Re: Big Lots Part 4
Thanks for the tip about Sunday. I've been to four Big Lots and only one had the sets out (well, except for the Scooby-Doo movies, which every store seemed to have plenty of). I managed to get a History of Rock and Roll as a gift and vol 1 of Pinky & the Brain, but I am really hoping for the complete Wonder Woman set.

Stopped by my local store again today. They had a big pile of sets, unfortunately all that was in the pile was 10 copies of the Lakers set, 10 Roots: The Next Generation and about 25 Night Court. I'll check back in a few days to see if they have more out yet.
Also, if anyone needs any of those three sets let me know and I can go pick them up for you. |
Re: Big Lots Part 4
Stopped by a Big Lots on the other side of town (#1072 Haltom City) this morning and found little of interest but picked up the History of Rock 'n' Roll set. When I got it home I found disc 1 had been trapped between the sections of the digipak and was so scratched up it could not be played (BTW who ever thought up that "half a digipak" shit deserves a beating). So it was four hours after my initial purchase that I was able to go back to that store to return the set and sometime in that four hours they restocked the hell out of the place. The shelves that had been half filled were now crammed full. They had seven copies of Smallvile Season 7 on Blu-ray - now there are six, natch - and lots of Thundercats, The West Wing, both Roots and The Next Generation, Animaniacs, four copies of the complete Wonder Woman, and so many of those Scooby-Doo boxes they could've built a wall with them. I had to restrain myself from going hogwild with my buying. So anybody in the Metroplex that wants some of these titles now, go to the store on 377 (and then eat at Oscar's at their new location down the street).

Re: Big Lots Part 4
Well, my location got partial stock in and it was put out Monday instead of the usual Thursday. The only box sets available were Night Court S1, The OC S2, Dukes of Hazzard S5 and The West Wing S2.
Picked up: Fury Night Court: Season 1 Everything is Illuminated Of Unknown Origin Logan's Run He Knows Your Alone A Stranger is Watching Paradise Now The Last Voyage Year of the Dragon (without slashed UPC) Here's hoping the rest arrives in time for the 20% coupon. :fc: |
Re: Big Lots Part 4
Lexington, KY update...
Eastland has been pretty much picked clean of the box sets. There's a few of Dallas S7 and S9, West Wing S2, The O.C. S2, Pinky V1 and Nip/Tuck S4. Nothing new in movies. Turfland started getting some box set stock... Pinky V2, Animaniacs V2, Dukes, Nip/Tuck S4, West Wing S2, The O.C. S2, Night Court S1, Joey S1, History of Rock N' Roll... No ER :( 5 new smaller boxes of mixed titles as well... Picked up two Altman's (Kansas City and A Prairie Home Companion). Pretty much all of the recent WB restock is still there. Of note, they moved some of the DVD overflow to the opposite side of the electronics section and left a lot of empty shelf space... I'll check Eastland again Thursday evening and I'll definitely drive to Richmond on Sunday morning since I saw ER S5 mentioned in this thread... Happy hunting folks! :) |
Re: Big Lots Part 4
My local store here in Thomasville, GA had put out their TV on DVD display this afternoon. Pretty limited selection with no Wonder Woman, One Tree Hill, Dallas, or Smallville Bluray. There was a lot of different seasons of the Dukes of Hazzard and a bunch of Scooby Doo 2 packs and The Scooby Doo Collection. I ended up picking up:
The West Wing S2 The OC S2 The History Of Rock 'N' Roll Nightmares & Dreamscapes and the find of the day for me was Babyon 5 - The Movie Collection. http://www.amazon.com/Babylon-Movie-...7016988&sr=1-1 I couldn't believe it was in with the $6 titles and there was only the one copy. And for any disbelievers no I'm not going to take a picture of it floating in a toilet bowl. I guess I will ask if they have any other titles to put out before the sale on the 12th, otherwise I may end up in Tallahasse early that day to see if they have a better selection. I was really hoping to get the Smallville BD even though I already on it in SD, I also wanted Dead Like Me S3. |
Re: Big Lots Part 4
Yesterday.
Visited four Pick N Saves, picked up; "Dr. No" SE, "Tremors 2" (with insert), "Thunderball" SE, "Pinky And The Brain" vol 1 & 2 as well as vol 1 of "Animaniacs". Still no box set for "Wonder Woman". But I did run into the box set for "Thundercats" season 2. And the HBO specials - "Sam Kinison: Unleashed". Has anybody seen the SEs for "Goldfinger" and or "A View To A Kill". One other question. Is it only volumes 1 and 2 for either "Animaniacs" or "Pinky And The Brain"? Has anybody seens volume 3? - - - - - DeepSleep, I found one store which had seasons 1 - 9 for "Dallas". Wanted to pick that up. But I have more to acquire. |

Re: Big Lots Part 4
Here's what I got recently in Woodbridge, VA
$6 Nip/Tuck S4 [Blu-Ray] History of R&R Night Court S1 Pinky/Brain V1 & V2 Super Bowl XXI-XXX Nightmares & Dreamscapes $3 Singles [with tiny bar code slash] Bowfinger Mute Witness Reality Bites [10th Anniversary Edition] good night, and good luck. They also had plenty of OC, West Wing, Animaniacs but no ER, Wonder Woman. Manager said shipments come in every Tuesday with stock put out early in the morning Wednesday before the store opens but they don't always get DVD's each week. Sometimes months go by with nothing. They know when the truck arrives if they have new DVD's. He said he wished they got more because even as cheap as the discs are, they are big sellers and make a lot of money for the store. |

Exactly. Even if he gets $20 for it, eBay still takes it $2-3, then Paypals $2, plus shipping and he is lucky to get $10. If all that is worth $10...perhaps he should try and get a real job?
Edit: Looking at eBay he will be lucky to recoup his costs on many of those. Animaniacs/Pinky goes for $10-13  $8.27 $10.01 $14.30 $12.50 $10.50 $11.01 $9.38 TOTAL = $75.97 AVERAGE = 10.85 each off the various Pink and the Brain sets. Now, each one cost atleast $6.70 if you figure in tax to buy from Big Lots. Ebay will take at least $1.50 for the listing fee and the ending transaction. Paypal $.80. So lets say total cost is $9 to sell one of these sets on average. Oh, wait, he gave away free shipping . Now were looking at around $1.75 to ship along with $0.75 for the bubble mailer. Add on another $2.50 to the total. Whats that total? $11.50. He lost $0.65 by doing this. Congrats! You were smarter than all of us! |
Re: Big Lots Part 4
Well, I hit the motherload tonight. I found almost all of the box sets mentioned in this thread, with the exception of 3 items. Off to post in the trading forum... :)

I almost hate to pile it on further, but true justice is not served unless you bring back his original quote which started it all.

Re: Big Lots Part 4
So how many of you have been finding the Wonder Woman Complete Collection at your local Big Lots?
Thinking about hitting my local store sometime this week, but that is the only DVD I'd want from the sale. |
Re: Big Lots Part 4
Saw 3 today in a Modesto Big Lots.

Re: Big Lots Part 4
A new batch of New Line DVD's for $3 showed up in Ohio today. I bought "The Hidden" with Michael Nouri & Kyle MacLachlan (one of my all-time faves) and "About Schmidt" with Jack Nicholson. I also noticed "Blade 2" as well along with a number of other New Line releases I was unfamiliar with.

Are there THREE Superbowl sets spotted, or only Superbowl XI-XX and XXI-XXX? I don't recall anyone mentioning Superbowl I-X...

Re: Big Lots Part 4
Tax was .36 cents per set, I actually had all the shipping envelopes given to me by my mother, who gets them free. I wound up profiting around $4 or $5 bucks. So no, it wasn't really worth the time/effort. It was more less a lil experiment just to make a lil extra cash, but no it wasn't worth the effort at all. The lil "get rich" quotes, ya..I was definitely serious about that (sarcasm). I more less just saw a bunch of random TV sets I "figured" would sell for a little more than I paid for them, WHICH they did. But no, I didn't lose any money, but it was not worth the effort at all, and more less was a waste of time.

Plus you screwed a few people who go to BL counting on the regular shipments being there, and alienated people at a DVD site dedicated to helping each other. Food for thought perhaps? |

Hell, lets just say eBay, Paypal and the post office waived all those fees ( ) - you would still only make $4.35 a set. |
Re: Big Lots Part 4
I don't understand how so many people are running across multiple copies of sets(in this case Wonder Woman the complete series) that MANY have asked for help in finding on this thread and people just pick one up for themselves leave the others behind? No one has to save the world but where's the dvd love?
