My local Dollar Tree store didn't have any DVDs except for the public domain ones they've always had, which they moved to the electronics aisle of the store. There were unopened boxes all over the place so it's possible they may have them just not displayed yet. :)

That Goodwill truck may have been picking up fixtures. And it may not have necessarily been a donation. Somehow,I could never imagine "Hollywood Video" and "donation " in the same sentence. Goodwill may have purchased them. And if DT is selling PV DVDs from HV,how cheap do you think they got them for in auction? I'll guess a nickel or less apiece.

Still no luck at the few local stores I've hit. Which is annoying since there are actually a few titles that have been listed that I'd like to have.

wow... I was amazed there was anything left to sell off to dollar trees... I think I did pretty well getting so many really good dvds for only .50 when the store closed...

That said, Ive only checked a couple $ Tree stores and they have none of these dvds...

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Only one of DT stores near me had these previously viewed DVDs, no luck at the other two. :(

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I've been to about 5 Dollar Trees in my area (central PA, Lebanon and Lancaster) and 2 of the 5 had old Movie Gallery DVDs. Picked up 4 at one and another 5 at another. Most of the titles had multiples of each, not a wide selection. picked up:
The Paper Chase
2010
20 Years After
The Weight of Water

at the first one, the five at the second one were nowhere near as memorable, guilty b movies pleasure. But, I picked up about 8 packs of the 40 double sided dvd sleeves that some of them sell. Hard to find

Visited one of my outlying DTs and found a smattering of Hollywood Video used items. Bought Three Days of Rain, The Trojan Horse, Speed & Angels, and Atlantic Records: The House that Ahmet Built (new). Other good items that I already had--Ike and 2010. Will have to check out some other locations.

There are about 5 Dollar Trees where we live (Southern Oregon) and ALL of them seem to have the same titles which happen to be documentaries (can't remember the titles but one had baby dolls on the cover and another one was about some surfing family) and something like a cartoon called "Paprika". They literally had dozens and dozens. Hopefully actual movies will show up.

Was the baby-doll cover one "Bubble"? That was an interesting independent film from Steven Soderbergh using all unknowns and a lot of non-actors. I remember it was released simultaneously on DVD, in theaters and on pay-per-view and might have been the first such movie to do that.

I'll buy that for a dollar!

Yes! It looked like a documentary to me.

Last night went to a different location and found (and bought):

Mammoth - Creature feature made for the Sci-Fi channel.
Carriers - already watched it and it bored me.
Party Girl

ALL discs in great condition though.

Found "Maxed Out", a documentary on America's credit card culture the other day at DT. I actually picked it up since I remembered reading a review of it here on DVDTalk awhile ago.

It was the only thing that stood out in the oddball selection of foreign films, documentaries, and made-for-TV biopics.

Saw quite a few Echo Bridge DVDs family stuff with Dove approval. Grabbed a Christmas film with Jason Alexander that also had a cd. Several of these were 2 films, not bad for a buck! Took pics with my new phone, but they are not there, so sadly can't say what other titles were there....

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Actually I was surprised this morning, walked over to the dvd area and they actually had some new dvds in stock.

Most were from Echo Bridge and were your disaster flare kind of movies.

I picked up 4 of them.
Disaster Zone: Volcano in New York
Dream a Little Dream 2
Michael Jackson: Life of a Superstar
Crash Landing/ 10.5 Apocalypse (Double Feature) <Contains 2 discs, both with artwork>

Also to clarify about those Digiview type DVDs, they are from a company called Broadpoint.

While very common on pd labels, the Veil is a fun series & is actually worth watching! Though if it's on Platinum it's likely to have that annoying on screen logo.

There was a sign out front advertising these at the one in town. Small, selection, maybe already pretty picked over.

Saw:
Great Debaters
Lies & Alibis
1408 (Fullscreen)

Picked up the lone copy of The Hammer to replace the Blockbuster rental copy I had.

There were about 6 movies on the poster, all Weinstein, I remember Scray Movie 4 and the aforementioned 1408.

Picked up Scary Movie 4. Hated it the only time I saw it but figure I might as well grab it for a dollar to have all four films. Plus I can remind myself for how bad it was for less than a rental.
