mine has to be tied between season 1 of the henry rollins show, and the 3 dvd box set of forgotten film noir. have gotten some sweet millcreek box sets too, the bonanza one which is killer, and season 1 of the 1950's robin hood series (by the way, millcreek has released seasons 2 and 3 of robin hood, as well as a big box with all 3 seasons), but have only ever found season 1 at walmart

Season 4 of Robin Hood the series has just now been released by millcreek. You can get the 4 season set online for under $20 as various places making it as good, or in some cases even better then the Walmart bargain bin deal. I paid under $16 for the entire set from Buy.com with free shipping.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Went in today and they were completely redoing the stock of DVDs.

To my surprise they had a large area of shelving for $5 Horror films.

Plus King of the Hill season sets for $12.00 each. Friends for $15 a season set.

Some slots for something related to Transformers for $5 and sets for $20. Slots for Transformers movie for $13 as well as some Transformers thing with a "Tee" (I assume a T-Shirt).

Bad new is the Star Trek series was removed. I didn't see the Buffy series anymore either. Stargate SG-1 amount of seasons has been reduced. But they have added Stargate: Atlantis on the end cap for $15 each.

That's all I can remember right now. Next time I go I'll jot down more of what I see.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

They were still working on resetting the mods at my store this morning. I was hoping they would have some new t.v. 2-packs for $19.96. The only 3 I saw were for The Big Valley (which they already had), Chips, and Gilligan's Island. Those 3 were right next to each other. If there's more, then they're not grouped together this time.
I didn't look around much. I did notice season 3 of Deadwood for $29.96. Good price, but it can be had cheaper during DeepDiscounts semi-annual sales.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Not only did my Wal-Mart have a $5 horror display set up, but it was enclosed within a new $5 shelf-section with some more popular titles that would normally go onto their $5 shelf/bin.

Titles I saw included (ALL $5!):
Halloween 4/Halloween 5 Divimax SE Double Feature
Maximum Overdrive/Raw Deal
Happy Birthday to Me
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) Two Disc Ultimate Edition (Steelbook)
Wind Chill
Wolf Creek
Fright Night
The Breed (I think...killer werewolf movie that I believe has Michelle Rodriguez)
From Hell
Prom Night II
Amityville Horror Double Feature (original/remake)
The Eye (remake)
Lake Placid (FS)
The Evil Dead
Chiller Triple Feature (forget what this has in it, it's some Echo Bridge like company and one of the horror films is about a horror film, somewhat recent, title ends in an exclamation point, if that helps...)

In the regular $5 section they had:
Dr. No Special Edition (old)
Goldeneye Special Edition (old)
The World is Not Enough Special Edition (old)
Goldfinger Special Edition (old)
School of Rock FS
Road Trip WS (rated)
Navy Seals/Red Dawn

These are just the few I can remember, the area spaced out for the horror/$5 titles combined was three entire shelves, so depending on how many titles fit on a shelf (30?) someone can figure out how many titles that is. I also might have remembered more titles, but 75% of the section wasn't stocked yet.

I also noticed that they had dropped Futurama to $12.xx from $14.9x and changed out the TV two-packs (I saw CHiPS, Fresh Prince, Martin, and Everybody Loves Raymond instead of the previously-available Buffy, King of the Hill, Arrested Development and X-Files) and they had several copies of WS Prom Night and Black Dog on the regular old $5 rack/bin.

What seasons of Stargate Atlantis did they have? I'd love to pick up a few seasons at that price.

If I recall correctly just the first two seasons of Stargate:Atlantis.

But next time I'm there I'll double check.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

The Newark, Ohio Wal-Mart had a few more of the "Midnight Movies" titles for $5.

Besides the already mentioned "Tales from the Crypt"/"Vault of Horror", I found the following MM combos:

The Land That Time Forgot/ The People That Time Forgot
Strange Invaders / Invaders from Mars
Alien from L.A. / Morons From Outer Space.

There was a whole batch of new double and triple feature sets and I picked up the 2 MPI Sherlock Holmes double features from $9 each.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Walmart has a new series of covers for a bunch of catalog DVD titles. It's a slip of cardboard glued to the front of what I assume is the regular case, and they all have a collection name for them at the top. They're all designed exactly the same as well. They look kind of cool. If they were slipcovers, they might be the kind of thing that drives an OCD person to buy all of them. $9 a piece also. Saw movies of all genres.

Also, the Canadian-exclusive "clothing" covers for a few DVDs (similar to the Grease jacket packaging) have made their way to Walmart as exclusives. Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Top Gun, and two others now have jackets or sweaters on them.

Also, the Walmart-Exclusive 3-disc set of "Wolverine" was $19.96 at my local Walmart today. As always with Walmart though, YMMV.

Ok so now I finally know what the listings on the Technicolor site meant by "Specialty costume packaging".

All those listed on the site are:
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Flashdance
Saturday Night Fever
Top Gun

They were setting up the horror display today in one of my local Wal-Marts. I picked up for $5 each:

Happy Birthday to Me
Prom Night II: Hello Mary Lou
Tales from the Crypt/Vault of Horror
BtVS: Curse of the Hellmouth (for my younger sister)

Pretty good day.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Does anyone know if the Navy Seals/Red Dawn double feature is widescreen or fullscreen? Does anyone know why I bother to ask, since it's dumbass WalMart?

As far as I've been able to ascertain, if the two images are top and bottom it's widescreen. If the two movie images are side-by-side, it's fullscreen. And possibly Canadian.

My Wal-Mart had Law & Order seasons 2-5 for $9.96 each. Didn't buy any tonight but might go back for a couple of them later this week.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

Is this the new Happy Birthday to Me? Because if so it's out early, it's not supposed to be out until next week. Also, I went to 4 different Wal-Marts looking for these, the 2 that actually had a section were almost completely out of everything and the other 2 didn't even have a section. I really want that Happy Birthday to Me if it's the new one. I saw spaces for them in the 2 that had the section, but they were out, or maybe they hadn't put the movies out yet. I don't know.

It varies with each WM. For instance, there were lots of posters reporting that their WM's had put everything out. My local WM (about 20-25 minutes away) had 60-70% of the $5 Halloween Section out last weekend but didn't put out the rest until today (including Happy Birthday To Me).

Thanks! I ask because my nearest WalMart is a chaotic mess that never has anything good, and I wanted to see if the prize was worth it before I took a likely fruitless dumpster dive.

As it turns out, they had a (widescreen) copy right on top of the bin. Score!
