Just tug on the damned thing gently. If the case is damaged, return it to the store for a second one and try again. This isn't worth wasting a lot of brain power on.

BTW. I got the stick off, now I gotta think about how to remove the goo left over. I got NO paint thinner, lighter fluid or nail polish remover.

Then I'd go with Goo Gone (every home should have a bottle of Goo Gone!). It seems to be less harsh than lighter fluid or paint thinner.
A bottle is about $3 at Wal-Mart and will last you forever.

I wouldn't advise nail polish remover, lighter fluid, or anything like that. I tried that at first and it lifted up some of the colouring from the box.

I've decided to wait till tomorrow and go buy some Goo Gone from Walmart.
My worry is that if it's safe to use on the special boxes that the Extended Editions have.
Tips for this product? Or should I avoid it on these boxes since it's not plastic.

I've used the hairdryer on many types of stickers, DVDS and CDs, take out the discs and any booklets, and put the case on a dry towell or something and just blast the hell out of the sticker. It should pull off quite easily. I discovered this after I left some DVDs in the car in warm weather, and I noticed the stickers were easier to take off.

I was working with a blow dryer on this sticker for about 2 hours.
The glue must be different than usual, because it did barely anything.
Either way, the sticker is off now, but I am gonna buy Goo Gone to get the residue off today.
Hopefully it will work.

The Canadian copies of LOTR has GLUE ON THE STICKER. The US one didn't.

If it's causing you this much stress, why don't you simply return it and mail order a copy from the US? Based off your posts and your obvious frustration with this, I'd think it's worth a few extra dollars for your peace of mind. Enjoy the movie now and return the ripped box after you get an American version.

Be extremely careful with GOO-GONE. On some printed surfaces, it can strip the ink off. I would really suggest putting a tiny amount of GOO-GONE in an inconspicuous area and make sure it won't damage the ink.

And yes, SOME people were ignorant. I was never stressed out. Just annoyed.
And your little cute reply doesn't help either. Take your own advice.
BTW, I'm not gonna bother viewing or posting in this thread anymore. I ask for help and this is the crap I get from some people.
THANK YOU to those who DID help. I really appreciate it.

The sticker is different than the US because by LAW they gotta put french on the sticker so the french know what's on the DVD. Why they decided to put glue on it, I have no idea.

after it.After that, I offered up a valid solution to your problem. If the US cases don't have the glue, and the glue is destroying your case, and it's bothering you (or annoying you if you prefer), then order a copy from the US. If you don't want to order a copy from the US, then don't. But it is a perfectly valid solution to your problem.
As for the "Take your own advice" line, I honestly don't understand your point. I'm not having this problem. What advice of mine should I follow exactly?
