No, I think it has the S-Mart ending.

I'd be surprised if that's the case, since the Sci-Fi Channel and Universal Home Video are part of the same corporate family.

Also, the american print is grubby-looking and cropped on all four sides.

Another Army Of Darkness release, that's really crummy considering the fact that this year I already bought the boomstick edition. Heh, I should have expected it though. Whenever you turn your heads, there shall always be another relesae of Army Of Darkness and Halloween! heh

Wish they'd just get the damn thing right and be done with it. These annual releases are getting to be a joke.

"They" are entirely different companies. The content of these discs, at least domestically, haven't changed since 1999 (Universal's from 1998, Anchor Bay's from a year later) -- just the packaging.

Once again, this is NOT another RE-RELEASE, it's a repricing of Universal's original "AoD" DVD. Yes, that's Universal, not Anchor Bay. This thread is ridiculous. If people would actually take the time to read the thread instead of overreacting this stuff wouldn't happen.

I also get sick and tired of people bitching about the Anchor Bay re-releases. All Anchor Bay has done is made everything available to everyone. I personally bought the 2-disc LE not too long after it was released. It quickly went out of print, and all Anchor Bay has done since then has made everything in the 2-disc LE available to anyone who wanted it. If they had pulled something like Universal with their "Ultimate Editions" it would be worthy of anger, but Anchor Bay has never given me any reason to want to spend more money on the same movie. The only thing they can be accused of is causing confusion, but they haven't forced anyone to "upgrade" to a better edition because they've just made the same two discs from the 2-disc LE available in different packaging configurations.

Maybe for AoD, but didn't they put out like four different version of "Evil Dead" (not counting the various picture disc versions of one of them)?

This is probably just a price drop. . .Vertigo and some other existing movies are listed on there too, just means a price drop most likely.

I'm pretty sure there was only two. There was the see-through plastic case one, and then there was the BotD which was the same thing as the new single-disc release. Elite also has their own Evil DVD, though. But hey, it's all good. Whatever they have to do to make enough money to keep cranking out these cult hits with pristine Anamorphic transfers, DD5.1 EX/DTS audio, and nice arrays of special features is fine by me.
