It's me again, still trying to decide, but now the wife has her eyes on The Frame from Samsung, for both the anti-glare tech and the art mode.
Has anybody ever seen one in action up close?

Re: 4K TV Recommendations
Only a couple of drawbacks. There is some light bleed if watching in the dark. But I've found that we hardly ever watch TV in the dark anymore since the living room isn't reflected back during dark screens. The phone app for the art is kind of buggy, but you can also set it from the remote. It's really worth it to go for the $50 annual sub as there are tons of choices. And lastly, the motion detector takes a while to get right. I'm not sure exactly how, but I finally got it right so that art comes on when you walk into the room and turns off when nobody is there.
I can almost guarantee this will be an extreme wife-pleaser.

That's really good to hear, she's still going on about it. The only issue is what to do with the tower of our HTPC as it's kinda big and currently hides behind our screen right now.

Re: 4K TV Recommendations
Bought the 75" version of The Frame almost a year ago & love, love, love it. I can't believe it's taken this long to get a matte screen TV, but it's a game changer. Between that, the art mode, and the flush wall mount almost no one who sees it for the first time realizes it's a TV. It's not going to perfrom like an OLED but the trade off's are more than worth it (to me).

The LG C4 is coming in March 2024
Maybe the only noticeable improvement is the sound quality

I got a LG C3 65" in 2023 and it seems every day there is a newsoftware and app update and a new license agreement every week that gets updated.
I wonder if the TV wants to take my soul?

So looking at a second set. I really think I want to get an OLED this time. LG and Sony seem to be the best options. Not sure which model. So many different opinions. Probably would use it mostly for streaming/4K discs and maybe some gaming if I move my PS5. Any recommendations?

LG C4 at the biggest size you're comfortable with. LG G4 if you have 'fuck it' money to spend

I love my LG C2. Based on Rtings review, you should be happy with the C4.

Everyone says different.
Some say Sony is the best. Then I hear LG. Then today I went out and browsed and the sales guy told me he likes the Samsung S90 that he prefers over his Sony Bravia.

I like my Bravia but have nothing else to compare it to.

Re: 4K TV Recommendations
The LG B4 looks to be the best value at this point. 1700 for the 77 incher at BB and the reviews at rtings seems only a decimal point or two below the C4.

Re: 4K TV Recommendations
I’m going back to Sony or LG as my top picks. The more I look into the Samsung the less I like it. Lack of Dolby Vision is a big strike against them. I also in general am never overly satisfied with their products so pass.
I’m leaning towards the Bravia 8 or C4. I know both have newer models but I’m not willing to pay quite that much. I might lean slightly more towards Sony. Hopefully soon.

Not sure when I’m getting it but I think I’ve decided on the 65” Bravia 8. Seems like a pretty good option and even though it’s not the newest model it’s a price point I’m comfortable with.

Man, those OLEDs just won't come down into our price range. We can afford big QLED or small OLED and those blackest blacks are incredible, but going down in size or even staying the same just isn't enticing enough to us. We want something new for the den and it may be size that wins the day.

Re: 4K TV Recommendations
We want to switch-up our upstairs and downstairs set-up. Right now, upstairs has the big comfy couches and recliners and a Crystal 4K 55" Samsung HDTV. But really, that space is so crowded with the front door, connected dining room space, and passthroughs to the kitchen, bathroom, and bedrooms. We want to move that furniture downstairs and get new furniture upstairs, something smaller like reading chairs. That will open up the space and, we hope, make it a bit more peaceful there. While we occasionally do gaming downstairs, we barely watch anything downstairs, even though that's where we have the larger Crystal 4K 65" Samsung HDTV. In the midst of all of this, we'd like to move the 65" upstairs, sell or give away the 55" that's currently upstairs, and buy something at least the equivalent or better for downstairs and make that the main viewing venue for TV, movies, etc. It would be a big culture change, but we think it could be better for us as a family and we'd like to try it.
The thing that stumps me is upgrading the TV. We are satisfied with the TVs we have, and each time we've bought a new TV, we've gone up in size. From the 36" tube TV to our first 42" flat screen, to the current 55" and 65" TVs we have now. We want the new TV to be at least the equivalent of what we have, but we'd love to go even bigger. That's where I get stuck.
Poking around TV options, it looks like size isn't the big price factor so much as technology.
$630 75" Crystal Samsung - What we have now, but larger, which is what we want.
$900 75" QLED Samsung - Very tempting, but that's a big price jump.
$1400 65" OLED Samsung - Wow, that is a lot of money for a TV.
$2500 77" OLED Samsung - I'm dreaming.
I hear so much about how QLED is better than what we have, and I'm sure it is. Then you hear about how amazing OLED is it, and I don't doubt it. But man, that price is just so high. Especially if we're going to get some new furniture and pay for a service to move our current furniture downstairs (we just can't do it ourselves, unfortunately). For where we're at, I'm really leaning toward just going for the $630 Crystal 75" Samsung and saying bigger is better and leave it at that, using the extra money we'd spend on a TV on the furniture. I could maybe go with the $900 75" QLED, but that is pushing it.
Who has some thoughts on this? I'm very open to ideas, even if my wallet isn't!

I continue to be very happy with my Sony 55" X-85. Pnly issue is some HDMI incompatibility with my older equipment. It has improved with firmware updates, but there are still some issues (my Oppo 95 will not pass audio to the Sony through HDMI though other newer players will).

Seems LG is getting ready to roll out their C5/G5 OLED TVs, so a price drop on the C4/G4 models should be relatively around the corner.

Re: 4K TV Recommendations
I'll probably be getting an OLED in the new year and I have my eyes set on the LG 65inch G3. It's about 2K but the G3 and G4s have the MLA panels and that's the main selling point that the newer ones do not have.

Re: 4K TV Recommendations
I am very happy with my LG C2 (and amused that that latest patch redesignated the Dolby Vision Cinema preset to Dolby Vision Filmmaker Mode) and am not one to catch the upgrade bug, but their new 4th Gen OLED panels have me seriously considering upgrading early to an LG C5/G5 or a Panasonic Z95A OLED.

I also just realized that with the new LGs they announced at CES, that's gonna bring prices down a bit on the G3's and G4's. Tariffs be damned.

Re: 4K TV Recommendations
I assume 4k is the highest resolution and 8K or higher number 4K are not coming or going to attract a lot of new buyers?
