Coming Soon...The All-New Columbia House.com
This could be good or bad for us. Not sure when it will change, could coincide with the funcash changes in June. There is a link at the top of the left-hand menu with some blurbs about how cool it will be.
We'll see...discuss...

Looks like a mostly cosmetic thing based on this blurb:
"Our website has been completely redesigned. Columbiahouse.com will now be even easier to use, your favorite DVDs even easier to find! What won't change, of course, is our huge selection and our hottest deals."
It boasts:
"Improved search and browse features" (couldn't get much worse...)
"Show from over 200 new genres" (didn't know there were that many to start with)
and
"Find local showtimes and watch movie trailers" (who cares?)
The image shown of the redesigned "home page" looks like everything else does these days... a clone of the Vista interface.

This scares me.
We all know what happened when they did the same to CH.com, and it wasn't pretty.
I expect prices to go up, new "deals" which will be deals only to those who don't know any better, and a huge change with the codes and the sort.
I really hope I'm wrong, but we'll see.
I hope it's just the look of the site that changes, and to be more positive I hope they start to allow Blu-ray discs for all of the codes that we already know and love. How about some B1G1 for those?
EDIT:
At least they still have the "banner" near the top of the page, so hopefully that's a good sign.

True, the banner still appears to be there, along with the "Details->" link.
But, at least in the preview picture, the "Enter Your Online Code" box appears to be gone from the bottom left, and I don't see any link to be able to enter one, unless the banner's "Details->" takes you to a place where you can do that. I hope that's the case, or that this preview page is incomplete.

Yeah, if that's now gone, it sure doesn't look good.

Wasn't the code box just added back recently. I thought that soeme time back you had to click on the details link to enter a code and that it sdint appear on the front page.

I have consistently used the code box for many months. I think maybe when I first started using codes found in this forum that I used the banner, but at some point within the last 3 years (based on when I really started cycling accounts), I noticed the code box and started using it. I can't pinpoint when, but I would guess it's been at least a year that I've been using it.

If Columbia House really wanted to tighten their ship, they would get rid of the sale offer code box entirely and restrict sale offers to the accounts that they issue them to (which used to be the case). I have often wondered why they don't do that. The B1G4F fiasco might have induced them into making the change.
I guess that we will see if any substantial changes are made when the new web site features are implemented.

^Of course a lot depends on just how much folks like us cost 'em. I still believe that we are the fringe membership type and they really don't worry about us too much simply because they make enough from the "normal" members to more than offset our activities. Yes, the B1G4 "deal" *may* have cost them some money, but indications are that they are attempting to hold members to the letter of the deal even if the "click through" was not used and the deal expressly agreed to. Number I'm seeing posted in the "codes" thread seem to indicate an additional 3 purchase obligations for *each* use of the B1G4 code.

yea, it's weird.
I just tried loggin-in under all 5 accounts (4 reg Club - 1 TV Club) and only 1 of the reg DVD Club accts would load up the new CH site. And, that acct is not a fulfilled acct. So, not sure what's goin on.
I'm sure I'm not the only one with access to the new site, maybe just every1 else is asleep at 5:30a., lol.
Good luck,
DaX
