2 more months? You didn't graduate high school did you?
2 months and i won't have to waste money or shelf space or time and agrevation ebaying #'s 3 & 4.
and in 2 months, the movies i do want will have their own cases (i'm sure the Quad set will be some sort of digi-pak).

OMG! Check out that commentary listing for Aliens. Is that like, every credited actor in the cast or what? Wow.

Good question. Maybe she wasking for a high fee to participate?

Great to hear that the 9th disc will include all of the supplements from the laserdisc boxes (those didn't all make the transition to DVD in the previous version).

So, the commentary track on the current Alien DVD will not be included? Right?

Anything else (besides the Alien Legacy 5th disc) that isn't making it into this set?

The Alien Saga Doc I believe. (just released on DVD)

edit: also the Alien isolated score. Hmm...I may have to hold on to that disc.

I think I am going to skip the box...and just pick up Aliens when it gets released.

I saw the Alien: Directors Cut and it isn't that special. A lot of the Alien art is already on the Alien disc.

The bonus disc doesn't look that meaty - Alien Saga and Legacy are not included. I could care less about the Dark Horse comic covers.

Ah, good catch. That -- along with the commentary and the question of how well the seamless branching will work -- is reason enough for me. Looks like I'm going to have a 12-disc set! (Alien, Alien Legacy, Alien Saga, and Quadrillogy.)

So DTS is included only on the first and fourth(which I've erased from my memory) Alien films? I'm surprised Aliens didn't get the same treatment. Oh well, at least I can finally own the theatrical cut of that movie.

I don't like the fact that the trailers are on the 9th disc. I don't wanna get the box set since I hate the third and fourth flicks(which they never made, BTW!!!), but I also love the ads they put together for the Alien series. What am I supposed to do?!

I could do that. But I was hoping to sell off the old discs to lessen the cost of double-dipping.

No involvement whatsoever from David Fincher? His commentaries on Fight Club and Seven were awesome...Also, I would rather have Cameron's commentary be by itself, or with maybe one or two other people...the one listed sounds like a cut and paste interview-type "commentary" that was used for T2 UE...

Still it's impossible not to read those specs and drool...

So, just based on the specs, anyone else think this is the "best" box-set every released?

I think Fincher has pretty much washed his hands of the film (much like Lynch did with DUNE).

I would have loved a James Cameron commentary on alien 3.

It would be the best 2 hour bitching session ever

Looks to be a nice set. Too bad the old features from the current discs weren't ported over.

Still no pre-orders on this bad-boy. What are eTailers waiting for?

This has no shot to outsell the Indiana Jones boxset, for several reasons:

1. These movies do not have the universal appeal of the Indy movies.

2. The violence will keep a lot of family oriented buyers away.

3. The list price is a lot higher.

4. With the movies being available separately, a lot of people will only buy the ones they really like (there are an awful lot of people who only like the first two).

Bottom line: I'll be surprised if this sells 1/10 as many copies as the Indy set.

Brian,

Excellent points!.

The heftier price tag will turn off some people but It should sell over 100,000 copies in R1 anyway imo

I guess the real question in my mind is what is on the 9th disc. So far, the digitalbits stuff looks good, but I wouldn't mind picking up Alien and Aliens seperately and leaving the rest in dust. I really can't stand Alien3 and Alien4, so those would be sitting on my shelf with 0 viewings.

Hmm, I dunno, I'll see how the reviews of the Aliens 3 cut are, and if I can find a good deal on the set maybe I'll pick it up.
