I'm extremely happy with the Indy set. I would have enjoyed a little more in the way of extras, especially the deleted scenes that were briefly mentioned in the docs, but what's there is fantastic.
It was definitely worth the wait IMO.

I must say that it is unfair to compare any older movies released on DVD to LoTR: FoTR EE. The simple fact is that LoTR was made with DVD in mind. Older movies were not. The LoTR creators documented just about everything they did. Older films simply didn't do this. The fact that we even got new documentaries for Indiana Jones is gravy is far as I'm concerned. I have a big feeling that when Star Wars comes out many people will be complaining about the same thing.

Actually, Muah'dib, all three Indy films were EXTENSIVELY documented. Perhaps you haven't watched the fourth disc of extras yet, but those clips from on-the-set and behind the scenes were all culled from much longer and more in-depth documentaries. They could easily have made a seven-disc SE out of this (an extra disc for each film, PLUS the current fourth disc).
In any case, Paramount will be releasing no fewer than THREE Indy-related docs over the next year (previously released on VHS only) so we'll get our bonus features eventually - like the Matrix Revisited.

I stand corrected Jough but I still stand by my premise that people expect most major movie releases to match LoTR. It's just that you see threads about this all the time. I'm simply wrong in this case. I'm still happy and think it was worth the wait. As long as I get the movies in the best possible presentation then I'm happy.

Anyone else disappointed with Indiana Jones packaging?
Well, call me shallow...but after the initial euphoria of finally getting these discs with decent picture quality and sound, I have to say that I wish they could have come with packaging that was better than just a cardboard box. I mean, come on! This is INDIANA JONES!!! If there was a trilogy that deserved a truly spectacular package design, this would be it. How about packaging that looked like a wooden crate like the one that the ark was eventually hidden in at the end of Raiders? Or how about something like a leather bound case or bag? Heck, they could have made this an instant collectible by making a limited number of copies available (a true limited edition) like some of the lunchbox sets that we've seen with anime (I'm thinking Serial Experiments Lain for example).
I wish for once that we would get the all-around coolest DVD editions in the U.S. Look at what's been done overseas with Amelie (limited tin box edition), Brotherhood of the Wolf (limited 3-disc edition), Dances with Wolves (Japanese leather saddle bag edition), etc. Indiana Jones is just a huge opportunity missed. And that's a best case scenario. Worst case would be a re-release with boffo packaging, which I would definitely end up re-buying. Sigh.
Alright, rant over. I'll crawl back into my dark viewing room now.

I'm sorry...but, I'm sus tired of all this bitching with the Indy boxset. Now someone is complaining about the box it came in? People, we got the Indy Trilogy on DVD. Be happy! When it comes down to it THATS what we want. Not some flashy box, not 200 hours of extras, or blah blah blah.

Too gimmicky for me. It's a nice plain box, with good cover art and nice feel to it. Only thing is that i wish the case would hold the dvds a little tighter. Of course, its better then being unable to get the discs out.

I have nothing to complain about. I think the set looks great. The box is fairly sturdy, the disks are in keepcases, and the art and graphics are beautiful. Heck, they even came with inserts. Anything else would have been overkill, and a waste of space.

Just be happy that they are in keepcases. I do like the look of the Godfather set, but it is so easy to damage. The Indy set looks great. And as was said above - we have Indy on DVD!!!!

I love the box set. I wouldn't change anything about it, besides the fact that if another Indy is made...this box will become useless unless I take out the bonus disc.

They could have packaged them in clear CDROM cases for all I care. I like nice packaging as much as the next guy, but I am just freakin' thrilled to have one of my favorite film series on DVD... (now I can retire my LD backups). So, no, I do not mind the packaging at all. Simple, yet classy - perfectly fitting for a great group of movies - in my opinion anyways.

Of course it was worth the wait - are you kidding. I've watched all 3 movies and enjoyed them more than anytime I ever viewed them including in the theater the first time. I still have the extras disc to watch and can hardly wait.

Having never owned these on LD, this is the first time I've ever seen Raiders in Widescreen. God, it's magnificent.
Great films, they look and sound great, nice 3+ hours of extras, keep cases, inserts, a nice sturdy box, well-designed packaging and artwork - I have nothing to complain about this set.
And neither should you. For shame, when there are so many more horrible releases to be complaining about.
This is one where you should just say "Thank you" to LucasFilms and then shut the f*** up.

I don't mind the box, but it's just kind of big since they used keep cases for each movie. I would have rather had it like BTTF or Godfather where the box is thinner. I do like the color and coverart.
While Raiders looks very good, I wish it looked as good as Temple of Doom. But, overall, I am very happy with the set and I think the extras were very informative and well done.

It looks like the SW:OT:SE discs will be out around this time next year, if rumours are to be believed.
Remember, we heard Indy rumours like this around this time last year. So they've proven to be reliable.
And they'd really push the Episode III theatrical release in May 2005.

Was IJ worth the wait? Yes, but I wish it was release a few years earlier.

Yes, but we have heard rumors of SW being released every year for the past 4 years. So, there will be a year the rumor is true, but do not count on it being next year.
