What's your Two Towers situation?

Just like FOTR, I bought the theatrical cut of TTT in August, and will buy the EE gift set on Tuesday. I just have to own both, and I've gotta own the gift set of the EE. I'm a huge nerd.

Only the EE. I had both cuts of FOTR but ended up giving the theatre version away.

It's all about the EE. Did that w/ the 1st one, gonna do it w/ the 2nd one, and will complete the set w/ the 3rd one.

FOTR:
Bought Theatrical, bought EE gift set (kept both)

TTT:
Bought Theatrical, will buy EE gift set (will keep both)

ROTK:
Anybody sense a pattern here?

I'd buy the gift set, but I'm a poor bastard.

I bought FOTR Theatrical and EE. I've bought TTT Theatrical, will buy EE. Same for ROTK, unless Jackson pulls a Wachowski on us.

Wouldn't a "Wachowski" mean making an absolutely incredible movie, and then tacking on two mediocre sequels? I think Jackson has already shown this isn't the case.

If ROTK turns out to suck, it would be a Coppola.

I'm using Wachowski a bit more generally. As in making an amazing movie and then smearing it with shit.

But yes, I believe you're right.

I can't believe I'm the only one who is just happy to own a cheaper version of the movie and nothing else.

It is at least commendable that Jackson and New Line have not duplicated any content between the theatrical and EE releases. By buying both, you essentially have a six-disc set of the movie--two cuts of the film and a whole slew of extras.

Are the theatrical extras different from the Extended Edition's extras? I'm studying film and would like to get the one with the "The making of" extras.

I want the EE edition simply because it shows how the director envisioned it.

What was that? You're going to get the EE on Tuesday? Wow. That's great. Congrats!
