refering to updating a dvd player's frameware.

I think you are refering to "firmware". Firmware is kind of like software or instructions that tell the device how to operate. Usually if there are /is a specific problem(s) with the device for example a DVD player that does not work with a dual layer disc, or seamless branching for example this can be fixed by sending it back to the manufacturer or an authorized service center to have the "firmware" upgraded.

One real example is the Sony DVD players from a year or two ago that had a lip synching problem where the video would not keep in synch with the audio (most noticable when peoples lips moves while talking). Sony offered a firmware upgrade to fix it. If you have no problems with the device in question then there is no need to get the firmware upgraded.

Thanks, my Denon-1500 wont play correctly T2-DTS,ID-4 ,but my dealer has already offered me a FULL refund.So im going in that direction.Thanks agin for the responce.
