To me, after a couple of previews, this film looks like a cross between Forrest Gump and the inside of the mind of Forrest Gump after someone slipped him a cheap hit of bad homemade acid.
I have no desire for this title whatsoever - Im not sure I even want to blow $5 renting it.

WTF?
OK apparently there seems to be a problem with being able to voice an opinion that goes against the nature of a given thread. The originator of the post asked a question about whether this was a good blind buy - suggesting he hasnt seen it yet - well I havent seen it yet, and I am posting my opinion to the tone of NO....most of the other posted replies to the original question, with the exception of a few, dont appear to be qualified to answer this question of a blind buy becasue they clearly state that THEY HAVE SEEN IT ALREADY and therefore have opinion on whether or not they felt it was a good film.
In answer to the question of whether its a good blind buy, I say its not even a good blind rent, and I base that answer on my "blindness" of this film and all I have seen of the trailers - not interested
The guy asked a question, I gave him answer and unless the only answer allowed is the happy sappy one promoting a movie that other people feel happy sappy about, well then what was the point of him asking in the first place?
Everone here has been able to make a semi educated guess just from watching a single trailer, whether or not any particular movie was going to be crap and shot it down without a second thought - the only difference here is, I didi it out loud - Big Fish - no chance in hell.
Maybe the original poster might not care for this type of film....If I were him and I went by the majority of the replies here and wound up hating it, I'd be pretty damn upset.
but whatever
With regards to the question of whether or not I liked Forrest Gump, I loved Forrest Gump, but at least FG managed to mire itself in reality and history which is what made it entertaining...BIG FISH just looks like its a collection of real campy ramblings of an old man who may or may not be heavilly medicated at the time of his "storytelling", and as far as Im concerned, No Thank You.
And if thats not enough, then quoting the immortal words of the great Tom Smothers, while his brother Dick chided him about whether or not he had seen "Paint yer Wagon", where Tom replies, "I'm an American! I dont have to see something to know that its stupid!"

Giving an opinion based on viewing a trailer is certainly not what I asked for, as I am the OP. I wanted viewers opinions of peeps who have ACTUALLY VIEWED it and can make relevant statements to the plus or minus of the movie and therefore the purchase. Not someone who merely watches a 2 min preview and sums up the whole movie simply by using his/her fangled imagination. Thanks anyway.

The purpose of a "Blind Buy" thread is not to ask other people who haven't seen the movie what they feel about it. The point is to ask people who have seen it whether it was worth their time.
You haven't seen the movie, therefore you do not have an informed opinion to share. Movie trailers are frequently misleading about what the movie itself will really be like.
If you watch the movie and still hate it, that's fine. Come back and tell us how much it sucked. Your opinion would then be useful. In the meantime, what makes you think you're qualified to complain about a movie you haven't even seen?

I considered this as a BB, but went ahead and rented it first. I am not a big Tim Burton fan but had my fingers crossed.
Suffice to say, I am glad I rented it first. This will not be added to my library any time soon.

I rented it and really liked it a lot. Not enough to add to my collection, but it was a good movie, and I enjoyed it.

I saw it this weekend and really, really enjoyed it. Great acting, sets, fx, drama, some really dry comedy. Great stuff.
I also thought the writing was very tight -- everything leads to something else which leads to something that happened before. Great use of the 'fish' metaphor throughout as well too.
I really loved it and have been thinking about it for a couple of days afterward (always a good sign). I'm adding this to my collection.

I thought this was an excellent movie. I would have picked it up for a blind buy just from what I heard about it, but after having seeing it there is no doubt I would buy it.
