pick that up. These people were bitching about having to get Temple of Doom in the trilogy instead of Raiders and Crusade separatley.

jmj713 12-16-03 01:37 PM

I don't know. I like having a series. Otherwise I feel incomplete...

Geofferson 12-16-03 01:39 PM

I sure hope the box set is available for R1!

chente 12-16-03 01:52 PM

I'll pass, I didn't really like any but the first one.

nickmondo1 12-16-03 01:58 PM

Ye i really think this is a horrible idea. Unless its super cheap it will not sell at all, the only good one is the first one but besides that they all pretty much blow hardcore.

RobCA 12-16-03 01:59 PM

Great news! I hope we get it here in the US, along with this:

Warner hit a real purple patch in August with a trilogy of Prince musicals including a two disc special edition of the mega-hit Purple Rain, based on his best-selling album plus it's sequels Under the Cherry Moon and Graffiti Bridge.

Rammsteinfan 12-16-03 02:32 PM

If it is at a reasonable cost, I will get the set. I can watch the first five, its the last two that are kinda hard to sit through.

What he said. :D

jmj713 12-16-03 03:49 PM

You can bet it'll be cheap. Only the first one is getting a SE tratment and I doubt it will be one of WB's 2-disc SEs. You you're looking at 6 barebones disc with an SE. Should go for around $50... less with STL.

majorjoe23 12-16-03 04:40 PM

Only available in a box set? Pass. I only want Mission to Moscow.

digitalfreaknyc 12-16-03 06:44 PM

How do we know that only the first is getting SE treatment? The others had A LOT of deleted scenes added to their respective TV airings. In fact, when I first watched the home video versions, I was amazed at all the scenes that were "cut out." WB needs to add them.

Doughboy 12-16-03 06:44 PM

Looks like I'll finally be able to replace the MAR Police Academy DVD I've currently got.

Corky Roxbury 12-16-03 09:00 PM

lets hope they are all in widescreen

jmj713 12-17-03 10:34 AM

Yes, hopefully all deleted and added-for-TV scenes are available. Even if they're open matte or P&S. Pretty please.

Same here.

I remember enjoying up to Part 5, I think... But I'll pick up the box, for collection sake and It'll probably be cheaper in the long run.

As I understand the 20th Anniversary SE of the first one will be available separately, as well as in the boxset, and I think the rest will only be in the boxset. Which is cool, cause I'm getting all 7. Mission to Moscow was fun!! So kill me.

demonio 12-17-03 03:13 PM

I really enjoyed 5 & 6 both! I'll get it!

bigjim25 12-17-03 03:50 PM

I've seen all of them but after Steve Guttenberg wasn't in them they started sucking.
I'd still buy the box set just for the first 5
Police Academy (1984)
Police Academy 2: Their First Assignment (1985)
Police Academy 3: Back in Training (1986)
Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol (1987)
Police Academy 5: Assignment Miami Beach (1988)

These 2 can just be coasters for my drinks
Police Academy 6: City under Siege (1989)
Police Academy 7: Mission to Moscow (1994)

jmj713 12-17-03 03:55 PM

No way! All 7 are classics! :)

Police Academy is in its own genre and thus I can't wait for Police Academy 8: Space Odyssey! I'd also buy the 2 TV shows based on the movies.

boston george 12-17-03 06:18 PM

I would totally buy these! Lets just hope it's cheap.
