Re: Big Lots Part 4

I've already seen the some of the same sets at Half Price Books but not quite as cheap. But there are wholesalers on Amazon that are offered these at the similar price Big Lots pays.

I bet this doesn't last long. I just looked up about 10 titles from the master list and they are all maybe $1 or $2 over the Big Lots price.

I think you aren't the only one with this idea, and you all undercut each other into the ground.

Tried two more Big Lots today, nothing.

I have the whole next week and a half off work, time to go exploring around the city.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

It always happens with the Big Lots stuff. There's a group of resellers that always have the same stuff they do or buy it there. I stand by that these prices will crash for an indefinite period on most of the offerings. It could just take a few days as the products hit all the Big Lots stores. Some one above said its gonna be in a future big lots newspaper ad about the sets. They always have a bit of stock if its in there.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

I've seen people buying up Big Lots stock (dvds + other merchandise) and end up reselling it right in the parking lot. Not to mention reselling at pawn shops, auctions, flea markets and only getting $1-2 profit. I would either buy it from the original retailer (in this case, Big Lots) or not at all. After all, the only reason I'm buying it is because of the low cost and interest - I wouldn't waste any time trying to resell a $3 movie or $6 set online. After adding up shipping and other fees, it wouldn't be worth the hassle to me.

Not that I don't enjoy chastising profiteers, but may I suggest we call the subject closed and get back to the thread's real purpose?

Re: Big Lots Part 4

anywho, um if i have some extra cash i can try and go back and check and see whats still there if anyone is looking for something (though no promises because i'm pretty poor, but if i can i'll try and head back). they didn't have a wide selection but what they did have they had like a dozen or more so of each which were:

nip tuck season 4 (?) bluray
joey season 1 dvd
pinky and the brain volume 2
west wing season 2 (?)
the OC season 2
the history of rock n roll
roots (new generation or something like that)

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Today, I picked up:
The Big Street (Lucille Ball)
Forever Darling (Lucille Ball)
King Kong (2-disc)
I saw a lot of old Ginger Rogers movies in slimcases (probably separated from the boxed sets).

I'd like that Wonder Woman set if anyone finds an extra. I could trade a Scooby Movies or ThunderCats Season 2 Volume 2.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Hit a store that I had checked a few days ago. Apparently they had received a huge shipment yesterday. Found the same animated sets that I've seen before. A few new things (at least I don't think they've been mentioned):

The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour Complete Series
Also a different Superfriends/Justice League box set containing the two volumes of the Challenge of the Superfriends along with Justice League: Secret Origins.
Finally a 3 pack of movies priced for $6 - Dreamcatcher, Fear Dot Com & Thirteen Ghosts.

Added a couple of these to my available for trade list found here.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

Finally stopped at Big Lots today in Central New Jersey and found a ton of good stuff that people have already mentioned. I picked up:

- Animaniacs Volume 1 = $6
- Pinky and the Brain Volume 1 = $6
- Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory (full screen) = $3
- He Knows You're Alone = $3

I also saw a ton of snapcases of The Exorcist, Exorcist III and Creepshow. I also saw a few copies of Freddy VS. Jason. Overall, I walked away with a good amount of stuff and couldn't have been happier with the prices.

Hearts in Atlantis
Creepshow
Dave Chappelle - Killin' Them Softly

Does anybody have extras of Nightmares and Dreamscapes and Nip Tuck S4?? I can get the Animaniacs sets, Thundercats and Scooby Doo two movie packs (they have plenty at my Big Lots)

Re: Big Lots Part 4

One of my stores FINALLY got the tv season assortment.... sort of.

I show up and find these two shelves full of sets: about 15 each of OC S2 and West Wing S2, and then about 30+ of The New Scooby Doo.... and that's it. Maybe they just opened one box and thought the others were more of the same? I don't know. I asked about other sets and they said no, that's it.

...dont you just love when you know more than the people who actually work there?

You must have not seen that many movies because they weren't that bad.

Maybe not worthy of an all-time worst list, but they most definitely WERE all quite horrible films.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

I've been to like 8 or 9 BL in my area and cannot find Roots, which is the one thing I really want. I'll happily pay the cost plus shipping up to a total of $10

I grabbed that a while ago too. It strikes me as odd that BL got loads of this film, but I haven't seen mention of even a single sighting of "The Long Long Trailer".

My girlfriend is going to try the two Big Lots near her job today; I'd love to pick up Nip/Tuck on Blu-ray (for myself) and the Dallas sets for my grandfather.
