I hear the Directors cut makes the 3rd film much better, imo I thought it was the worst one but maybe this directors cut will change my mind,I always thought it was incomplete I guess I was right lets just hope it fills some holes that where left in the film.

As mentioned before 3 and 4 isnt the best in the series but they may all be great after this set comes out but 1 and 2 are classics.

I have to say the only thing really interests me is the new cut of Alien 3. I might just wait and grab that, if they put them in the slim double cases it'll go right into my Alien Legacy box. And I even sorta like Resurrection as is. I'll definitely wait for more reviews on that one.

Has there been any word on what the packaging is going to be (i.e., Digipak, Keepcases-in-a-box, etc.)?

Wow, this looks to be THE set in which all others will be measured against. Can't wait to pick this up!

The Digital Bits review says it's a digipak.

why there's no DTS on ALIENS?

i thought ALIENS got most of the action, so DTS is required there... rather than ALIEN

this is sad, i've been waiting forever & they only deliever this half-ass

I think that I remember hearing that it was a space issue in both cases where there is no DTS (#'s 2 and 4).

Sigh. Digipack.

Of course, the 2-disc editions could be digipacks, too.

But, USA Today on Nov 3 says Dec 2.

And, finally, Amazon lists it without a price (as of 1:00 PM eastern on Nov 3) as Dec 2.
I've got STL on this, with the release date showing 12/16/02, and an estimated shipping time of 2-3 days!

With STL, it's $62.99. I hope it's not some mistake on my part. I don't want to end up with the old box set after waiting all these years for the new one!

btw, the ship date is 12/5.... I'm wondering what to believe, now!

Woooooot !!!

But why does Amazon have this listed with a 2-3 day ship time with the option of buying it today ?!?!?

Huh ?!?!

Because even Amazon.com makes mistakes.

Hey guys, if I'm correct, the 9th disc will include the alien legacy documentary right? I saw the specs on the front page and it says the 9th disc will have alien legacy on it...that means the doc right? It seems someone said earlier in this thread that it won't contain it but it looks like it does. Can anyone elaborate?

I think I'm going to buy a new chair because the old one is not going to last!
45 hours! how cool is this. Some very nice things included like the new version of alien 3, with I'm really looking forward to, the commentary to aliens, Camerons' commentary on EE T3 rocked.
BTW the alien evolution documentary was on over here 2 nights ago, I didn't catch it but I hear it was good.

It has been confirmed by sources that have seen the set (The Digital Bits, etc.) that the Legacy documentary IS NOT on the 9th disc.

I saw the specs on the front page and it says the 9th disc will have alien legacy on it...
Where? I don't see this anywhere.

Bam!! Dec. 2 is going to be a cruel, cruel day for me. I'm going to have to put some of that stuff on my Christmas wish list. I just can't buy the Quad, DS9, Alias and the couple of other things I want. Not unless I just skip Christmas for everybody else!

Can't wait to snap up this box set.

interesting what is left out..

1) alien legacy
2) Alien saga
3) extras from the Alien Legacy box set...

Why? they ran out of room? heck - if they are going to create a 9 disc set, why not just do a 10 disc set and include everything?

I find it very strange that after $100 and 9 discs, I still have to get 2 MORE discs (and keep my old versions) to get everything..

is it just me, or is this weird to anyone else?

Word is that the 9th disc documentaries pretty much almost everything from Saga and Legacy. It's not as if each documentary is 100% unique.

I think it's strange to have dropped Scott's previous commentary. How much space could that have taken? not much, that's for sure.

A commentary track takes up about 200Megs, give or take on length of movie
