Crap.
This happened last week. Minus eight titles the rest are all gone.
Took home "South Riding" (mint). The first time I've seen a BBC title on sale there.
I'll be honest, I'm upset. I depend on those sale to buy good DVD cases for storage as I need them and I'm currently out.
Hopefully I'll catch the next sale.

I was surprised by the BBC too. I saw South Riding today and picked that up as well. So far, I found Sense and Sensibility (as stated earlier), and I've seen others mention Old Curiosity Shop and Oliver Twist. So a small group, but perhaps more next time.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
I had a long delay getting out this morning, but not to worry, the first DT I checked said that they had been told to make a Super Bowl Item of the Week display and that the movies wouldn't go out until Tuesday at the earliest (of course I had to wait in line for 15 minutes with the cashier then giving me the standard "Check Aisle 8" and then go down every aisle before hearing a noise in the stockroom and getting the attention of another employee back there to find that out. So about 30 minutes for that. Good times).
I feared a similar outcome when I went to the next DT and saw a similar display, but this one had at least 4 employees and when I asked the first one told me to hold on, while he brought the unopened cartons from the back. There were 9, each one holding 30 items (except for the one with the Nature Documentary 2-pack from Tropics that I'd already bought).
Seven of the containers contained no Blu's, the 8th had seven copies of Assassin's Bullet which I'd already bought, and the 9th had five more of those, plus three copies of Allegiance and one of Without Men.
Most of the DVD's I'd already seen, but at least I knew I hadn't missed anything. It was interesting to note how some of the good ones, like the Daily Show 2004 set, were only 1 per case when they were there at all. Anyway, here's the DVD's that I hadn't seen before at the store that I had so much luck at on Tuesday:
3 Movie Triple Feature: Money For Nothing/Disorganized Crime/Another Stakeout
All I Want
Angels Crest
Blue Smoke
Elegy
Fire w/Gary Dourdan
Full Disclosure
Henry Poole is Here
South Riding BBC
Stella Days w/Martin Sheen

Hit the local $ Tree today. The shelf was about 1/2 empty. I bought nothing. The only title I found of any note was a Jon Stewart 2004 USA election box set for $1.00. There were 2 blu-rays I'd never hea5rd of; & of course no Runaways blu's.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
I picked up 3 more DVDs yesterday:
Come Early Morning
Elegy
Personal Effects
I found it interesting that two of the movies I picked up during this sale were writing/directorial debuts for actresses (Joey Lauren Adams' Come Early Morning and Famke Janssen's Bringing Up Bobby).

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
Stopped into my closest DT today and they had the display, but it was already mostly picked over. Just great! If they had put this up on time, that wouldn't have been an issue.
Very few Blu-rays, most of which were from previous sales, but I did get one new Blu:
- Intruders
I'm not a huge fan of Clive Owen though and I don't particularly care for the premise. Oh well, they did say the director was "visionary," so maybe this is a hidden gem? Yeah right!
Also picked up three DVDs:
- Checking Out (supposedly OOP)
- Hunt for Justice (supposedly OOP)
- The Square (Joel Edgerton has a supporting role in it)
I didn't pick up the OOP DVDs because they were OOP, BTW - they actually look interesting to me. Of course, at $1, it doesn't take much to interest me.
So, yeah, screw this sale!

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
I hit two more and had marginal success:
Blus
- For Greater Glory (no slip like some have reported, but who cares)
- Phantom Punch
- Soul Men
DVDs
- BBC: Sense & Sensibility
- Walking on Water (surfing movie with Bethany Hamilton, who was portrayed in Soul Surfer)
I was hoping to find the last remaining BBC DVD in this deal, Oliver Twist, but no luck. Of the BBCs, South Riding seems to be the most common (both in my experience and what has been posted) and Oliver Twist the rarest (ditto).
At one of the DTs, the lady said she was expecting another truck tonight and maybe more movies would be on it. I tend to doubt that, but you never know, so I'm posting her info here just in case there is indeed something to it.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
I saw these Weds and they had a fair quantity of dvds, by today they had less than half.
I was surprised to see two Sony "classics" in the batch WHERE ANGELS GO TROUBLE FOLLOWS with Rosalind Russell and HAND IN HAND the acclaimed 1960 British film. Both titles I've had for years. Also saw a Lifetime movie, BABY FOR SALE.
There were two copies of SENSE AND SENSIBILITY (already had this via the Jane Austen boxed set) and SOUTH RIDING Weds; hope the other BBC titles show up; SOUTH RIDING was my only purchase.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
Dollar Tree has NOT restocked! I just went to the "good" one that always has a surplus of movies between sales. Of course, they eventually put out the Blus I already found elsewhere (not many), so I should've saved the time and aggravation and just gone there today. Oh well, live and learn.
If you have a Dollar Tree like this, might be worth checking back just in case.
I got:
DVDs
- Restitution
- Tortured
- Super Mario Bros. Super Show!: Mario of the Deep
STILL no trace of BBC: Oliver Twist at any of my DTs, so I'm hoping it shows up aplenty in the next sale.
Books
- Argo: How the CIA & Hollywood Pulled Off the Most Audacious Rescue in History (by Antonio J. Mendez, Matt Baglio)
- Asylum: A Memoir About Hollywood, Mental Illness, Recovery, and Being My Mother's Son (by Joe Pantoliano)
- Marilyn & Me: A Photographer's Memories (by Lawrence Schiller)

^ A bit off topic, but were those books hardcover or paperback?
My Dollar Tree has no blu-rays, never gets any of the DVDs in, but always gets books every so often. I picked up a hardcover of 'Hard Choices' (Hillary Clinton) last Friday, there was only 1 copy on the shelf.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
My pleasure - I'm a huge organization fan.
I'm trying to find space to organize them until I can watch them. I have promised myself I'll eventually get through them all... 5 down, 100-some to go.
If I just stop looking for more!

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
I went to the former Deals, now Dollar Tree, today. Was surprised to see movies (all DVDs), but sure enough, they were there.
Nothing too exciting - a mixture of old DT and Deals stock - but I picked up a few anyway...
- Partition (Walmart sticker?)
- Poker Club (DT stock?)
- Semi-Pro (Deals)
- Whatever it Takes [4:3] (Deals)
All rang up for $1, of course, despite the two Deals movies having $1.50 and $4 stickers, respectively.

Went to another DT and they had several dozen dvds still but the only one that I didn't own that was of interest was CRAZY, a biopic of country music guitarist Hank Garland starring Waylon Payne.
Also bought the hardcover biography of Springsteen, BRUCE by Peter Ames Carlin http://www.amazon.com/Bruce-Peter-Am...ce+springsteen

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
I'm surprised no one has reported any finds here. Is this still the current thread for Dollar Tree?
Based on what has been reported around the web, the only Blu-rays I couldn't find were American Pie (original), Darkman, and Seeking a Friend For the End of the World (but I did see the DVD, which I probably should've gotten). My two closest stores hadn't stocked as of this morning, so there's hope yet.
Still, I feel blessed by this amazing haul.
Blu-rays
- Admission (with slip, which is YMMV)
- American Pie: The Book of Love
- Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome
- Brokeback Mountain
- Changeling
- Charlie St. Cloud
- Dream House
- Duplicity
- Frost/Nixon
- Hit and Run
- Justin and the Knights of Valor
- Killer Elite
- Life Happens
- Love Happens
- Mr. Hockey
- Open Road
- Silent Hill Revelation
- Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy
- Unleashed
- The Ward
DVDs
- 4 Movie Marathon: Cross My Heart / Fierce Creatures / Opportunity Knocks / Splitting Heirs
- 4 Movie Marathon: The Perfect Man / Head over Heels / Wimbledon / The Story of Us
- Angels in Stardust (with slip) [yesterday]
- Being Flynn
- Bowfinger
- The Eclipse
- I Really Hate My Job
- John Doe: Vigilante [yesterday]
- Red Dog
- Scorpion King 3 (Batista)
- Sound of Music Live (with shrinkwrapped slip, which is YMMV)
- The Squeeze [yesterday]
- The Wedding Date
Book
- The Unseen World of Poppy Malone
BTW, outdated "Item of the Week" signage at every location (still advertising solar flares or whatever the hell it was) and a front table at only one location - the rest were on a bottom shelf in Electronics/Automotive.

I found a decent selection of things, that I listed in the other thread. Several titles I would have liked, but these stores are so hit-or-miss when it comes to selection and when they put things out.

Agreed about the YMMV nature of these deals. I'd love American Pie (I've never seen it, believe it or not) and a couple of others, but I really can't complain.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
I was mostly underwhelmed. The things I recall are:
Lots of kids stuff and Billy Blank:
Scorpion King 3
Sound of Music w/Carrie Underwood
United 93
4 Movie Marathon: The Perfect Man / Head over Heels / Wimbledon / The Story of Us
Seeking a Friend For the End of the World
4 Movie Marathon: Cross My Heart / Fierce Creatures / Opportunity Knocks / Splitting Heirs
I bought the last 3.
The 4 Movie Marathons were very rare. One was 1 copy in 1 store out of 4. The other was 3 copies in 1 store out of 4. But they're good pickups, and I did much better with Blu-rays, several of which were combo packs.
