In addition to the ones already listed on the web pages, I found I could add any ONE of the following and get it to work with the 3/$25:

o Mildred Pierce
o Animal House
o The Shop Around The Corner

There are probably others. Please post 'em if anyone finds more

$17.40 [5 DVDs] + $45.00 with $5 Discount [6 (3 for $25)DVDs fulfilling 2 DVD commitment] = $62.40/ 11 DVDs = $5.67 Average. Not Bad!

Used 801364 for free shipping.

devynal - 17.40 is the enrollment price for six (not five). You may have done even better than you thought...

I was able to get 6 titles with this deal that counted as 2 commitments, thus fulfilling my account. I picked up:

Runaway Jury ($19.95)
Ocean's Eleven ($14.95)
Thirteen Days ($14.95)
The Manchurian Candidate ($14.95)
K-19: The Widowmaker ($14.95)
The Pianist ($14.95)

I was able to use the free shipping code and the $5 web discount, so my average on this account is $5.20/DVD + tax. Other than a couple of CYCD accounts, that is my lowest average by far.

Thanks for the info about the 3 for $25 counting as a fulfillment and also for the FS code.

Hmmm - the code seems to be expired, it's not being recognized.

I just called in a CSR and told her that the 3 for 25 sale wasnt working with shipping for some reason.

She called the Web department, and then said that she would give me free shipping.

I could not get the web discount, but I ordered 12 movies (had to fulfill a TV club) , so that saved $15 in shipping! Better than just $5 off.

try calling a CSR.

Dunno if anyone noticed, but you can use $14.95 adult titles to get the 3 for $25 and it counts for fulfillment

I've been thinking about placing an order for the last few days, but suddenly I got free shipping today, so I quickly submitted it. There was no promotion listed anywhere, but when I started the checkout process, shipping was free. YIPPEE!!! I selected only 19.95 titles that were part of the 3/25 sale (although the mature titles were tempting). Here is my order:
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days 2859809 $3.33

Willard 2973006 $8.34

Dr. Seuss' The Cat In The Hat 3088200 $8.33

Mona Lisa Smile 3131703 $8.34

S.W.A.T. 3056207 $8.33

Bruce Almighty 2971802 $8.33

Subtotal $45.00

Shipping & Processing Free

Tax Free

Total $45.00

Jim, I was wondering if your order went through?

Mine finally updated on the web, it says it went through like I mailed my order in, and it shows a $77 charge instead of $45.

My balance showed $33.88 instead of the initial $45. Just called and the CSR said $33.88 for the entire order - had to pay it to release the rest of my order I guess. But I'll take the $33.88 over the $45 initially.

Yes, my order went through fine. It shows up on the website correctly and checking my CC charges online it is correct.

I can't believe how low the average price per DVD is getting. 2.5 years ago we were all ecstatic with averages a little over $9. Now we're able to get them for $4 less if you work it right.

My last membership (just fulfilled) was $5.18 per selection (14 @ $72.45). Not a bad return for one 5 minute phone call and 15 minutes on their web site.

Oh, this is the account that I won the free DVD on, so actually in the end it will be $4.83 per selection. And these were no slouch DVDs either, they included 2-disc SEs and a Super Bit, three Best Picture winners, among others.

But don't tell people on the bargains thread, they're tired of hearing about that blah blah blah Columbia house.

Tell me about it - everyone was wetting themselves when BB had Underworld Extended SE for $14.99, I got it as an enrollment at an average price of $5.20. Or they ran around to five different retailers to price match Target's Glory SE misprint for $9.99 which is available as an enrollment selection.

But dontcha know they only sell overpriced crap at CH?

Just be patient with the people on the Bargains page. Yes, there are a few idiots who will jump on you when you mention Columbia House, but keep in mind that there are others who will see your post and venture over here to check out CH for the first time.

How many of us came here, took the plunge and tried out CH, and felt like kicking ourselves for not doing it sooner, instead of buying those high-priced "bargains" elsewhere?

So, when DVDs are mentioned in the Bargains forum that interest you, and are much cheaper at Columbia House, do mention that you got it for $7, or whatever, from CH. Don't respond to the idiots who will slam your post. If they want to believe their misinformation, let them. It is their loss.

To use the cliché: "You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink".

What saved me when I first got into DVDs a few years ago was that I am old enough to remember the early expensive days of CDs, and the incredible amount of money I saved by doing the join-fulfill-cancel-rejoin polka with BMG. When I started getting DVDs, first I found DDD, then I thought of BMG when I realized even the best on-line bargains were going to cost quite a bit more than I wanted to pay for what I wanted to get. Well, no luck there, but their chief rival CD-wise was CH. CH wasn't that great a deal compared to BMG on the CD front, but it's a no-brainer when it comes to cheap DVDs.

Sometimes I am stunned at the poor thought process that goes into people's decisions not to use CH. As was said, these are the same people who will drive to 10 B&M stores every week to check the price of every new release to save $1 or $2. Well, I God bless them just the same, since I do hear about the good deals on non CH selections.

Bringing back memories - CH wasn't as good a deal as BMG. but their selection was MUCH better. I used CH to get the CDs not available from BMG - same as I use BBV to get the DVDs I can't get from CH.
