Everyone who is looking to pick this up, check out this thread from the bargins fourm. A site has it for $14.90. Excellent price. Wish I hadn't paid $30 for it. Link to the thread is below.

I just ordered TRAFFIC (CC) and I KNOW WHERE I'M GOING (CC) for $14.90 each.
I just checked the site and when I searched TRAFFIC (CC) didn;t show up, but I KNOW WHERE I'M GOING (CC) is still there. Good Luck.

It's easily my favorite Criterion of a recent Hollywood movie.

I had ordered a copy from outpost.com the other day, the order went through fine.
I got an e-mail today though, saying my order was canceled because the title is "no longer available from the manufacturer".
This usually indicates it's OOP, at least for the short term.
Luckily I picked up a copy from Best Buy today.

I wonder if all of this has to do with changing cases like they did with Armageddon? That double-disc jewel case is considered OOP so I wonder if they are doing something similar with Traffic.

So, Borders is returning them, not gonna carry 'em anymore, and John says they're not going out of print...

I would guess it's new packaging - I believe whatever JM says
Regardless, I picked up the last copy off the shelf at Best Buy today since I have been wanting to upgrade my copy (I owned the Canadian version) - and yes, I know there is no difference except the box. But I need the SPINE NUMBER!!
Canadian version now up on ebay...hopefully the upgrade won't be too expensive once old version is sold.

That's an interesting response from Jon Mulvaney. While Criterion has no plans to take it out of print, Universal might have some plans. Considering the scarcity of this title, it seems there might be some rights issues at work here. It just seems odd to me that this dvd hasn't been available at several major dvd sites for months.

Yeah, true. But the Armegeddon double-wides weren't pulled from the shelves, were they? I know they weren't at Best Buy anyway. I ain't lyin' here, two Borders stores here in Dallas said that it was on their return list. Why would they be pulling it from their shelves. If you don't believe me, call your Borders and ask 'em if it's on their return list yourself.
Maybe speedy can tell us sumthin.

They did not pull the Armageddon Criterions from the shelves with the case/cover change. There were still thick cases and thin cases sitting on the same shelves together for many months.
The sudden disappearance of this title means it is out of print. Nobody said permanently out of print. But for the time being, it is currently out of print. If it was in print, it would be available.
