At least Han will shoot first. So he does have a shred of sense.

I wish he’d also put back some of the lines he censored.

Example: On Degobah, Luke tells R2 “you’re lucky you don’t taste very good” when he gets spit out. WHY was this changed to “you’re lucky you got out”.

And on the Falcon/Asteroid C-3PO originally said something in the lines of “this is suicide” it was changed to “we’ll never get out”.

Original: "Oh, this is suicide"
SE: "Oh, this is suicide. There nowhere to go."

There are a bunch of other dialog changes in ESB too. A few sites discussed this back in '97-98. The response from Lucasfilm was something to the effect that there were several different soundmixes for these films, and the one they used for the SE just happened to differ a bit from the one that we're used to.

Frankly, I got the impression that no one at Lucasfilm really noticed until the fans pointed it out. I always got the impression that the SEs were pretty half-assed, given some of the obvious stuff (like Vader's white saber in ANH) that wasn't touched.

I thought of something. He’s basically ruining the fabric for Star Wars. I mean, you’re supposed to watch IV, V, VI THEN I, II, III. But now for them to make sense you would have to watch I, II, III, IV, V, VI

Which is unfortunately how he wants everyone to watch them. I've always maintained that the Holy Trilogy should be watched BEFORE the prequels, regardless of what order they're told in.

First of all, the 2nd greatest twist ending of all-time(after the original Planet of the Apes of course) would be ruined if you saw Episode III before Empire. And secondly, would you really wanna show someone who has never seen a Star Wars film before The Phantom Menace as their introduction to the series?

What really bothers me about these rumored Archival Editions is that it looks like Lucas is retroactively trying to make the original three films gel with the prequels when it should be the other way around.

That is so true, the most punch line which manifested itself into people’s culture for the past 20 years and was referenced in movies, talk shows, jokes, etc etc will simply be no more.

It better be a damn good overhaul he’s planning!

I am new. I've been reading for a while and decided to bite/join the fun.

my question, how many times will these films be "upgraded"? Do we really need to make sure that a certain character is never played by a different actor from film to film - EVEN when the films were made 25 apart from each other?? Are they going to go back through all of the bond films and digitally insert Pierce Brosnin? (a stretch, i know! just making a point). When Episode III comes out on DVD, and I sit on my couch and watch all 6 films in chronological order (I know many of you are already thinking of this day too!!), I am not going to mind that anikin was played by a different actor, jabba was human in ANH, etc.

just my 2 cents - be gentle.

Why doesn't Luca$ just do re-makes of the OT from scratch? Then he can have his continuity, and fans can keep their OT intact?

i can't stand Lucas and his desire to "update" everything old so that they "fit" better with the newer chapters. looking back at the Original Trilogy Special Editions, i cringe whenever i see the added scenes, and feel they ruined the simplicity and moods of the original scenes. for example, adding CG inhabitants to the tatooine scenes made the movie feel more like Ep 1 & 2, which felt so cartoony. now lucas wants to modify Original Trilogy actors' faces and voices to complement the new stuff....why EFF with them? they're perfectly acceptable the way they were...we don't need to see so-called improved versions that will look horrible down the road.

You're wrong. The viewer is intended to watch them I-VI in order.

The changes sounds like they would be better than the crap that was called a SE. But I also heard that this is just a fanboys list and that the SE will be released next sep (personally I would rather have this list or better yet the originals!!!)

Also, if someone saw ep I first then there would be no shock that the little creature in ep V was Yoda!

Maybe Lucas should ask Weta Digital to redo the CGI in all the movies - they might be believable then.

Actually I think Weta poached some of ILM's finest (as well as those from other studios). So it is kinda like ILM and Digital Domain are working on it

I personally dont like the look of the new star wars films, its very cartoony. That being said I still kind of feel sorry for ILM, they seem to have lost their way lately. Lucas taking most of the staff onto Star Wars means that many of their best people are unavailable for other shows and so the quality suffers across the board.

I dont think they have won an oscar for many years (not sure how many, but its been a while). This is quite sad for the most famous Effects House.

I believe that they got two in 2002 (I think). They were technical awards, but still . . .

As for the rest of it . . . you go, George . . . make them the best films that you think they can be . . .

I was thinking more of Best Visual Effects. I think the last film they won for was Forrest Gump in 1995.

Come talk to me in 25 years, many grounbreaking achievements, and 3-4 dozen Oscars later, if WETA is even still in business by then.

By the way folks, Moriarty has already debunked this. This list started out as a fanboy wishlist on the AICN talkbacks a long time ago. Besides, how can anyone with half a brain think Lucas has made all these changes in the middle of making Episode III? He can't. Those changes are silly to boot, so stop getting so damn worked up over a silly, completely untrue rumor. Good grief.

Um . . . what?

Wallace Shawn?

The guy who played Vizzini in The Princess Bride?

Not only is he still very much alive, but he had nothing to do with Star Wars . . .

I'm confused . . .
