FYI. I was in BN today, and they had T2 Extreme with a cardboard slipcover, looking exactly like the tin slipcover. So in case any one was thinking of waiting for this, it is already in the market, not that I would buy a DVD at BN. But I assume they will start to filter into other stores.

Sure seems like Artisan had planned for this. Kinda fishy.

Sure they planned for it...but not in the way you are thinking. The metal case was limited...and not every retailer ordered them.

The stupid metal cases are all scratched up to some extent anyway (besides having them warped and beaten up). I went through a great number of the EE in various stores and the paint/printing is scratched off the metal case. The corners of the case where the two ends of the metal sheet meet are as sharp as razors. I bet you can use it as a box cutter too.

...which begs the question: Can you bring T2:EE with you on a plane?

I got my case on Sat from Artisan. That wasa quick turnover from the time I emailed them till the time I got it.

I got mine right away, too. It only took a couple of days from the time I e-mailed them!

Like I said before, it sure sounds like they knew there would be a problem, but let the metal cases go out anyway. I guess I can't blame them, I'm sure the vender they paid to do the cases screwed them over with no time to fix it before release day. Maybe they were hoping it wouldn't be a big deal, but got ready for the exchanges all the same. Besides, it's not like we paid a premium price for the "collectors case" (think Evil Dead: Book of the Dead for a premium case price!) So call, get a replacment case, and call it good! Can you imagine the uproar if they delayed the disc just for the stupid case? It's not like the discs are defective.

It sounds to me like it already is a box cutter, in that it rips the keepcase to shreds. Zodo beat me to the airplane joke, but I half-seriously wonder about travelers who purchase their DVDs out of town and have to go through the airport with this possible instrument of destruction. Maybe I would recommend waiting to purchase it locally or online. Now that most of the B&M sales have ended, it's probably cheapest at DDD anyway.

All you need to do is just e-mail them your home address and it's a done deal? Seems too easy to me, but hey, I got no problem with that.

I am very surprised how quickly they sent it.

Like most, my "Extreme" case destroyed the spine. I took it back to Circuit City and opened a second one at the Customer Service counter. Same thing. I just got my money back. I'm not knowingly gonna pay for a defective product -- I'd rather wait for a better solution. Too bad, because they metal case looked pretty cool. On a related note -- wonder why they didn't include T3 movie cash with this? That seems like the current trend and is definitely cool.

Because Artisan isn't making T3 (no way they could afford to). I'm pretty sure it's Warner Brothers who produced it.

That's it!!

I sent the e-mail hours before I even bought the disc

But I did buy it and the replacement arrived minutes ago.

Now maybe I'll have the courage to open up my still-sealed copy.... still debating whether to keep it or just be happy with my UE.

I can only say that the transfer of the EE is just fantastic, easily among the best I own. No complaints about the DD5.1EX sound either (and I'm usually a DTS junkie!) Why exactly did you buy it if you aren't going to watch it?

I have the UE and am still 50/50 about the double-dip

so -- I bought it to take advantage of the 14.99 sale, so now I have 3 months* (Target's 90 day return policy) to decide if I relly want it.

*I'll probably open it up tonight, guess I'm not so 50/50 after all

Well, it also sort of comes down to what kind of display you will be watching this on. If all you have is a 20" tube TV, then this new transfer might not make much difference. However, if you are watching it on a nice digital widescreen set, then you should see a big difference. I'm just glad I waited (this is my first T2 DVD) although I may rent the UE to check out the spec. features.

I have a Toshiba 20" (one of the newer ones) and I can tell you first hand that the difference is noticable.

However, the parents own a 50" or so TV, so I also bought it for that as well...but hey, I'm very happy with my purchase, as the movie looks amazing on the 20" TV.

Metal Case & HD

Maybe I'm just too demanding, but I don't think another plastic case to put back into a metal shredder is going to make me feel too much better. How about a redesign of the metal case and send it out, in addition to the plastic case? Given that anyone that ran out and bought the Limited edition metal case is probably a big DVD buyer, and a big fan of Terminator 2, you'd think those would be the last people you'd want to piss off... so, make it right by redesigning the case and sending it to those who request one. In the meantime, pull all those current metal cases off the shelf.

Also, has anyone watched the HD version of the movie yet? I can't get it to work... it says it's getting the license, and to click the Play button below, but the Play button is grayed-out and unclickable... so I sit there staring at it for about an hour (I had a book) and decided it just wasn't going to work. Anybody get it to work at all?

Have you read this thread? The last 2 pages have had plenty of people posting that they got their cases within about 4 days of emailing Artisian, me included.

I received my "replacement" case today. And, surprise, the bottom is missing a piece. So now I have a T2 case that is torn and one that is cracked.

Lucky me.

Called the number, they gave me an e-mail adress and I e-mailed them about what happened and gave themmy name and my address. But I've yet to receive a reply from them.

To those of you that have already received your replacememnt cases, did they just send them or did they e-mail you back to confirm and then send the cases?
