For some titles even after 4 or more DVD releases they can't get it right. I have the Starship Troopers SE and have previously rented the first first release of the movie. Both editions are awesome in regards to A/V quality and extras. My only complaint is Verhoeven on the commentary yelling as if the mic was in his mouth..almost shattering my eardrums on what was at a relatively low volume settting.

Well that makes two 'suckers' then as it's the only one i own at present and ever likely too, unless the 'rumoured' Black Hawk Down Superbit happens and as you mentioned initially, they decide to release 'Heat' as a SB

I couldn't find a review of these titles online. Are the DTS tracks a full bit? I would be interested in J.P. and Fast and Furious.

You missed Scarface Superbit. The most sought-after Superbit that's not in the US. Available only in "Asian import".

This list is freakin amazing. Why the hell is R1 getting screwed again??...Aern't we the people who saw all these movies to begin with??..It seems to me we should get the best titles possible..Not the crappy left overs (excluding Das Boot)

Cheers!

I still can't stomach the idea of giving money to COlumbia for their Stupidbit releases. Just release the best possible version of the movie, and add a second disc of extras if necessary.

And how much room does a commentary track really take? And what about a simple background pic? I love the SB of Fifth Element, but only because the original disc was just as bare bones. But at least it had a fricken picture on the menu.

There are some really good Superbit Titles out there. Das Boot, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Gattaca, Fifth Element, Dracula and The Patriot ... no slouches. Yeah there are some crummy ones too....and there are some titles I'd like to see that aren't released. I'll tell you what though....do an A/B comparison and the sound and picture quality is CLEARLY SUPERIOR....if you don't believe it take a look at Das Boot original vs SuperBit. Although bonus features are nice, I gladly sacrifice them for a dts soundtrack and a better picture.

I appreciate Columbia's effort to put out a quality product instead of playing the game of adding a few extras and calling it a "Super Deluxe Special Limited Edition Director's Cut"

Titanic Superbit?....Let's hope.

Okay, one place to get the Japanese Superbits is at:

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/

Mind you... they aren't cheap! You are looking at about 40 per DVD not including shipping. They are Region 2 NTSC.

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=SB-32402 - Mummy Returns

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=SB-14593 - Few Good Men

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=SB-19669 - Last Action Hero

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=SB-30745 - Jurassic Park

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=SB-30747 - Jurassic Park II

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=SB-33308 - Jurassic Park III

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=SB-24029 - Jumanji

http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=SB-32097 - Gladiator

You can also try amazon Japan. You can find some coupons if you search other forums to save about 500-1000 yen if you spend more than 2000 Yen.

And for the record X, MGM + Superbit = No chance in hell

If interested in the Fast and the Furious superbit, do a search here:

http://www.dvdpricecheck.co.uk/

The picture & DTS track already are great on the original release.

Titanic would never be a Superbit.. wrong company!

Is the Japanese Superbit of "Gladiator" in DTS-ES 6.1 or just 5.1 sound?

According to the website, it is both DTS & 5.1, as all Superbits are.

I really hope I see Spider-Man as the next Superbit. I really think this one would benefit.

are they any English-language reviews of the Japanese Superbit titles?

In regards to "Gladiator" - the image might be cleaner on the superbit edition, but I think I'd rather have the extra 7th channel of sound in the surrounds (DTS-ES) than just 5.1 DTS sound.

Starship Troopers

Yesterday's news at dvdfile.com mentioned August Superbit releases for The One and Vampires, but Starship Troopers wasn't mentioned. Anyone know anything about this? I really hope Starship Troopers gets an August Superbit release.
