I would agree that the jump from composite to S-video is greater than the jump from S-video to component. However, don't be fooled when people say that can't see the difference with component. I can easily cycle thru the connections on my Tosh 50in and with a freeze frame, it's quite easy to appreciate. I always like it when people back-up their statements with evidence, so here it goes: Shakespeare in Love. Any scene with Judy Dench in that peacock-looking costume. The color is more vibrant and the resolution is greater with component video.
Still, I'd say to people it's not worth ugrading a new tv for. But if one were to buy a new tv anyways, I alway recommend component.
