I couldn't tell you to that. All the info they gave me was what I posted above. I just tried the phone # myself, and it rang, but nobody answered. It could be because it is almost 7:30 in the A.M. on the east coast, where I live. I'm taking a guess that we won't see the V3 disc untill after Christmas. If it comes any time before that, I will be shocked. If works correctly, I will be in even a bigger state of shock. Hell, I'm still in shock I got a letter from them in the mail, instead of an e-mail. From what I hear some people aren't getting a reply at all. I just hope to get a working disc sometime in the near futare, and as for Universal, I will not be buying thier DVD's untill I read somewhere that they actually work.

I also got the error message when trying to dial. I tried at 2:00 CST, several times right after that, then placed a series of more calls at 4:00....This was after sending them three emails over the course of a week. No response. Hell, I wouldn't have bothered trying to contact them at ALL about my crappy replacement disc, had it not been for them sending emails and letters to others saying it would be fixed...

...As of now I still have no idea if a replacement disc is on the way to my house, if my information is in their system so they CAN mail said disc when it is ready, or if they are just going to ignore me altogether! As I said in another thread, I will not support anything from Universal again (DVDs, CDs, or theatrical films) until I get a working copy of Meaning of Life!

I just received "V3" (not really, its still labeled V2, but this one actually works!) I wasn't given any prior notice, but here it is, in my mailbox. A preliminary check of the first chapter (the mini movie in the movie) and it is truely fixed! I have not done a thorough check, but other than one white dot that looks like it got mistakenly put on the chin of the first executive walking by, with a checklist, I noticed nothing wrong! I assume that white dots/lines are not anywhere else in the movie....(It kind of looked like a telestrator line you might see Madden draw over on a football replay)

My boycott of Universal products is over, although I still doubt I will buy anything of theirs on release date, so I can be sure of quality control....

Today, Friday 12-5-03, I recieved my replacement-replacement (!) disc. I'm happy to report that the problem seems to finally be squashed.

Well I'll be damned!!! Mine just showed up a little while ago, via UPS, and YES, mine works as well. It came with a little slip of paper that had a different phone # for Consumer Relations Department. This one was...

Just in case someone needs it.

Okay, what the hell is going on? I called today to get my pre-paid envelope and the customer service lady told me that the replacement discs won't ship until November! Are they serious??? I have to wait 10 months for them to send me a replacement disc? And I'm supposed to send them my faulty disc now and expect that they'll actually remember to send me a new one come November? Yeah, right. Just like they promised to have v2 Back to the Future sets on shelves by February 2003. God, Universal sucks.

I think they were reading from the same prepaired statement they had back in October. That's supposed to be November of 2003.

Is the latest corrected version of this DVD marked on the package? Is there any difference between the first V2 that still had problems and the new, improved V2?
I was thinking about getting it at a local store, and wondered if I could tell if it's an updated version.
Thanks.

Where on the box or DVD does it say "Version 2". I bought a copy from Target a few weeks ago. Would it be a new version?

Any help is appreciated.

V2 is printed in small print at the very bottom of Disc One on the corrected version. Noone has yet reported that they got the corrected V2 disc through either an online or B&M purchase. Being that the corrected replacement discs have only been available for about the past two months or so, I wouldn't have a high level of confidence that corrected versions have hit the stores.

I went through Universal's replacement process and it took less than a month for my replacement disc to arrive. I would suggest doing this. It's an inconvenience, but there's no additional cost involved (other than time.)

So, the V2 is printed on the actual disc????

I've been holding off buying this one as I wanted to make sure I get a problem free version....

I keep calling their number during their business hours and all I'm getting is a freaking answering machine.

Did anyone else have this problem and does someone know their e-mail?

Add my voice to the chorus. You'd think Universal would see the benefit of getting plainly-marked corrected versions onto store shelves. They'd save a fortune in shipping costs.

I called 1.888.304.0608 two days ago and spoke to a person. It may be that they only have a couple of CSRs answering the phone. I found it hilarious that she was reading the same thing that the Universal letter said in an earlier post. I was just reading my screen while she was reading her screen. She even said the 'won't be shipped until mid-November' line, which is in reference to last November

Well, I broke down and bought the disc and it's a defective one. Tried calling the phone # provided, but just got an 'out of service' recording, so I ended up emailing Universal.

Just waiting for a response from them.

I just got the V2 version from Columbia House, but I'm not sure if it's the correct V2 because I don't have a progressive scan player. How can I find out for sure if it's the right V2 without possibly sending my disc away for an unneeded replacement? Is there any type of date listed on the disc that I could look for with a DVD ROM drive, like with Jurassic Park from a few years ago.?

Well, got an email this morning from [email protected] and got the standard email form:

Universal Studios Home Video is aware that a small number of DVD players do not have the technical capability to take full advantage of the 'Monty Python's: The Meaning of Life' disc format. This is a player specific issue that results in the appearance of jagged video interlacing on disc 1 only. Disc 2 is not affected.

Consumers with an incompatible player may mail back disc 1 to Universal and receive a replacement. Please reply with your full mailing address and we will send you a prepaid envelope in which to mail back the original disc 1. Please include only disc 1 and not disc 2 or the case itself.

Best Regards,

Universal Studios/Alliance Atlantis Video
So, i guess you can still do the exchange.
