BREAKIN and BREAKIN 2 were released theatrically by Cannon.
The R2 DVD of BREAKIN is full screen. So, our version will probably be the same.
I have the R2 DVD and in all honesty, it isn't a bad transfer. There is nothing to pan and scan, no dancers cut off. If you've seen it on cable or video, you know you aren't missing anything. They weren't real widescreen films.
Not to get into the whole "I'll buy only OAR" vs "At least it is on DVD" argument again though.
Same with LAST AMERICAN VIRGIN. That was a Cannon release. I don't care if it is full screen or not, I just want it on DVD.

Wow, some nice '80's flicks in there and they'll probably be pretty cheap! I'll pick up:
8/5 - Agent Cody Banks, The Sure Thing: SE, Valley Girl: SE, Last American Virgin, Bright Lights, Big City, Hot Dog: The Movie, Johnny B. Good
8/15 - Bulletproof Monk: SE
11/4 - Legally Blonde 2: SE
12/26 - Escape from New York: SE

Yes, MGM is releasing the DVD, but Cannon was the company who released it to theatres.
MGM released most of the Cannon films to video (for example the Chuck Norris and Charles Bronson mid 80's films).

I doubt Stargate: Season 4 will see the light of day on Sept.2. Season 3 comes out in June. It was over a year between 1 and 2. Then around a year between 2 & 3. So I seriously doubt there is a 3 month window for 3 & 4.
Don't get me wrong I can't wait to own them all, but I just don't think it is likely.

MGM released most of the Cannon films to video (for example the Chuck Norris and Charles Bronson mid 80's films).
Around two to three years ago, when MGM was buying up properties to released to DVD (such as Orion and early Polygram films) did they get the Cannon catalog.
Some Cannon films have gotten widescreen transfers (Invaders from Mars) and some have gotten pan and scan/open matte transfers (Chuck Norris movies). If Breakin' 2 is getting a full frame release, maybe the only print they could use was one that was in open matte/full frame.

This is the perfect example of why MGM can get away with horrible Foolscreen editions.

Since this list was accidentally leaked early, I can confirm the following:
Regarding the August 5th titles, all will be anamorphic widescreen in their original aspect ratios except:
Breakin'
Bright Lights, Big City (shame...)
Hot Dog: The Movie
Johnny B. Goode
The Flamingo Kid will be OAR, but will not be anamorphic.
Valley Girl and The Sure Thing will be special editions!
Please don't ask me our source, just trust us!

Hot dog the movie is pan and scam?? Then it is not being released as far as I am concerned.
Hey, do you think they might do Breakin 3?? If they are still doing the Head Spins after 15 plus years, you could call it Breakin 3: Broken. I just need more Shabba-Doo (related to Scooby?)
Mao, can your source let MGM know how upset we are with Pan and Scam Remo Williams??!

All of the old Anchor Bay discs that MGM's now releasing are from a deal MGM did with Disney, MGM has alot of Disney's B product for distrubition now.
Mao, did you happen to hear if Johnny B Good will be the Theatrical PG-13 version or the R-rated Video version?
I still remember the first time I saw Johnny on VHS, I seen it in theaters with my dad & he let me rent the VHS version & I got a nice surprise
