Count me among those who used to use CH for CD's. Unfortunately, their selection of CD's from the 70's - 80's has really deteriorated (at least those available for enrollment).

Back to the bargain issue. Lizard is correct with the horse to water analogy, although I think some of our horses can't even see the water. Maybe we should blame it on poor math/logic skills. The ones that stick out in my mind are those who gladly jump on an enrollment package and then complain about the fact that the fulfillments are a few bucks more than BB; or that the shipping fees are $2 - $3. I don't understand why they can't see that they are paying $7.16 per DVD - period. Maybe they don't want to?

And that's $7.16 MAXIMUM per DVD. I averaged $5.17 on my last membership.

I used to also hit CH once in a while (maybe 1 out of 6 or 7 times) for the titles BMG didn't carry.

Absolutely Bill. I just fulfilled one with the 6-for-50 w/free shipping.

17.40 + 50 - 5 = 62.50 / 12 = $5.21

How did you save the extra .04 each???

I would guess he did all 3 fulfillments with the 3 for $25, because that's the number I get.

DANG!!! And math was probably the only thing I was ever really good at......

OK, here goes again:

17.40 + 50 - 5 = 62.40 / 12 = 5.20 per DVD

Going the other route:

2.45 + 75 - 5 = 72.45 / 14 = 5.18 per

Now I see. If I had skipped the first bonus upon enrollment I would have saved $$$......(or $$$ x .01)

But would you rather have one more $19.95 - $29.95 enrollment selection, or three more $14.95 DVDs?

I'm assuming you're thinking the $19.95-29.95 title is the better choice, but I could be misreading your intentions. But most of the $14.95s were probably $19.95 at some point and many of the $19.95s will eventually be $14.95. I might not have taken the 6th title during enrollment if you could have guaranteed me that the 3 for $25 and free shipping would be in effect on my account. In any case, I don't think it's a cut and dry proposition.

I am just saying that many people have trouble finding $14.95 title they want which they don't already have. I can pick out maybe 2-3 dozen titles I would want, while there are a couple hundred enrollments I would want, with new ones coming all the time.

I guess I'm not caught up as much on the $14.95 titles as many of you. I can find many DVDs among the 2258 $14.95 titles that I'd be interested in. But I can see if you got the ones you wanted when they were $19.95 or have a huge collection it would be different.

I wouldn't say it is "standard", but they have had it two different times in the past three months, and the free shipping has come and gone periodically. However, the first time the selection was severely limited - this time it is all $14.95 and some $19.95 ones.

Yeah, especially if you like Bond movies. A lot of cool $19.95 titles participate in this deal.

abintra - It sounds like everyone's account currently has both offers. The question is for how long. I held off on many $14.95 titles after the similar deal in the Spring (4 for 29.95 plus free shipping). Having just cycled my third fulfillment under the current deal, I've now knocked 18 titles off of my 14.95 wish list. Fortunately, there are a LOT of 14.95 titles of interest to me.

We've been focused on the 5.18/5.20 per DVD, but there are other ways to consider this deal. For instance, if we accept that 7.16 is the standard price/value of the enrollment-eligible titles, than the current deal could be looked at this way:

17.40 + 50 - 5 = 62.40 for 6 titles worth 7.16 plus 6 more of the 14.95 titles.

62.40 - (7.16 * 6) = 19.44

19.44 / 6 = $3.24 as the actual price we're paying for 14.95 titles. That's the same price it costs me to rent a title (w/tax) at Block Buster.

Looks like CH is fiddling with their checkout system... everything looks different (and some web developer forgot to take off a link near the top that says "test").

So I'm trying to checkout with 6 of the 3 for $25 titles to fulfill my two commitments on an account, but whereas a couple days ago each title read as "Counts towards commitment (0.33 units)," only the top two titles are showing that. So if I order this now, I still have to buy 1.33 DVD's from them?

Anyone have success fulfilling an account with these titles in the last couple days? I'd hate for their checkout system to screw me out of these not fulfilling an account.

If you do have such a problem, I am 99% sure that a call to customer service will take care of it.

Yep, same problem here. I was about to place an order for the 3 for 25 but it was coming up as .33 units, .34 units, and the other didn't count towards anything. They were the correct price of 8.33 each though.

I have 6 DVDs in my cart and the top 2 states that it counts as .34 toward fulfillment. There is nothing mentioned for the remaining 4 DVDs. I'm going to place the order because I feel that it will count as 2 fulfillment titles. If it doesn't, I'll refuse the package and send it back to CH for a refund.

Geez guys - don't refuse shipment, call customer service, they usually bend over backwards to make things right. If it makes you feel better, call them before the package comes and get it straightened out.

That has not been my experience.

Then you're one of the few, because I have personally had three problems with orders this year which were quickly and easily resolved through customer service, and have read numerous posts by other members with similar experiences. As long as the problem is valid - as in a website screw-up - there should be no problem at all. (It helps to get an American CSR for easier communication).

Maybe that is my problem. One time the website screwed up and didn't give me the $5 discount even though it showed on my order before I placed it. I called CH. Lady had a foreign accent and was very rude. Told me that I couldn't get the discount and offered absurd reasoning. I tried to be polite and explain it plainly, but it was useless. However, one other time I was able to get an issue resolved through email. I guess it's luck of the draw when it comes to CH customer service. I wouldn't refuse a package before calling though.

I made sure I had a printout of that screen before hitting "process order". Strange..........(but normal for CH)
I bumped this (from earlier in this thread) for the benefit of others who are now experiencing strange commitment behaviour. This was happening several weeks ago as well; so hopefully it is a reflection of website problems and not indicative of policy change.

Would somebody (CloudVader, Shimmer35, Sweet Baby James) post as to whether you were successfully fulfilling with your order? Please. Thanks.
