Went to a store I'd never been to before, they had a couple stacks of DVDs in a basket with bags of popcorn. A whole bunch of copies of 1408 (fullscreen) and The Great Debators, 1 Johnny Cash and a couple other titles that they had maybe 3-4 copies each of that I can't remember. I'd be pumped to find any of the Dragon Dynasty titles for $1.

Went into the local D and at first didn't find any of these, then at the end of an aisle I saw them on an end cap.

Snagged How to Rob a Bank, Ned & Stacy: Season 1 and Party of Five: Season 1

I said I had read on the web about all this great dvds folks were finding and he said those stores(and some regional/district managers care more than others) had gotten in trouble because they aren't supposed to be on sale til Friday. Seems like an odd day, but he said they are the deal of the week, and you should have the deal of the week that has been advertised....so your local store may not suck...they were just doing the right thing. Of course, someone can still come in at 9:01(or whenever they open) and clean them out! ;)

Nothing at the recently re-opened Greenfield, MA store. Will check again Friday. The "Deal of the Week" was a hardcover book.

I also saw two different dvds of some anime show from CN but I forgot the name of the series...

Nice find on the widescreen version of 1408 since I must have looked through over 50 copies of that title and all were foolscreen...

There was also some type of innercity "Caesar" dvd I passed on {forgot the title}...

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Found about half of the titles in that list today. No Ned & Stacey, but I did score the only copy of Party of Five, and Beautiful People. Some of the titles there had UPC slashes, but nothing I bought did... I actually debated long and hard over buying some of the titles. After I got home I was like "DUH, it's only $1 each! I should have just bought them!"

Manzana 04-19-12 09:34 AM

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I stopped by the only Dollar Tree near me yesterday. I assume all of these DVDs listed are normal sized DVD cases and not slim ones? I only looked through the normal sized ones of which they had maybe 6... 3 of which were Far Cry. I really only wanted Party of Five and Great Debaters, and I found 1 Party of Five dropped behind the wire rack at the back which is the only reason it was still there. Other than that my store had pretty much diddly squat of the normal sized DVD cases.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Looks like the earlier report was correct in that some stores simply hadn't gotten them or put them out. Stopped by this morning, and it appeared a brand new display at been set up front and center as I entered the store.

Picked up:

Beautiful People: Complete Series
The Contractor
Dead Broke
The Great Debaters (2-Disc) - UPC slash on each of the 2-discers I found. I don't think the single disc versions have the slash.
The Johnny Cash Biography
Ned and Stacey: Season 1
Party of Five: Season 1
Roxy Hunter and the Mystery of the Moody Ghost Movie (includes DVD, Secret Diary and Roxy Rocks! - I have a daughter, which I made sure to point out as I was checking out. )
Spooky House
The Stone Angel

I picked up an extra copy of Beautiful People, Ned & Stacey and Party of Five since I figured those would be the most desired by folks here (still leaving at least a copy of each behind). I know this thread isn't necessarily the place to offer these, but if anyone has an interest in trading for them, PM me a list/offer. I also don't mind selling them at cost, plus shipping, etc. but I'd be more interested in trading (though there's probably no other Dollar Tree titles I'm interested in at the moment). Thanks.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I got Ned & Stacey and Beautiful People for $3 each from Big Lots around BF. I don't know if they are still around at those prices at BL because I so rarely go and look at their same-old same-old DVD section. At only $2 more than Dollar Tree it's not too bad if you can find them. Of course I'll guess these are probably difficult to find anywhere. Dollar Tree is scarce in my area so I have nowhere else to look for The Great Debaters. Oh well. I'll survive without it.

Running with Scissors

Sure enough, they had a display at the entrance today. I picked up:

Beautiful People (2 copies - 1 for Amazon)
Running With Scissors
Finishing the Game
How to Rob a Bank
Rent Control (FF, but I'm a sucker for Sabrina The Teenage Witch)

The girl at the register said she got a copy of Party of Five. There was no PoF left, and no Ned & Stacey. I have a horrible memory, but there were some that weren't in this thread, including RFK, and a Barack Obama dvd.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I went at opening this morning, and scored Ned & Stacey, and the 2-disc Great Debaters. With these, and the few I found the other day, I think I'm set. They were still setting up the display. 2 cases were out, and 4 more were being put out. I waited until all 6 cases were out, to make sure I didn't miss out on anything.

I found 2 not on your list. Net 2.0 and Truth and Consequences

I regret getting Sweet and Lowdown. This is one that has been changed by Sony to Full Screen. The earlier release had wide.

Nothing new to add to the list; however, I found mine in a buggy right inside the doors. I don't know how many they had started with, but they looked to be pretty picked over by the time I got there around lunch today (Saturday). Still, I ended up with Metropolis, Ned and Stacey: The Complete First Season, and Beautiful People: The Complete Series. I'm pretty happy.

well, I'm SOOOO happy it worked out well for everyone....but me! ;) Went to the Lovejoy GA store at 4 pm yesterday, they had about 20 dvds left, half being 1408. I asked if the wire rack was full earlier in the day, she said it had been, and they weren't put out til noon. Someone must have grabbed 40-50 at once. Then went to the store in Griffin GA later and they had even fewer, and I bet they had put them out earlier in the week, since the area for them was so small....oh well...

RFK
Scary Movie 4 Unrated - Widescreen
Young Cesar

Still can't find these 3 dvds and they all received high ratings at Amazon...

Butcher, The
Pandemic
Soul Assassin

I hit every Dollar Tree I knew of in north Jersey last week looking for Party Of Five.
Not a one to be had.
As some have pointed out - it may not necessarily be that the stores didn't get them, but that they may just have been wiped out before I got there.

If there's a flea market near by, you should forget about finding them. Some jerk came in and bought them up at mine and selling them at flea market anywhere between $3 - $10 each.

I stopped at a DT late last week and got 7 items, including Alex Rider, Beautiful People, Kaena, Metropolis, Truth or Consequences N.M., Punch Drunk Love, & Little Secrets. My regular DT (which I dissed above) ultimately got one measly little box (even the clerk was surprised to get so few) with one item I bought , Running with Scissors. Just like Big Lots, DT is a total crapshoot.

This morning I dropped by the Pittsfield MA DT, and they still had 2 rows of dvds. I found a copy of Flakes (Zooey Deschanel), which I was looking for, but most of what they had were copies of 1408 full screen. I wonder if those will sell.

They have Flakes?!?!?!?!?! I hadn't noticed that in Chard's list before. Oh man, I totally must find that DVD!!! Didn't notice that amongst the many titles I've looked through. I watched it on Netflix a while back. Does it have any extras?

I haven't watched it yet, but the back cover says it has deleted scenes and a trailer. It's a widescreen version and is not rated. Also, some guy says that "Zooey Deschanel can do no wrong!"

I do like the movie, but it isn't good just because of her. The other zany characters make it enjoyable. Plus, the subject matter of cereal connoisseurs is very amusing. I wonder if people like that really exist. I'm sure they do, but maybe to a lesser extent...

I don't know if I'm a cereal connoisseur, but I'm really into cereal. Seriously. That was one of the things that drew me to the movie.

I went to the Midwest City, OK store last night and there was nary a DVD in sight. Actually, there were 4 or 5 of the thin-packed public domain titles in a bin in the electronics section, but those have been there since the store opened.

DouglasRobert 04-25-12 01:05 PM

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

At mine these are basically all gone now. No display at the front of the store anymore.
Just a few titles put back in the DVD bin in the regular spot.

One thing is for sure these went very quickly.

Stopped in at the Greenfield MA store again today, and there were zero DVDs. I even asked. I'm guessing that someone came in and bought all 30 copies of 1408 (FS).

DVDs never last long at Dollar Tree, whenever they get them in. Too many resellers and plain DVD collectors will buy up every single title at $1 each.

I went to 4 stores yesterday, along my long drive home from work. 2 had NO DVD's left whatsoever, and 2 had scraps. No Flakes. I'm hitting one last store today during my lunch hour, basically in the ghetto. I figure if any store might have it still, that would be the one. But if they don't, I'll certainly PM you later today! Thanks...

(and no, I won't really be wasting gas driving there--I'll be in the area anyway)

Some of the titles showing up in this current batch are, in fact, remnants from the last batch of dvds that DT had put out...

Alex Rider: Operation Stormbreaker, Great Debaters, The - 2 disc set & 1 disc, Punch Drunk Love, Running with Scissors, Scary Movie 4, Starship Troopers 2, The Man Who Loved Women, USS Poseidon: Phantom Below were a few I remember but there might have been others...
