These "October Horror Movie Challenge" threads are for the discussion of the films in the 31 FILM SUBSET list.
The plan is for everyone to watch this film on the October day in the thread title, and to start discussing it the morning of the following day.
You may start discussion early if you want, but the preferred plan is for this to be as much of a group exercise as possible, with all of us viewing it "together" and discussing after.
Of course, you are totally encouraged to participate in these threads even if you haven't watched the movie on the designated day.
Even if you haven't watched it in years, or are not participating in the Horror Challenge, please feel free to chime in.
Spoiler tags aren't always used in here, so if you have yet to see the film BEWARE OF POSSIBLE SPOILERS.

I wasn't sure how this would hold up but it had interesting bits. I have always enjoyed Jeff Goldblum and Ed Begley for that matter and I felt like they played off of each other well. Carol Kane, Geena Davis and Teresa Ganzel all did very well in their roles. Michael Richards is always fun to watch doing his Kramer shtick (even before there was a Kramer). Unfortunately, the sum of the parts was a little too slapstick, but it still brought back good memories of efforts in the 80's to make comedy horror films.

I've seen this many times due to heavy rotation on cable in the '80s. As mentioned Jeff Goldblum and Ed Begley Jr. were great together and I enjoyed the rest of the cast too. A fun re-visit.

Decades ago, I had a girlfriend that looked just like Geena Davis. I wish I had gotten her to dress up like that for me.

This is one that I always wanted to see all the way through as a kid but never did. I always just saw bits and pieces. It's definitely an odd movie. It has some fun parts to it, but it doesn't exactly add up to a great movie. Still, it's a fun cast and certainly a relic of its time.

Light-hearted comedy with the pairing of Jeff Goldblum and Ed Begley that surprisingly worked. 6/10

Okay, we're going to watch a light-hearted comedy for a nice change of pace after a week of scary and disturbing horror films. This will be great.

As I was sitting watching this, I imagined the script having these long stretches of blank pages for major improvisation. It really just felt that way watching this, but I don’t think that was the case. I had not seen this one in ages, and it really didn’t hold up as I thought it would.

I remember frequently hearing of Transylvania 6-5000 running on cable or around but never watched it before now. I'm one who failed to appreciate it's sense of humor - I think there's too thin a device/plot and jokes seem too rambling. Ed Begley Jr shines more as a comedic actor than Jeff Goldblum here but there are so many eccentric characters it's hard for any of them to thrive even when there are funnier moments. It's interesting how little screen time the 'monsters' end up with considering the premise, I think the bellboy gets more time - Twisto needed to take back his film from the reporters.

I'd never seen this. It was a mixed bag for me. As a movie, it kind of sucks. Uber cheesy and silly in a not-good way. On the other hand, it was nice seeing all the 80's stars again. Jeff Goldblum was surprisingly mediocre, but I enjoyed Carole Kane and Michael Richards. It was nice to see Geena Davis except her part was so throw-away. 4/10 with the 4 stars being for nostalgic value.
