picked up a title today that looked interesting that I dont think has been mentioned before, yet another lionsgate double feature, "devil in the flesh" 1 and 2, looks to me kind of like a teenaged "fatal attraction", similar to "the crush" or "poison ivy" the 1st one stars rose mcgowan of "charmed" in the lead role, and the sequal stars jodi lynn o'keefe from "prison break" taking over the title role.

My wife had that set. She loves them. I never had the interest in watching them. Let us know how they are.

I got an awesome tip from a Big Lots employee today. They told me that Big Lots picked up Virgin Megastores stock and its going to start coming in next week at some stores. They implied it would be more DVDs.

I read some online reviews of both films, supposedly rose mcgowen plays a pretty good "evil bitch" but jodi o'keefe plays an even better one.

I went to the nearest Big Lots tonight. No TV sets other than "Wait Til Your Father Gets Home" and a volume of "Thundercats".

I picked up a few John Wayne titles (McQ, Blood Alley, The Telegraph Trail), The Right Stuff 2-disc and Mac (blind buy, I love Turturo).

I have checked three (Florida) stores since I saw the posts about the box sets, but had no luck... maybe this week. Pinky and the Brain is the top of my list. Animaniacs if I'm feel like splurging. :D

Verrrry interesting...

Local store got a big WB reshipment + a bunch of Bonds. No boxes. No Blu.
I grabbed:
Never Say Never Again
The TV Set
Hero At Large
Casablanca

They had most of the 007 titles, but not the one I most wanted (Live And Let Die). They were all the 1999's except The Living Daylights, which is the new restoration (I wish they all were).

Re: Big Lots Part 4

One Big Lots from my area restocked since the last time I'd gone (about two weeks ago). The other Big Lots has yet to get any sets.

Tonight I picked up:

Wonder Woman Complete Series
The History of Rock and Roll
Nip Tuck S.4 (DVD)
Animaniacs Vol.2
Pinky and the Brain Vol.2
Nightmares and Dreamscapes
ER S.2 & S.3
Wait Till Your Father Gets Home S.1
Joey S.1
The West Wing S.2
Roots 30th Anniversery
Roots: The Next Generation

and for my bro:

Smallville S.4
Smallville S.7 (BD)
Wonder Woman Complete Series
The OC S.2 & S.3
and others, I can't remember them all.

They had tons of:

The History of Rock and Roll
Roots 30th Anniversery
Joey S.1
Dukes of Hazzard (various seasons)
NBA Lakers Set
Animaniacs Vol.1 & Vol.2
Pinky and the Brain Vol.2
Nightmares and Dreamscapes

And various other titles. They have one four sided metal rack for DVDs and it was almost completely filled with sets.

No box sets at Blue Springs MO location,as of July 6.They had a butt load of PC games, though.
I picked up the special 007 edition of Tommorrow Never Dies for 3 bucks,so I was happy.

Personally, I wouldn't even take the old Bond DVDs for $1 a piece. The difference between these and the recent releases is night and day.

Maybe the quality is improved(I have not see the newer versions,)but the extras on the 007 special editions are 100 times better.Just my 2 cents.

Thats it. Nothing else in terms of Box sets. No live-acton sets at all. Very disappointed.

Amazing, considering Columbus is Big Lots' corporate headquarters.

This seems to lend creedence to the idea that none of these sets were supposed to hit the floor until the "official sale" on the 12th.

I didn't see it in the thread, but is it official that the TV sets are part of a flyer starting this sunday? Has anyone seen the ad? I'm looking to see if there is any chance of PMing the sets at Best Buy.

Save your receipts. I just opened up Dukes Of Hazzard S-2 to find a serious manufacturing flaw on the 'B' side of disc one. Looks like a half-inch blotch. Some of the discs have a haze on them as well.

Re: Big Lots Part 4

I opened up my copy of "Wonder Woman" Season 3 and found an extra DVD in a cardboard sleeve containing a episode of the old Filmation "Shazam" series (1974) featuring Jackson Bostwick as Captain Marvel and Les Tremayne as Mentor.
The DVD cover says it's Volume 8 of a Commemorative series honoring Warner Brothers 50 Years of TV. There's also a warning on the back of the sleeve saying: "Promotional titles not currently for sale or rental."
Does anyone have any idea about what the other Volumes of this series contained and in what disc sets they could be found in?

Yea this is something the WB was doing a few years back. I have Volume 4 (That came in Full House: Season 1) and my wife has Volume 10 (That came in One Tree Hill: Season 2). But off the top of my head I cannot remember what TV episode is on each. Its a shame DVDSpot isn't around anymore. They had each volume listed.

Don't remember which sets they came with, but I have:

"Room For Two"

Volume 3:

"Perfect Strangers"
"Whose Line Is It, Anyway?"

At one of the stores I called to ask about these sets the manager told me that they did indeed have these sets in the back, but that they wouldn't be putting them out on the floor until the morning of the 12th. The reason she gave me - because she saw in her ad that starts on that day that these technically shouldn't be sold until that day and on.

That would explain why I haven't seen any at my store. I guess I'll be waiting in the parking lot at 9 a.m. on the 12th. Man, I need a life.....;)

I've got Volumes 7 and 9.

Vol. 7 has the Smallville episode where Clark Kent is found in the cornfield. (Maybe this is the 1st episode? not sure) Running time is about 47 minutes.

Vol. 9 has an episode of The Flash, starring John Wesley Shipp and Amanda Pays. Running time is about 47 minutes.

Don't remember which Warner Bros TV sets they came from, but I think there was a sticker on the shrinkwrap celebrating Warner's 50 years indicating that there was a bonus dvd inside.

With all this old Warner Bros stock showing up at Biglots, there must be some leftover sets that still have this bonus dvd... Something else to look for....

HERE IS THE DEAL ON WHY YOU CANNOT FIND THESE SETS!
I talked to the manager at my local Big Lots today about these sets since they did not have them out as of yet. She informed me that next weeks add (starting on the 12th) will feature these sets. So they are sitting on them until the add comes out. So do not fret my friends! If you have been unable to find these sets chances are your store has them sitting in back waiting to be put out on Sunday.

I just checked my Dukes season 2 set and it is ok.

Here is some identifying info on my good set:

The original UPC code on the back of the box has been covered over with another UPC code printed on a white sticker that has been applied on top of the shrinkwrap. The new UPC code is 0 12569 69747 8.

In addition, each dvd is stamped "Made in Taiwan" in tiny print at the inner edge of the dvd. (I thought these discs were made in Mexico, go figure!)

Hellllz yeah! Price matching at BB is a WHOLE lot easier... Now all that matters is what DVD sets are featured in the ad... Would anyone happen to know by any chance?

Not sure but I don't think Best Buy price matches stores like Big Lots. They will only price match some stores and I do not thing discount stores like Big Lots, Ross, etc are included. So keep that in mind.

Stopped by my local store again today. They had a big pile of sets, unfortunately all that was in the pile was 10 copies of the Lakers set, 10 Roots: The Next Generation and about 25 Night Court. I'll check back in a few days to see if they have more out yet.

Also, if anyone needs any of those three sets let me know and I can go pick them up for you.

Has anyone seen any of the Friends Box sets in the NC or SC stores?

Hopefully there will be some more classics released soon!

Picked up the following this past weekend:

Kitty Foyle
Wife Vs Secretary
Never So Few
The Last Voyage
D-Day, the Sixth of June

Also picked up a few Doris Day's a few weeks back

I picked up a few. For those in Dallas, the Garland Rd store has the following sets:

Scooby Doo: 5 original movies
The Best of the New Scooby Doo Movies
Animaniacs V1
Pinky & the Brain V2
Roots: TNG
Nightmares & Dreamscapes

I saw, but didn't buy:

The OC S2
Dukes of Hazzard Various Seasons
Joey S1
Superbowl Boxsets
The History of the Lakers
The West Wing S2
Night Court S1

and a few others I can't remember, most had 5+ copies left.

Their policy is definitely to pricematch "competitors" and discount stores are definitely not their true competition. However, you never know what a stupid or uninformed cashier might do. So I'm not saying it isn't worth a try, but it's definitely YMMV...
