Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
Which Les Miserables are people finding? Hugh Jackman/Anne Hathaway, or Liam Neeson/Uma Thurman? I found some DVD's over the weekend, but not most of the titles listed here. I picked up Treasure Island (Elijah Wood) and Plenty (for my Mom, who loves Meryl Streep). I'd love to score 3rd Rock or Astro Boy...

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
I didn't even look for these until Monday (they were put out Friday), but got most of what I wanted besides the Astroy Boy complete series and 3rd Rock S1 (I assume this was the Mill Creek release). Did see Astro Boy Volume 1 at a location today. Might try some more stores, but don't really know if I want to drive much more for these.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
The store I went to on Monday had more titles today. I think the last time they had DVDs they did the same thing, putting out more stock a day or two later. I'm not sure if they're trying to make the DVDs last all week, if stuff gets lost in the stockroom or if there's another reason. For some reason, they put some on the item of the week table and the rest were in the electronics aisle. Not sure why as everything could easily fit on the table. If everything was on the item of the week table, it would sell out a lot quicker. They still have copies of Gentlemen Broncos and some dance DVD from the last wave of DVDs, plus a few copies of that Robert Pattinson that have probably been there for over a year. Anyway, I couldn't help myself and picked up a few more DVDs.
Assassins' Code Benji: Off the Leash!/Benji's Very Own Christmas Story The Brothers Bloom Longford Monsuno Volume 1 Subject Two Sugar Tae Bo Strength & Power Treasure Island (2012) |
Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
The one by my house had a big sign, "deal of the week dvd's & blu-ray's".
No blu's left; the only dvd worth mentioning is Woody Allen's excellent Anything Else. |
Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
Damn you Dollar Tree- just as I was buying fewer DVDs, you suck me back in. Restrained myself all things considered, but still got a number of crap titles that looked too interesting to pass up for a buck. Got all 5 Astro Boys, disappointed that it's a newer series rather than the original but still had to have it.

No one has reported any blu-rays. It's probably the default sign they use now.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
I managed to find the five Astro Boys and a couple others, but my local stores were picked pretty clean by the time I got there.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
Ran into my local store for other things, and discovered a table of DVDs at the front of the store under an "Item of the Week" sign. Strange in that the sign outside had something else as an item of the week. Anyway, there was a lot of empty space in the display, so this may be considered leftovers. I still picked up quite a few that had some positive reviews ($1 seems to be my DVD price point):
2 Days in Paris Animal Kingdom Boynton Beach Club Breakfast on Pluto The Cake Eaters Cold Souls Elegy Harry Brown Noel/Smile (Holiday Double Feature) Reign Over Me (a single fullscreen copy) Snowmen A Wedding for Bella There were also your usual exercise DVDs and a few random titles I remember seeing that I passed on: 2001: A Space Travesty I Am Jesse |
Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
Thanks for the info Cardsfan111.
I'll give my store a look. |
Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
I checked one store and they didn't have them yet. Maybe it's meant for next week's Item of the Week? Or maybe that store was just slow displaying them, idk.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
I found a few dvds on the item of the week table like Cardsfan111 did. Here's what I picked up:
2 Days in Paris The Adventures of Mickey Matson and the Copperhead Treasure The Adventures of Super Mario Bros 3: the Trouble with Koopas Bobby Z The Chameleon Cybergeddon The Final Season Harry Brown Java Heat The Jeff Corwin Experience season 1 Justin and the Knights of Valor The Lady Louder than Words Lullaby the Method T'ai Chi Quick Fix: Cardio Hip Hop workout/Total Cardio Kick (2 pack) Reign Over Me (Widescreen) Spirit of the Forest Sounder/A Dog of Flanders the Super Mario Bros Super Show: King Koopa Katastrophe the Super Mario Bros Super Show: Off the Map the Super Mario Bros Super Show: Once Upon a Koopa Terri Under Heavy Fire What Doesn't Kill You The Yellow Handkerchief I also saw: Scooby Doo, Where Are You? volume 1 several different Sonic the Hedgehog cartoons several different the Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That Welcome to Mooseport One of the more interesting things I passed on were several mini-dvds featuring a single episode of a TV show. I remember seeing something about these on TVshowsondvd, but I don't think I had ever seen them before. I saw the pilot episodes for ER and Gilmore Girls and one for the Jetsons. They seem like an interesting collector's item. |
Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
What is "The Jeff Corwin Experience season 1"; the case - two disc, single?
I usually buy titles for their cases, replacing those awful eco ones. |

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
Last night I finally got around to watching a $ Tree DVD I bought a year or so ago: "All the Way". Stars Dennis Hopper, Melanie Griffith, Portia de Rossi & the film was stolen by 2 Australian actors (it's an Australian film): Rose Byrne & Joel Edgerton. AKA "The Night We Called It a Day", it's a good (not great" film about Frank Sinatra's Australian tour. Definitely worth $1, & confirmed my negative opinion of Sinatra.

Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
Back.
Wow, this feels like the rejects - the stuff that didn't sell the last time. Did find some transparent cases. And "How William Shatner Change The World", don't know if this is any good. |
Re: Dollar Tree DVDs
The only time I've ever come across a decent selection of Dollar Tree DVDs was when I would get there before resellers. Some employees have told me that people would come in and buy entire boxes of DVDs at once. Very rarely is anything left other than a few stray workout DVDs and kid's programming.
