There's nothing on the back of the case? Does your "Making of" extra include the words "Extended Edition" on the back? Mine doesn't. (I obviously haven't opened the case to check if there are two discs, but it didn't feel like there were.)
It looks exactly like this:

That's what mine looks like too, but I opened it and it's one disc. I guess there's no way to tell from the case - go figure.

I know some of you OCD types will now be scouring copies of The Lost City for that 2-disc set with its extended documentary you'll probably never get around to seeing.

Yep! I already own the retail exclusive from last decade, unwatched and buried in storage, but was at Dollar Tree again today anyway, so picked up the "heaviest feeling" Lost City just now. Worse case scenario, I'll actually watch this one and then get a few cents back in taxes after I donate it away.

Congratulations, you've got ME beat there. I'd never buy a 2nd copy of something I had in storage; I'd just wait til I eventually dug it out. And I see this movie was on Blu-Ray, so I won't get the regular DVD even for a buck- or less. Maybe if it's free.

Wish Blu's would show up again.
I remember getting Upside Down, Bad Lieutenant (Cage version), The Proposition (Aussie Western), Bernie (Linklater film) and few other forgettable titles on Blu for $1.

Of the recent DVDs, "Julia" is a really good thriller with Tilda Swinton. I think even Roger Ebert gave it four stars.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Went to one final DT (I hope) on a OCD quest to find the two-disc Lost City, but no sign of it at all - either two disc or one disc (which I got before I knew there was a "better version"). Actually, I was in the area and had a few minutes to kill, so I swung by a DT to see what they had. Feels like I'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel now.

- Ceremony
- Klepto
- Seat Filler, The
- Touchy Feely
- Yonkers Joe (I didn't like this the first time I saw it, but I love Chazz Palminteri and Christine Lahti, and Tom Guiry was good in The Sandlot, so I'll give it another try for a buck - why not, right?)

I mildly regretted my previous DT runs, but this particular set really feels like filler. What was I thinking? Please tell me there's at least one hidden gem in this stack.

BTW, this particular location had movies in the front and another small stack on a bottom shelf in Electronics/Automotive/wherever, so check both places.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

While the back does not indicate which has the two disc version. Just give it a gentle shake.

You'll hear the disc arm inside - which is how I found out about it. I shake every DVD to hear if there's a floater inside.

Well, I collect those retail exclusives, and like having two of each if possible for trading, especially at only a buck.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

My closest DT still doesn't seem to have any of these, but I finally made it to a third location which had maybe 3 dozen total dvd's. Several of the ones that I already had were there, plus I picked up Moonlight Serenade (which had seemed the most interesting to me amongst the other titles). Based on recent comments I also tried to weigh the 6 copies of Lost City there, which usually I'm good at, but the one I picked was just the single disc version.

I think that'll be it for me, I'm not going to take extended trips to Dollar Tree's in order to hunt down more of these titles, or keep gambling to find the other copies of Lost City with the second disc (though I won't deny that a small part of me is tempted to do that).

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Went to my out-of-the-way DT goldmine {they always have a huge selection}, I wanted to find the last of what i needed to finish this shipment, 'Romulus' and 'Special' and 'Malice in Wonderland' which no DT I went to had. Instead I picked these up:

Angels Crest
Adventure Planet
Broken English
Crazy
Julia
Moving McAllister
Steel City

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Well, I had some cvs money that was expiring and I happened to go to one I don't normally visit. On the way out I noticed a new Dollar Tree across the street. They had some of the titles listed. I guess the Flea Market guy doesn't know about this one either. I got
Red (2008 Brian Cox, Tom Sizemore) - not the Bruce Willis movie or the Kieslowski one
Ondine
The War Within
District B13

all blind buys.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I found an oddity the other day. It was a copy of Men Behaving Badly series 2 (BBC version) that was missing the shrink wrap. So I cracked it open and found the disc inside was for series 1. I'm not sure where it came from. Do you think people try to return DVDs that they didn't get from Dollar Tree?

Yes.

Earlier this year, I bought a DVD came home - no disc inside.

Didn't ask for a refund, an exchange for the another copy of the same movie.

I got it.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Would be funny if someone got caught stealing that movie "Klepto". I bought that and a few others, but I first checked to make sure I didn't get any that were also available on Blu-Ray. Those could still show up there later.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Reports are coming in of new stock for this Friday's Item of the Week. Some put the titles out early, so I hit 3 stores. No luck at the first or third stores, but at the second visited I saw over 30 titles, including 4 Blu's:

Without Men
In Too Deep
Allegiance
Assassins Bullet (Only one out of everything not in original shrink)

For DVD's (lots of Magnolia):
Graduation
The Matador
Ira & Abby
The Good Doctor
The Great Buck Howard
The Wackness
Ceremony
Riddle
Yonkers
Vantage Point
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart Indecision 2004
Sense and Sensibility BBC
Slumdog Millionaire
Moving McAllister
The Perfect Storm Director's Signature
Little Children
The Forger
Adrift in Manhattan
Raising Helen Foolscreen
Allegiance
George and the Dragon
Alpha Male http://www.amazon.com/Alpha-Male-Ewa...dp/B000YVBCTI/
Stardust Foolscreen http://www.amazon.com/Stardust-Full-...dp/B000WZAE0Y/
4 Film Collection: Killshot, Lucky#Slevin, Unknown, The Tournament http://www.amazon.com/Action-Killsho...dp/B00HNGC4WQ/

The 4 Film set North American Predators Wild America was packaged with this one: The Wild Arctic http://www.amazon.com/Wild-Arctic-De...dp/B0015RRNK2/ so 8 discs for $1

These two appear to be oop and trending upward in price ($25 is the minimum Amz. MP on Hunt For Justice)
Checking Out http://www.amazon.com/Checking-Out/dp/B000JJ4FKI/
Hunt For Justice http://www.amazon.com/Hunt-Justice-W...dp/B000HT3P42/

I bought 1 each of nearly everything, skipping 6 titles that I already owned (and clearly overpaid for), Allegiance on DVD (because I bought the BD) and the 2 Fooolscreens (I was bummed about Raising Helen, as I want to get that anyway at some point).

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

I found three boxes of DVDs on the item of the week table. No blu-rays. Sometimes they don't put everything out at once, so I may have to go back. I picked up a few titles:

Agent Cody Banks 2
Battleground 21 Days on the Empire's Edge
Bringing Up Bobby
Checking Out (2005)
The Flamingo Kid
Hunt for Justice
Partition
The Poker Club
Redemption for Robbing the Dead
Sense and Sensibility (1981 BBC)
South Riding (BBC)
The Square
Tortured
Year of the Gun

I also saw Slumdog Millionaire and the Wackness.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs

Crap.

This happened last week. Minus eight titles the rest are all gone.

Took home "South Riding" (mint). The first time I've seen a BBC title on sale there.

I'll be honest, I'm upset. I depend on those sale to buy good DVD cases for storage as I need them and I'm currently out.

Hopefully I'll catch the next sale.

- BBC: South Riding
- Boynton Beach Club
- Bright Star (Canadian version with bilingual packaging)
- The Flamingo Kid
- Nora Roberts: Blue Smoke
- Sox
- Stella Days (with slip)
