I watched them on Sci Fi too, but I would most certainly see GMK at a theater if it came to my town. That's how it was intended to be seen!

I haven't seen these two. How do they stack up compared to other Godzilla flicks?

IMO, GMK is excellent, one of the best of the Heisei series, but G X Megaguirus was a bit of a letdown.

I would just be happy if they put Godzilla Vs. Monster Zero back in production...

Good stuff though

At least it WAS in production, so a copy can still be obtained. There are others that have yet to be released (Godzilla Raids Again, Godzilla vs. The Sea Monster, Ghidrah the Three Headed Monster, etc).

In fact, I'm going to go see it tomorrow night in Oakland!

Looks like there might be a January release date for these two, so says this site.

DVD talk doesn't have it on their "Coming Soon" list, however.

Those covers stink... to put it nicely.

Why can't they take a lead from the Japanese and use a similar style of artwork that is far more in keeping with the "mood" of the films (even to the extent of keeping the original Japanese title text accompanied by an English translation).

Probably because they want as many people to buy them as possible. I'd love to have cover art that looked like the Japanese movie posters too, but I'm a Godzilla fan. The average movie watcher/dvd purchaser could probably care less. It needs to be easy to read right off or they'll pass right over it and find something else that interests them.

If they actually make it onto the final product, yes.

Unless you count the 1990's Gamera movies that ADV put out.

Also ADV'S The Complete Daimajin and Tokyo Shock's Gappa the Triphibian Monster. Any others I'm not thinking of?

Regarding the cover art: to be fair, the art for the new GMK DVD is the same as the photo style Japanese theatrical poster (except for the English writing of course, and a red background instead of the original blue sky background). I can definitely live with these new covers, I just hope the DVDs themselves are well done.

I agree, maybe if these sell really well, they'll go back and redo some of the older ones with uncut Japanese prints.

But that coverart is pretty bad.

Oddly enough, I think the coverart for G98 is pretty neat.

Barring any last minute pulls, looks like the Japanese is a go!

The more the better, but I hope all the old ones are not forgotten. This will go great with the Spectreman set I just bought off of e-Bay.

From what I read it looks like Classic Media is looking to release Monster Zero, as well as Frankenstein Conquers the Earth and War of the Gargantuas next year. Let's hope they do the discs a whole lot better than they did the Ultimate Godzilla box set.

Yor, The Mysterians Ghidrah would be well appreciated as well.

Yor... did you mean Yog? Anyhow, those and many other titles would be nice to have (i.e., Varan, Atragon, Godzilla's Counter Attack, Mothra... the list goes on and on).

Hopefully with '04 being Godzilla's 50th we'll see more and more of the older titles getting released.
