Wow! I have the complete box on blu, but for $1.00 that's pretty amazing!

Came across a huge stash of new DVD/BD boxes on an end cap. I'd say it was 85% DVD or more. It's rumored a media end cap with several shelves will become a permanent fixture at some locations.

This one location had a new mix of anime, horror and sci-fi titles. Most discs from indie labels though a few bigger labels were sprinkled into the selections. For my tastes, a better wave than what we got over Christmas and January.

Most of the VUDU digital codes still work, no matter how old. I picked up Journey Into The West, a Stephen Chow flick, on DVD and the included code redeemed in SD quality on VUDU.

Stopped by another random store today and discovered a peculiar find. The complete series of Lexx - It's the Echo Bridge version in a slim case (found here: Lexx: The Complete Series (DVD) - Walmart.com). I expect the quality to be subpar. Despite that and having never seen the show, I couldn't pass up that much content for $1.25.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

There were many Echo Bridge discs in the newest wave. Walmart went hard carrying Echo Bridge DVDs and especially BDs in 2020 and 2021. I don't think they sold well at all, which means tons of leftover stock for Dollar Tree to scoop up.

I live in a high Crime area. It is drastically escalating. It is currently not safe to go to DT or Big Lots (across the street from each other). This is getting ridiculous. And i thought Covid was bad enough.

How is this? I saw several copies at the store I popped into this AM, but didn't pick it up. I did end up with 3 movies for the first time in forever, though :

"Mother" ( Bong Joon Ho movie )
"Voodoo Apocalypse" ( looked like a good time - worth a buck & a quarter for the title alone )
"Visioneers" ( Zach Galifianakis movie )

No idea, lol. I haven't watched more than 10% of the movies I get from Dollar Tree. They all end up in my perpetual backlog which extends back to the 2000s decade. I did chew through some when the whole Western world got shut down for Covid. Those lock-downs really did help me tackle more of my collection.

Ha ha...I figured there was a good chance the answer would be something like this, but I took a shot anyway. I'll probably just grab the movie if I see it next time I'm in there.

About a year ago, I found several really good blind buys at DT (much of which were PBS series I'd never heard of). It's been slim pickings as far as quality goes since, but between Covid & Crime in the area, I don't go in as much as I used to.

Satanic Panic
The Nightshifter
Don Jon
Coven
Toxic Crusaders Vol 1 (So surprised to find a Troma disc there!)
Zelig
Night/Living Dead-19 Movie Set (Mostly bought it for Lady Frankenstein)
Shirley Temple Family Collection Vol 1
Super Pack Madness (Little Red Devil, They Must Eat, Evil Offspring, Biker Zombies From Detroit, Lurking Terror)

I already had all the Woody Allen DVD's. I bought 1 of each a couple months ago anyway, just in case I was missing any, but I wasn't. They are reissues with new packaging.

Not much new at my local Tree, but they did get in some of those Shudder movies. I was able to snag "One Cut Of The Dead", which I'd been on the lookout for.

I have spotted some interesting-looking horror movies in recent waves. Newer ones from SHUDDER and the like.

I popped in on a Chex Mix run this morning ( no luck - feh ) & ended up picking up 3 DVD's :

"The Partridge Family" Season 2 ( for my wife )
"The Larry Sanders Show" Seasons 1 & 2
"Mr. Show" Season 4

I already own the last 2, but grabbed 'em anyway to give to friends.

Seens some stuff out this week. Picked up season 5 of Royal Pains (previously I had bought season 7). Still haven't seen an episode yet, hopefully it's worth a look.

I got an Audrey Hepburn Mill Creek bio pic at DT a few months ago. Watched it 2 nights ago, & discovered it's oop & sells for high prices. Wish I would have bought more than 1!

Two Dollar Tree is coming sooner rather than later.

The DVD Bargains forum is looking pretty barren these days. I kind of wish the mods would merge it with the Blu-ray Bargains.

Do you mean "once all the physical retailers either went under or got rid of 90% of their stock......"

I think all we've got left here (South of Seattle) is a little in Best Buy, a little in Target, less in B&N & Wallymart.

I dread having to pack up my collection and move it.

I had to do that 6 years ago. What a night mare. I ended up basically giving away 1/2 of my books & got $1 each for all my vinyl. I'm still mostly disc on film, though adding some files. I've pretty much switched over to files for high resolution music where possible, though I still have thousands of discs.

+ computers, & all the stuff we all have to move.

If you're going there you have my empathy. It totally sucked.

I have a mix of media like dvd /bluray any in bins or bags and cassette or cd in a tape case taped closed lol. so for the most part any stuff gotta pack be easy to do so since know where came from and easy stack and store any. just stack all and use doly to truck or pod and ill make sure stuff stay level so weight not all to one side so to speak so easier to move around corners and such lol. so much read about moving just declutter and repeat till only stuff u want most lol.

I hit mine yesterday. A smallish selection from the last 2 batches. Lots of Woody Allen left. I bought 11/9 on DVD & that was it. Has anyone else thought that jumping from $1 to $1.25 is 25% inflation?????

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I think they said they did the increase and it was before the inflation gathered steam because they wanted to stock the stores with a better quality of merchandise.

Lots of rumors they originally wanted everything priced at $1.50. Now that they've broken the magical dollar barrier, I have no doubt we'll see $1.50-$1.99 pricing at Dollar Tree before 2024.

I bought the first DVD there in forever today. Found a copy of "Superman : The Movie". My store hasn't had anything new in forever.

Came across the second and final season of From Dusk Till Dawn on DVD. Also some of the DVDs and BDs this go-around are ringing up for $1 instead of the new pricing.

I came across Matchstick Men today...in a Snapper case. Wow, must have been one of the very last ones made by Warner.

Stopped in a store today and simply glanced at a small number of titles near the entrance. Blind bought a BBC TV show, The Honorable Woman with Maggie Gyllenhaal. I hope I live to be 115 so I can get to all these blind buys. ;) Of course that only happens if I stop buying them as well.

Finally went to dt and walkin into place trigger media thinking by chance lol and so looked and saw a metal rack and boxes and scored like 3 if any. have not got for so long cause med reasons but by chance chekd and as said metal reack and like 4 or 5 box to checkd and almost got alot but remember 1.25 now so less grabs even if still cheap. said alot in blu ray area but here just the basics i guess. maybe go back but gotta move so idk till it happens anytime. and was also a metal display in front with some stacks so guess got alot boxes and not alot space in tech area so had to put stacks in front by chance. alot b or less movies but scored 3 so not bad compared to past trips and all. went to 99 cent store close by and had none so guess didnt get any or all sold by chance. or was moved to different area but didnt ask but good went to dt cause had plenty.lol..

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

My shabby DT store has basically had the same MGM type movies all year long. A few new items have filtered in lately, but nothing worth buying. I've picked up 2 or 3 DVDs all year long, and no blu rays. I've seen nothing of the blu rays described elsewhere. If I happen by a DT somewhere else, and have the time, I'll stop. But none of them have been much good either. It's gotten to be a waste of time, really.
