Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Finally found a Dollar Tree with a solid selection. I scored a lot of titles I was interested in months ago but hadn't found anymore until this evening.

The particular store I went to had about 6-7 boxes of stuff.

Picked up:

Asher (2018)
Beyond The Gates (2016)
The Boy (2015)
The Head Hunter (2018)
I'll Take Your Dead (2018)
Jack Goes Home (2016)
Mermaid: Lake of the Dead (2018)

I have yet to find "Beyond The Gates" it's become the new "Inherent Vice" for me.

It was the one title I wanted the most and this was my first time seeing it at a Dollar Tree B&M. This location had two but the other copy was beat to hell.

I've been wanting this title ever since I saw the San Francisco Premiere of the film at a Film Festival back in late-2016.

Barbara Crampton was in attendance and did a Q&A (as well as signing after) which was awesome!

Yea, i go with like open sight to what is possible at time. i see what is shown on youtube and hope i get certain ones but then i go and see those if any and any other gold so to speak at time. i dont expect to get certain titles but i snag any of interest any by chance multipacks if can get at time. so like a lot movies for a buck not bad and save as well. now i try wait a month to get more since got so many in room and all. besides go to near by 99 cent store for cheap media and skip other places unless can afford to pay a tad more. but i happy what i can get at time.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Was looking for some generic stuff... it's cheap.

One of the DT in town. I was there earlier when the last wave hit, found a few titles.

Searched their DVDs and found a couple of new titles that wasn't there the last time. Cool.

"Days That Shook The World: The Complete Second Season" and "Beng Human: Season Three" both are BBC releases. Wish I could find the other seasons of "Being Human".

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I think to find shows at dt is by chance cause guess they sell faster for collect or resell anytime later. i have scored shows i wanna check out but i dont snag them often. just got snag a copy when u see any later.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Did find a few things worth picking up today:

On DVD, I bought:

Class: Season 1 (BBC)
Lego DC Comics Double Feature: Justice League - Cosmic Clash/Gotham City Breakout
Tom and Jerry's Giant Adventures (not so much interested in the movie, but the back of the case says it has 2 bonus discs)
Walerian Borowczyk Short Film Collection

On BD:

Going in Style
Good Ol' Freda
The Host

Also spotted, but passed on:

10 x 10
Lea (American Girl)
The Lost City of Z
Some Doctor Who discs
Wild Horses

Not much of a selection this go-around. That was to be expected since there was no way to measure up to the massive amount of stuff that showed up last time. What little stores are receiving is small in quantity and mostly DVDs this time.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Hvae not been to dt close to me since got so many and some seen for any reason and others stil sealed for any reason. not sure when go back cause budget and broke right now so maybe i have chance to go later and find any worthy media to get at time cause missed this last wave if we got any and most time i go check but limited cause a surgery so have to wait till can walk better and all.

Indeed. The new boxes have a display date of 1/22/21, and they're brown. The Black Friday drop came in white boxes. From what I've seen, the new drop is mostly DVDs, but there are a few Blus mixed in.

I've heard this latest batch is almost all DVDs, btw. A few BDs sprinkled in but primarily DVDs.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Yea, dt get blu rays but they scattered or so many of same movie no one wants or care to try resell any. so most dvd but sometimes some good stuff depend on cast and extra i think. skipped recent wave if any cause budget and all. may try check later when can and got some xtra spend but now med reasons just stay home unless go doc any. and try avoid pandemic by being away from rat race any so not get virus any. but i sure there always be media to get even if u not realy care to get it any lol. seeing how some or many have moved to streaming now. and some or many dont even know dt got media .

JohnIan 02-01-21 03:20 AM

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Took home various titles for their cases.

Bought "Miss Meadows" with slipcase, "Ripper Street: Season Four" and "Barry Munday". It wasn't a big shipment, but was newly put out, so I got the choice of the lot.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Yea, it nice when u see like a new batch or a lot of boxes compared to what u saw before so u can score the gold ahead of anyone and get som good stuff by chance. wish i was able to check , but since med reasons and pandemic i just skip any media hunts for now.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Was curious went to my local store. They got new stock; found it was put on display last week. I'm late, many of the titles were gone.

I did however take home...

"Hammer Head" BBC doc with slip. "Galveston" with slip. "Into The Ashes" with slip. "Car Dogs", "Seven Seas Pirates", "Josie", "The Bird Men"", "The One I Love", "Jim Brown: All American" and "Lying And Stealing".

As well as two copies of "Welcome To Sweden: Season One" just for cases; two disc set. I'm glad I didn't buy "Lying And Stealing" when it first came out. Was tempted - now have it for a buck.

Still no "Beyond The Gates"... but that could've been there, but I was too late.

cabler30 03-05-21 07:49 PM

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Yea, i guess since some or many know of dt media sale now cause youtube or other ways i think some or many are hittng any dt for any media to score any gold anytime.some store post a poster on window or swtup in front and rest just stock in tech area anytime. so as news gets around and pandemic still going some or many have hit dt anytime and score the gold anytime. so when i go i dont know what is possible, i just go and hope score any i may really want at time.

Went to another store.

Found "Wordplay" documentary, limited edition; "Alien Invasion", "Last Ones Out", "Beyond The Sky", "Outcasts" and "Frankenstein Vs. The Mummy" - that screams quality.

Right - right?

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Posted over on the BD side, but DVD fans will want to keep an eye on their local stores. Of the 2 stores with large displays, the majority were DVDs with some interesting stuff. My post is below:

I had to make a mini-road trip for other reasons today. Stopped by 5 stores as I went along. 2 had massive amounts of new stuff--one on the front table, another a separate shelf in the store. Incidentally, 2 stores had their front table (and signage) indicating the item of the week was books.

Here's what I picked up today:

BDs
World Series 2018 (Red Sox)
World Series 2019 (Nationals)
The Attack
Bel Canto
Dead Lands
Flatliners (original)
John Dies at the End
Red vs. Blue: Season 11
Romeo & Juliet (Steinfield/Booth)
Secret of NIMH
Survival of the Dead
Unlikely Heroes
Winnie
Zen of Bennett

DVDs
Bates Motel: Season 2 (own it from a previous DT haul, I think)
Batman Triple Feature (Batman & Mr. Freeze: Subzero / Batman vs. Dracula / Batman Superman Movie)
Batman & Scooby Doo Double Feature
David Spade: Take the Hit
Days that Shook the World: Season 2 (BBC)
Fenway Park: 100 Years at the Heart of Red Sox Nation
Galveston
Greatest NFL Rivalries: Bears Defeat Packers (3 complete games)
Hey Dude: Season 1
Roller Derby Chronicles (a 3-disc set with some kind of decorative piece strapped to it)
The Rolling Stones - Live in Texas '78: Some Girls (DVD/CD)

I'm happy with all the unique finds. And i probably saw another 2-3 dozen different BDs, maybe more, that I either owned from previous waves or the reviews led me to leaving those for others. https://forum.dvdtalk.com/images/smilies/smile.gif

Hope you like the Stones Concert more than I did. I bought it from Hamilton & put it up for sale as soon as I played part of it. I honestly don't remember if it sold!

I won't get my hopes up. It's not the type of thing I'd go out of my way to buy or spend much on, but for just a buck... I'm sure we've all used those words at Dollar Tree in the past.

Went on a mission today to try to score High Rise and Bates Motel.
So ¼ tank of gas and 5 Dollar Trees later I never did spot either. However...
I ended up finding some Tom Holland movie I'd never even heard of called Pilgrimage. At least it wasn't a total loss. -biggrin-
