I don't think the Unrated Version has ever been released in R1 on DVD.

I have the R2 Unrated DVD (UK), but I bought this set since the DVD is in Widescreen. UK Unrated DVD is Full Screen.

Picked up sucker punch and clash of the titans last night (1981) for $3 a piece. They had a bunch of really good titles. 2001: a space odyssey was one of them.

I found the following discs in one of the bargain bins in Orlando.

These are five dollar double features by TGG Direct ( MGM / United Artists films )

Also, each double feature is on 1 single sided disc...

DR GOLDFOOT AND THE BIKINI MACHINE / DR GOLDFOOT AND THE GIRLS BOMBS - Both films are WIDEscreen and color

TAKING OF PELHAM 1 2 3 / RUNAWAY TRAIN - NOTE: Pelham is the 1st REMAKE from 1998 - it's in FULLscreen - RUNAWAY TRAIN is in WIDEscreen and the reason I purchased this set - VERY happy to finally have this on DVD

RANCHO DELUXE 1975 / WILD BILL 1995 - both in WIDEscreen - VERY happy to have these films

WOMAN IN THE WINDOW 1945 / THE STRANGER 1946 - both in FULLscreen - NOTE: WOMAN IN THE WINDOW is in COLOR, I thought it was filmed in black & white?... Also the UNITED ARTIST LOGO appears before WOMAN starts, and the MGM LOGO appears before the start of the STRANGER... So these are NOT public domain versions... They look good

-eek-

I will start scouring my local stores for this and The Stranger.

THE STRANGER AND THE WOMAN IN THE WINDOW from MGM are both OOP. The former goes for big bucks on secondary markets, so this is a cheap alternative to get the best transfer of this public domain title. The Blu Ray version of THE STRANGER isn't awful, but it does suffer from too much DNR.

Has anyone picked up these sets? If so how are the quality? I'm trying to find the best print of Street Fighter. For $5 these seem decent.

Third Rock from the Sun 1&2
Lucy and Betty White - 70 Episode collection
That 70s Show 1&2

My local Walmart had these on one side of a display in the electronics department; on the other side were several different 50-Movie Packs, also for $10:

I'm sure that there were more, but those are the only ones I'm remembering at the moment.

Wait, the wha?!??! First off, damn, suppose I'll need to be digging in those $5 monstrositiess again, for this. Second, when did this come out and where was I?

A quick nip around the usual e-tailers shows near nada.

It's not officially out yet. Here's the Amazon link - currently a $6.95 pre-order. For my money, it's worth the ~$1.50 (post tax savings) to not have to drive to WM and dig through the bin.

Went and scoured both dump bins at one of our Wal-Marts today but no luck finding this one.

Have been to five different Walmarts since those MGM/TGG double features were reported above and found none of them. I'm beginning to think this is an urban legend. Of course I would believe anything after going to five Walmarts in two weeks.

I picked up one that was a double feature of Vincent Price movies (Theater of Blood and From A Whisper To A Scream) and they were all in a square cardboard bin, not the usual metal circular dump bin

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

It's not an urban legend, ha-ha-ha...

I found them in a square shaped bargin bin in front of the electronics dept.

Most of the time, I can not find titles that other people find ( like the lionsgate sets )... and yet, they show up when I'm NOT looking for them ( or when I no longer care )... lol...

Below is a link to my short blog post about the TGG Goldfoot set ( other sets also )... screen grabs from the movies, disc menu, etc.

Re: Wal-Mart Bargains Thread #2

These haven't yet shown up in the Chicago area, I guess.

Over on another forum there are reports of two volumes of the vintage television series BAT MASTERSON, also from TGG, in Walmart for $5.00 apiece and each containing twelve episodes, comprising the first 24 episodes of S1. Another double feature has also been reported, two Vincent Price movies, THEATER OF BLOOD and FROM A WHISPER TO A SCREAM.

One poster quoted the TGG website as saying the television and double feature new releases are Walmart exclusives, but supposedly are only available on the east coast and the midwest.

Yup. However, I am little worried that there's no release date listed. The set is also on DVD Planet and Deep Discount, but noted as currently unavailable.

"The Stranger" is also showing up for $3 as a single disc at Big Lots. In fact, I picked it up there. Would kill for Woman In The Window and more importantly, Scarlet Street if that ever made it out of public domain.
