Sorry to go back a discussion or two, but if the Stormtroopers are really the Clone troopers, then they would all be aroudnd 50-60 years old or so in the Old Trilogy.

No wonder thay can't shoot straight anymore!

Who's to say they stopped making them past the original batch?

Matrix Revolutions had way more believeable effects on similarly implausible subjects, even though it was a horrible movie.

Don't attack me because you're a sheep to anything Lucas Qui Gon Jim
I did not attack. I stated my opinion.

I am a huge Star Wars fan. I have no qualms about admitting it. I am also a fan of Matrix, LOTR and countless other series. It seem ever since the release of TPM, it is the "in" thing to bash Lucas and anything he is involved with. I feel that those that follow the crowd, ie bash anything Lucas touches (the Hulk's FX, Harry Potter etc.) are the true "sheep." The "Lucas sux" angle is soooo 12 years old. Here's an idea: Have an original opinion. Instead of saying "AOTC sucks, illustrate your point with some evidence. Or will your evidence be "everyone thinks it sux?"

To say that the effects in Matrix 2 are better than AOTC just proves my point. Those were some FX with the 100 Smiths, eh? Like any movie, AOTC, Matrix and yes even LOTR has some effects shots that just don't work. Yoda was every bit as impressive as Gollum technically speaking, and the Gollum vs. Jar Jar comparison is not fair since there were years in between one character and the other. Personally, I think the CGI achievement of the last 3 years is Sully from Monsters, INC.

From a non-biased position, and not counting story which is another debate altogether, how you can say the FX in a film where 95% of the environments were CGI, look bad? Like the story or not, the artists at ILM deserve kudos for their work on AOTC. I also think that Weta did a great job on LOTR. You CAN like more than one movie. The fanboy police won't kick in your door and take you away.

Well actually Pixar would have had a better script so maybe thats not acurate.
Now I would not really disagree with the spirit of your post, but I don't think you can say that FX are bad becasue there are too many effects shots.

If I understand you correctly, you are saying that all the FX in the prequels makes the settings a bit sterile. I would agree with that. I think the way some of the shots in TTT look having been shot on location, outdoors, on real grassy hills adds a ton to the atmosphere of the movie. I wish the prequels had more of that.

My comments were not really on the FX's impact on the films, or the plots, but more on the quality of the fx themselves. The artists at ILM are brilliant, and they don't deserve their work being put down because it is "cool" to hate "Luca$."

As happened with the Warchowski Bros. and Lucas befor him and countless other before them, Jackson will make a mistake and all these rabid little fanboys that love him so will turn on him just like all those before him. It is inevitable. I already hear more bitching about ROTK that I have about the first two films put together.

Please, learn how to read before replying to my post again with pointless rhetoric. Who bashed "Lucas and anything he is involved with"? I'm still a huge fan of the original trilogy. But I guess it suits your arguments better to just make stuff up. And just because I think AOTC wasn't good, I don't have an 'original opinion?' Here's an idea! Why don't you get an original opinion instead of being like your fellow Lucas sheep? Works both ways don't it? Do I have to write a 2 page essay explaining WHY I thought AOTC failed everytime I mention it?

Also, "Revolutions" is not "Matrix 2" so I'll just disregard everything your wrote in that paragraph. Again, please learn how to read. It might do the world some good.

"how you can say the FX in a film where 95% of the environments were CGI, look bad?"
Wow, just because a film has 95% CG environments automatically means the CGI
looks good? Maybe if I use my computer to add 95% crappy CG to my home videos they'd automatically be visual masterpieces? Get a clue.

You reply yet do not site one SFX shot that was not well done. You reply in anger, and can offer nothing to illustrate your point. What effect exactly did Weta accomplish that ILM could not?

I think that in both films, the FX are damn near perfect. I can't really pick one as being better than the other. The both have strengths and weaknesses. But the rabid Lucas haters can't possibly admit that. The only involvement Lucas has in ILM is signing their paychecks.

Here is another point: Most people did not "hate" the SE Trilogy until after TPM was released, and it was then fashionable to hate Star Wars. There was not even close to the amount of negative SE sentiment there is since TPM came out. People camped for weeks and weeks for TPM, and the hype was like Jesus Christ himself was returning on that date. Of course people were going to be dissapointed! IMO, ROTJ is no better a movie than AOTC. Both are very entertaining once you get by the hype and get over the prequels=sux opinion.

I hate to say it but fan boys are fickle. I stand by my statement: Jackson will become so popular (he is just about there IMO) that pleasing his fans will be impossible. Hopefully he will have someone better than Rick McCallum advising him what is good and what stinks (this is Lucas' huge weakness IMHO). His fans will turn on him and move on to the next big thing. Ask Quentin Tarantino about this phenomenon, he's experienced it too.

For the record, Matrix Reloaded is Matrix 2 just as ROTK is LOTR 3. Perhaps I misread that Revolutions (Matrix 3) was brought up and not Matrix 2.

Did you type the message (Spelling, grammar, punctuation...) above as a put down to Star Wars fans? If you did, it was very funny.

If you did not, here is some "simple corrections" that might help you in the future when you slam Star Wars fans. I am not a great speller, so I use spell check all the time.

I will buy anything Star Wars, George Lucas can empty my bank account as long as I have Star Wars and Star Wars accessories. If I can have my Star Wars on dvd I will be pleased, even if I end up homeless .

Come on you guys...STAR WARS is coming to DVD. STAR WARS. If you're checking out this thread, then you more or less have some kind of anticipation for it, be it from the fanboy "i-can-die-happilly-now" POV or just the "this-is-gonna-sound-great-in-my-home" HT enthusiast approach. And if you don't fall in any or between of those categories, could we refrain from the threadcraps? Can't we all just be happy that this is finally happening, regardless if it's a barebones,"childhood-raped" SE or the Classic version? This is STAR WARS you guys...STAR WARS.

The problem is that according to some of the people in this thread, the SE's aren't actually Star Wars.

Please share some of whatever you're smoking with the rest of us. It's obviously very good stuff.

Personally, I want Lucas' final editions of the film. As far as the Han shooting first and the voice of stormtroopers...I don't care. Much the same way I don't care about Baby Herman millisecond-long finger gag, or Jessica Rabbit's nanosend-long crotch shot. In fact, I probably would've blinked when that was supposed to happen anyway.
